The chintzy background and font placement just throw everything off. Kinda bizarre actually. But whatever, just serve me vocals Carrie. I've never been a fan of her album covers in general, so this was expected.

The album cover must be her choice. Everything about it screams Carrie. Cheesy in elegant way 😅
Can’t wait for the album. Hopefully it will be more religious instead of pop christmas

As the outlier that I always am, I love the cover. The dress is gorgeous and she looks great.

One of the special guests will be the McCrary Sisters (from “Choctaw County Affair”), based on the brief clip of them recording in that trailer.

YASSSSSS, I'm about to get the Southern gospel-influenced track that I've been asking for! Hoping for "Jesus, Oh What a Wonderful Child." Take me to church, Carrie!

Yeah, I don't think the cover is bad, either. It fits the kind of very general aesthetic that one would expect for a Christmas album cover. I, for one, surely wasn't expecting anything groundbreaking and avante garde. Holiday album art is usually pretty, but basic and generic. This one is no different. There's only so much you can really do with it, without looking completely tryhard and pretentious - which isn't a good look for a holiday album, imo. As long as she looks good on it and the visual is holiday-season-appropriate, then it's fine by me.

The dress is fantastic, but everything else about that cover is a mess. Looks like baby's first Photoshop tutorial. I also can't get over just how fake that set looks. I've seen more realistic winter scenery from Walmart displays.
Not a huge fan of the title either, but I'll take a meh original title over just a basic "Merry Christmas" or "Winter" low effort title.

I think she looks stunning on the cover! The font however seems not right...Maybe Isaiah is learning Photoshop lmao
But im SO excited for this album and special guests! I hope "Tears of Gold" is more of a christian song that will be the lead single to kick off in September otherwise its pretty early for a xmas song
Also excited for the Grammys connections she is working with on this (Producer and Mixer) would be amazing if she could win her 8th Grammy finally!

What do first week sales for Christmas album usually look like? With a highly anticipated one like Carrie’s, can we expect 100K or is that too high of an expectation?

If it were anybody else, I'd say 100k would be asking far too much considering that we're still in the middle of a pandemic and we're up a creek without a paddle (in this case, the creek is the virus and the paddle is the vaccine). But I feel like with Carrie, lots of people (particularly those of us who have been waiting literally her entire career for this) will likely be taking advantage of that pre-order availability which would help the numbers, not to mention those that will go to the stores on release week and during Christmas shopping time.

First week sales are unlikely to be great, but it should hopefully do very well in the buildup to Christmas.

I think the album will do quite well for her. There are a lot of people out there that love and admire her vocally, but just don't like country music enough to want to spend their coins on one of her albums. So, a holiday album from her is right up their alley.
What do you think are the odds of us getting another Holiday special out of this? I know it'd probably have to be virtual, or at least semi-virtual- but as long as we get to see and hear her perform some of the album cuts, I'd be fine with that.

Well, with holiday specials...Oxford is trying to have a COVID-19 vaccine ready by the end of 2020 but that is VERY wishful thinking. If NBC figures out a way to make the Christmas in Rockefeller Center event virtual (as in: no audience, virtual performances, and only the hosts/people picked to light the tree being there in person), I would think Carrie and her team would hop on that opportunity to boost Christmas sales and book a performance slot. And then of course there's the CMA Country Christmas special. I know there's a way they can make that virtual. She could even try for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade if there's any possible way for that to happen (and I wouldn't hold my breath on that one in particular).

She could even do a little special live from her living room, and I'd be here for it lol.

She will definitely promote this project well - they released a promo and called it a “trailer”, lol. They’re likely giving this project VIP treatment - it’s a very highly anticipated project from a multi format superstar, whose wheelhouse is this type of music. Also, it’s something that requires little work, from a marketing standpoint, because Christmas albums sell themselves, especially from big-name artists. I mean, artists who we practically never hear from regularly all of the sudden become the biggest stars in the world for a month... All Carrie has to do is nail these songs and this will probably become a standard Christmas album for years to come. That seems ambitious to say, but knowing how much Carrie is putting into this (literally a year’s work), I have no doubt this will be special and successful. 2020 is also the PERFECT year for a project like this for so many reasons, especially from an artist who is in her vocal/artistic prime whose fans have begged for this for years.
The demand is there. This will be a moment. Especially if it’s REALLY good, which I believe it will be.
ETA: the cover is growing on me...

With COVID not slowing down in the US, I imagine promo will look weird for this. We’re just gonna have to roll with it.

Not a huge fan of the title either, but I'll take a meh original title over just a basic "Merry Christmas" or "Winter" low effort title. The Queen of Christmas herself made it her own. Anything after it will of course be basic. There is no Merry Christmas without MC... Looking forward to Carrie’s album.

I'm nervous about the mention of "trying to stay as true as possible to the classics". I support that, but I hope there's a healthy mix of classic performances, NEW songs, and modern takes on classics as well as upbeat vs. ballads as well as country cuts vs. pop cuts.
I want this to be a Pentatonix/Buble situation where this is a top seller every year for the next decade of Holiday seasons. I want the Underwood household to be raking in the cash. :)

When they launch in September or October not particularly high. It ll have its highest sales week in November or December but it’s good to have the album out prior to that

Any chance we’ll still get the Cry Pretty tour dvd/stream at some point? Her only tour I missed out on 😔

Any chance we’ll still get the Cry Pretty tour dvd/stream at some point? Her only tour I missed out on 😔 Seems like her team dropped the ball on that, so I'd say it's very doubtful at this point. We're about to reach the one-year mark from the final show date on the third and last leg of the tour. It's a shame, because it's her most successful tour to date (both critically and commercially speaking), it garnered a ton of hype at the time - and its top-notch, cutting-edge, no-expense-spared production value would have lent itself incredibly well to a DVD release and/or even a live, primetime broadcast. If it was done strategically, there could have also been potential to help boost overall sales for the CP album, giving it a second wind and possibly even an extra single. Yet another missed opportunity, though.

I truly believe the results of 11/13/2019 impacted any course of action they may have had to continue the CP era, so if there was ever a plan to release the concert DVD - which I’m still hopeful for (why not cut a deal with Netflix? How hard is that? Or HBO... something?), then they might have tossed the plans, at least for now. Or... maybe there never was a plan and it never will be? Perhaps what actually panned out in terms of DA was intentional (not the low peak, but the timing) - considering the Christmas album timing, that’s definitely plausible.
I just don’t want to believe we’ll go without seeing this tour in HD on our TVs - it was too good and would definitely be profitable for them to release.
Maybe she’ll announce this, too, and then she can cross-promote during the media blitz (however that will look given the new world we’re in?)... Wishful thinking lol. I’m good with the Xmas album, no complaints here!

I've been able to see the full concert, no stops, through fans on YouTube who had enough storage to capture the whole thing and who didn't get copyrighted, so I'm happy on that front tbh
