Carrie Underwood confirmed during her virtual Official Fan Club Party that she is currently hard at work on a Christmas album set for release later this year. What would you like to see on the tracklisting? Keep in mind - Carrie has said herself that her favorite Christmas songs are religious, so this one’s definitely going to be for Jesus!

Can't wait for this! I replay her version of "Do You Hear What I Hear" every year. Hoping there's at least a few solid secular offerings on the album.

My hope is that she sticks to the religious/traditional songs and really lets her voice shine over the production. I thought her Carnival Ride Christmas EP was quite great and still play it each year. I would not mind originals, but really hope they are more serious leaning (“Christmas Shoes”) or at least not cheesy. I think this will be a huge seller for her and a big “era”. I wonder if the “Tears of Gold” duet is for this album. The title could definitely be Christmas-related.

I didn't know we did Christmas albums in their own threads. Interesting.
Anyway, I'm with you all on wanting a more religious, "serious" Christmas album from her. However, I do want a few "fun" songs on here too. I don't want any overlap between this and the Carnival Ride rerelease; I want all "new" (to Carrie) songs, at least songs she hasn't recorded before.
I would really like her to have a good 4-5 original songs. I think she could destroy an original Christmas song and come up with a classic.
I'm also (somewhat selfishly) partial to Carol of the Bells and Please Come Home for Christmas, so those are two I'm hoping for.

This was the best move for Carrie at this moment in time. She is one of those artists I've been waiting for years to put out a holiday record, her voice is just meant to soar in Christmas music. I'd love for her to cover "Merry Christmas Darling"... I actually can hear her in my mind right now singing it and sounding like an angel. 😢 Ugh what better way to end this wack ass year than with a Carrie Christmas?

The absolute correct move for this current spot in her career. I’m sure it’ll be full of classics & hymns, but here’s hoping she’ll have some surprises up her sleeve and give us some originals.
Also wow, a new thread :’)

I do hope there are some cute secular originals because I know the album is going to be filled to the brim with religious covers. Not that that's a bad thing, I just personally prefer the secular songs usually.
What songs to we expect/hope she does? Joy to the World? Hark the Herald Angels Sing? It Came Upon a Midnight Clear? Away in a Manger? Silent Night? Little Drummer Boy?
Personally, the one and only song I hope she does because it's by far my favorite religious Christmas song is "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen."

"Silent Night" please & thank you. Dial it back and give me that angelic version, CU. In a perfect world, she'd do "What Are You Doing New Year's Eve" and explode my heart.

Give us a Kelly duet plz. I feel like a holiday tune is the only way this collab will finally happen.

Any new Carrie music sounds good to me right now. Although I hope the Christmas album isn’t all “countried up” and has traditional arrangements.
PS if anyone saved a copy of Carrie singing “You Won’t Find This” from the FC party please drop me a link in PM. I don’t recall her ever singing that song live before and would love to hear it.

What’s the window for Christmas albums dropping? I would assume this would be out before Thanksgiving? Wonder when we will learn more details regarding the album (track list, cover, etc.)

I'm not much for Christmas music, but if an actual VOCALIST is handling the songs, I'll definitely check it out. I hope she goes with more traditional arrangements.

I'm thinking this will be released late October, early November. They'll probably start really pushing a single right around Thanksgiving.

Oh I didn't expect a new thread :') word wall incoming
I am 100% HERE for this album. Admittedly, I had wanted CU7 in 2020 but as the pandemic hit and the CP singles had slower chart runs at radio, it became clear that this was the best move. I personally would like at least 1 original song (I still wonder if "Stretchy Pants" had been intended for this; if not, the "Tears of Gold" theory sounds good) and just a few secular songs, but I'm here for the Jesus Christmas Jamz! With Carrie, I wouldn't be surprised if the religious tunes comprise most or all of the album.
With that said, here's a tracklist (in no particular order) I would WEEP at:
1. A Baby Changes Everything (I can imagine Carrie on this one and I'm already weeping) 2. Away In A Manger 3. O Holy Night (yes I know she's already done this but imagine it with her 2020 vocals 😍) 4. What Are You Doing New Year's Eve 5. Little Drummer Boy 6. O Come All Ye Faithful (imagine a vocal arrangement similar to the Céline Dion rendition) 7. Joy to the World 8. Stretchy Pants (assuming this was for the album) 9. Tears of Gold with David Brisbal (also assuming this is for the album--in which case I doubt it'll be released until mid October depending on the album's release date) 10. Wrapped In Red with Kelly Clarkson (an absolute dream) 11. I'll Be Home for Christmas (if this were acapella...whew! 😍) 12. Merry Christmas Darling 13. Silent Night (oh goodness would this be perfect as the final track)

Who knows if it will look the same this year or not.

I really want it to be heavy on traditional sound and some minimalistic production songs to let Carrie's voice shine. I hope it includes some of my favourite Christmas music: I am all here for a I'll be Home For Christmas acapella and slow sad version, especially if this situation continues and you can't travel home/can't see your family. I really hope she does Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas because I have had this terrible quality version on my playlist for too long and I want a HQ recording. A Holly Jolly Christmas is another one of my favourites that I would love to see more renditions of. I think she could destroy Joy To The World and I have a soft spot for It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas. On original songs I think Stretchy Pants might be a nice silly lighter song to include if the album is otherwise lacking more fun songs, and I would love to see at least a couple of originals. I have loved this Hillary Lindsey co-write for the longest time but I think Scotty McCreery released it last year, so wouldn't count as an original.
There are a few recently registered songs on Carrie's reportoire but I suspect they might be oldies/from Cry Pretty, and none sound like Christmas songs to me, except for maybe silver and gold: - Breaking Up With A Boy (D. Garcia, H Lindsey, C. Underwood) - Church Choir (D. Garcia, H Lindsey, C. Underwood)
- Do You Remember When (M. Elizondo, C. Underwood, H. Lindsey) - Erasable (C. Destefano, J. Brett, C. Underwood) - Shut Up And Kiss Me (J. Brett, D Garcia, C. Underwood) - Silver and Gold (J. Brett, D Garcia, C. Underwood) - Small Talk (D. Garcia, H Lindsey, C. Underwood) - Take Me Out (D. Garcia, H Lindsey, C. Underwood) - Two Time In A One Horse Town (J. Brett, H Lindsey, C. Underwood) - Way To Go (D. Garcia, D Barnes, C. Underwood)

I'm guessing I'm the only one hoping she doesn't record "What Are You Doing New Years Eve" as I've never liked that song, regardless of who sings it.
I would love it if she got Martina with her and recorded "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" as they sang it together on the Opry a few years back. I think Kellie Pickler might have also performed it with them, but cannot remember who the 3rd artist was.
I also would love "Mary Did You Know" and I second "A Baby Changes Everything"

I have zero desire or use for a Christmas album but I echo the sentiments that it's the right move for her at this stage in her career. If they're smart, they'll come up with a good original tune that can eventually become a holiday staple a la Underneath the Tree.

Been waiting for a Christmas album since 2006. Have Yourself a Merry little Christmas would be my ideal song, along with O Holy Night, Silent Night. Oh yea, add The Christmas Song.

Here's a few of my hopefuls for her upcoming christmas record: 1. Breath of heaven(Mary's Song) 2. Have yourself a merry little Christmas 3. Silver bells 4. Grown Up Christmas List 5. Silent Night 6. O Come All Ye Faithful
and I know its not a christmas song but i would absolutely LOVE a studio version of Softly and Tenderly from her! And also Angels Brought Me Here :) I do anticipate someday down the road she will probably do a full blown Christian/Hymns album where we would be more likely to see songs like those.

a Christmas album might be the perfect spot for her to finally record "Angels Brought Me Here", I would personally love that a lot!
also I think she would do a breathtaking version of "Breath of Heaven (Mary's Song)"
I'd also like to include "Let There Be Peace On Earth", technically not a Christmas song but it is a song I've long included with my Christmas music. Mainly Vince Gill's version with his daughter, maybe Carrie could do it as a duet with Vince!

There are only a few artists I want Christmas music from, and Carrie is one of those I've been *hoping* would make one for years now--especially before she got older and her voice wasn't at its peak anymore. I'm sure this will be huge. Really hope for "Mary, Did You Know." Someone else suggested "Away in a Manger," and I think she'd sound great on that one, too. "Silver Bells" is another one I'd like.
If she has any originals, I imagine they'd be serious in tone.

Im super excited for a Carrie Christmas album! (A Very Carrie Christmas would be a great album name but Kacey already did that unfortunately)
Hoping for a few originals or at least one that can become a classic hit for years to come. Surprised it took this long for a Christmas album but I think 2020 is the perfect time in her career for it

I don’t care what songs, for the most part. I’m just here for the vocal slayage we’re all going to experience when this drops. This is Carrie’s wheelhouse, ya’ll. She loves her some Jesus!
Definitely want an updated “O Holy Night” because her voice is honestly so much better for that song, now. Also, “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” and “My Grown Up Christmas List”.
I also would like at least one big-name collaboration, preferably a female; Kelly Clarkson? Reba? Martina? But if male, Luke Combs? Luke Bryan? I’m sure she could lock down pretty much anyone for a collaboration on this album. I guess I’ll survive without one, but it seems like a prime time to make even more fans’ dreams come true. Just imagine, Carrie and Kelly on a Christmas song? It sells itself!
I want only a few up-tempos, tbh. Just enough to break up the album. I’m a sucker for Christmas ballads, and Carrie’s voice is tailor made for those.

4. Grown Up Christmas List Oh wow... that's a song that didn't even cross my mind. It would be wonderful and it suits her voice so much, she would kill it!
