Do any of you think we'll ever get an official studio cover of Heart's "Alone" from her? Her fans have been asking for it for so long lol.

I mean, I feel like at some point in her career she’ll do a covers album; if you think about it - she originally became famous for doing amazing covers, it would be a big success, I’m sure. So, it’s possible - and would be a wonderful gift for the fans, as I’m sure we’d all love to hear a studio version from Carrie, but in many ways it’s also kind of tired because she has covered it many times since Idol, so who knows?

I don’t know what her CMA FYC looks like, but I can’t imagine her or her team are pushing for anything major. Why would she get EOTY? Maren deserves a nom this year. And if she wins, great. But seeing as Garth is ~conveniently~ doing his drive-in mega-concert films ($100 tickets lmao g o o d b y e) at the same time as FYC ads & nominations are being determined, it wouldn’t shock me in the slightest if he returns to the category again.
Carrie will hopefully get a FVOTY nom again and that’ll be it. There is literally zero reason for Carrie fans to be shitty or excessive about anything this year (though I’m sure they will be anyways).

Her vocal ability just suits that style of singing so well, and her cover of the song itself was just so iconic. Her performance literally resulted in a massive resurgence in the song's popularity that lasted for many years after the fact. Everyone started covering it on Youtube, on other TV singing competitions (even in other countries), Clay Aiken covered it, Celine Dion covered it, some pop singer recorded a dance mix that got pretty decent airplay, etc. She put the song back on the map for the younger generations; My 11-year-old self sure as heck didn't know the original by Heart before Carrie's Idol performance, lol. We need an official cover! For right now, I guess this is the closest thing lol

I think the only reasoning behind Carrie fans maybe getting fired up is the fact that she has an entire leg of her tour within the eligibility period if you’re referring to entertainer which I’m assuming. She’s one of the few bigger people I think who would have a shot at getting a nom based purely from a touring standpoint before the shut down this year. And this of course also depends on how seriously they take the June to June eligibility period.

And this of course also depends on how seriously they take the June to June eligibility period. The thing is, they don’t really follow the criteria - or the criteria is so vague that it can be interpreted in different ways. Either way, many of these awards are political popularity contests. In most cases this tends to line up with what’s popular amongst fans, but we’ve seen that things don’t always pan out as expected or predicted. If a female is nominated, it’ll likely be Maren. For some reason I could see Carrie being nominated, but I don’t think that would happen if there isn’t a push by Carrie’s team. No matter who’s nominated, my money is on Luke Combs - I think even against Garth he could pull off a win. He’s had a couple of massive years in a row and things continue to look up for him, 2020 is the year of Luke Combs.

^yeah I mean we definitely know for a fact the way things go in terms of the awards with not even following their own criteria. The optimist in me can’t help but hold onto hope that she will someday get a solely industry dependent entertainer win, after putting up with years of excuses as for why she couldn’t even get a nomination from the CMAs until her fifth album cycle and now probably won’t get a win ever. Unless there is some magic twist in September with the ACMS but I think she already has a couple strikes against her for that award.

I'm of the very simple and practical mindset that says - As long as she continues to supply our immediate needs, in terms of quality music output, outstanding vocals, as well as sonically, visually, and aesthetically engaging live shows - I really don't care anything about politically slanted award-voting committees that vote in strict accordance with a specific agenda having nothing to do with the purported basis of the award itself. Not worth getting frustrated about at this point anymore. Carrie has already established herself as a major presence in the industry, is highly respected and influential across a range of different genres, by veteran artists, and by the new up-and-coming female artists within her own genre. Her music continues to sell very well, and she still manages to top each subsequent tour with the next one. When you've already reached the level that shes at now, awards are no longer weighted as heavily. People put way too much emphasis on them. Just enjoy her music, live shows and side projects. I understood the frustration at first, as I shared in it myself. Now it's just beating a dead horse and resigning ourselves to a constant state of disappointment. Carrie will continue to have a prosperous career in music as long as she wants to, and that's enough consolation for me.

Putting my two ACM cents in and saying I expect absolutely nothing. Maybe a FVOTY nod, but that's probably it. Unless Carrie's team pushes hard for EOTY she won't be nominated for it because, let's be real, the brass deep down still can't accept that she won a talent show, as if she didn't work her a$$ off all the same. She had a damn CD made when she was 14, trying to make it big then. (Interesting side note: that CD was going to put her under Capitol, where she is now.) She went to talent contest after talent contest, trying to be discovered by somebody. And all that hard work clearly paid off. Look at what the hell happened: 30 consecutive Top 10 hits on Mediabase, nearly all of them #1s (I'm pretty sure DA hit #10 on Mediabase, and even if I'm wrong...she had 29 consecutive). Seven Grammys. Seven #1 Top Country Albums, the first female country artist with four Billboard 200 #1 albums. NYT bestseller. Too many accomplishments to count. But all the brass knows is that she won a talent show.
Sorry for the rant, I got 11/13 flashbacks. I hope she does get nominated, but I very highly doubt it. Imo she would deserve on the sole basis of headlining Glastonbury tho, even without the tour.
Maren, Miranda, Eric, and Luke all deserve something imo as well so I'm hoping for the best for them.

^^ She is nominated for EOTY and FVOTY at the ACMs which was pushed back to air in September unless you are talking about the 2020 CMA's which will be in November?
But yeah I dont really expect a win at either one. She totally deserves EOTY but continues to get snubbed year after year...I think last years CMA's was a big slap in the face and if I were her I would be done with the whole show. They dont deserve her and literally what else can she do to prove she is worthy of EOTY? Apparently do LESS like Garth?

She really loves these two word album titles (with Storyteller being the obvious outlier although it could be split into two).

SO EXCITED!!! I’m really happy about how this seems to be such a “thoughtful” album so to speak...not cheesy with songs such as “I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas.” Love the title of the album and also the red dress is stunning!

Album info sounds great! Seems like they really put a lot of thought into it and I’ happy to see Carrie branching Out and working with other people. Love the album title “My Gift”. How she described it had me a bit emotional. Also Glad it’s coming out in Sept so it should have a good amount of selling time this year. My one minor issue is that does the album title seem like it should be centered on the artwork to anyone else? Also not big on the font. Otherwise, Super happy and excited here!

I wonder if there will be new recordings of the Carnival Ride Christmas songs.

Considering the fact that there are special guests as in plural, I wonder if there is a duet with someone other than David Bisbal. That is still a mystery of course, but I think a lot of people are willing to bet money on that one.

That is still a mystery of course, but I think a lot of people are willing to bet money on that one. That did catch my eye. The "special guests" part basically confirms that "Tears of Gold" with David is part of this album, but that plural really has me on pins and needles waiting for this tracklist. If we actually get that Kelly Clarkson duet, I'll be on Cloud 9. Side note: Target will have a special Christmas card to come with the exclusive copies of My Gift that they'll be carrying. It's also available for pre-order here.

Anyone think we’ll get a hype single release before the release of the album?
Maybe “Tears of Gold” isn’t exactly a Christmas song, but still fits on the album, could be cool to release early.

Could be an ACM performance maybe since that is going to be right before the release! Are there any awards the album could be eligible at award shows like the Grammys?

So excited. "My Gift" is such an apropos title, because it truly is her gift to us for this upcoming holiday season! I'm hoping and praying for some fun, rousing, upbeat tracks. It looks like we may be getting that.

That cover is...a choice. The font, the colors, the far-off pose...none of it works outside of Carrie herself and that dress. Anyone think we’ll get a hype single release before the release of the album? I mean, something like this will certainly happen. But since she's releasing a Christmas album in September, it will be trickier. If she has any original songs, I expect that to be released first so it has time to build off its newness before holiday music takes over. If they aren't pushing originals, then she'll probably release a song or two close to the release date for general hype, but expect the album to do well on her name alone until late November when they can start pushing her Christmas songs full throttle. I'm sure, original or not, there will be some "singles" sent to radio, campaigned, promoted, etc.

I cannot wait for this!!!!!!
She looks stunning, but that cover is soooo blahhh - why does Carrie have to be so far away? And the font/placement of her name and title looks like it was done by a high school graphic design class. However, the music is what I’m here for and it seems, by no surprise, that Carrie is putting everything she has into this project and I can’t wait to hear the result!!!
