I've got a good feeling Magic In The Hamptons (Social House featuring Lil Yachty) could become a massive smash. It's been slowly gaining on Spotify and AM for a while, and also has TikToks associated with it. Not to mention, it's just got a nice summery vibe.

I thought it was a new song released by them until went back to it and remembered I actually listened to it when it first dropped back in 2018!

Not sure how I f*ed that up. but updated This is a great graph BUT the reason why that Lil Uzi Vert album bomb peak is so high is actually also the album bomb the week before, the Lil Baby/Bad Bunny one. Those albums did very well on week 2 as well. And for MM/Eminem there was also Halsey.

The fact that "thank u, next" is labeled "Pop" on AM but "After Hours" is labeled "R&B/Soul" is very interesting. kinda embarassing honestly, like they're so not that

How do you think the Black Rock/Indie/Alternative or Folk/Country artists (Male or Female) feel? They are CONSTANTLY fighting for representation for the music they make as non-R&B/Soul/Hip-Hop based ‘Black’ artists and rarely garner any success, and haven’t done since the 1990’s. Why? Record labels aren’t sure of where to place or categorise them, because... 1) They don’t want them to alienate a possible ‘Black’ fanbase. 2) They want them to be embraced by Black radio and mostly Urban-oriented radio stations should they not be embraced by a White audience. It’s so increasingly difficult for Black musicians the world over. White artists have no problem being stylistically/artistically versatile and being played wherever and by whomever; their is no “marketing conflict” with them. They could be a Hip-Hop artist who releases a Pop/Dance adjacent song and are wilfully embraced by Pop radio; they could be a R&B or Soul artist and are wilfully embraced by Adult-Pop/Adult-Contemporary radio. There is a reason why John Legend’s “All Of Me” was/is the most successful ballad by a Black, Male, non-Hip Hop artist in almost twenty years. It’s not spoken about as much but there is a colossal problem with White A&R executives/based labels who refuse to sign Black artists who don’t fit the stereotypical mold of what they think a Black artist should be and IT NEEDS TO CHANGE!

The fact that "thank u, next" is labeled "Pop" on AM but "After Hours" is labeled "R&B/Soul" is very interesting. I don't think that is related to their race. They're both also pretty ambiguous; I've heard a few times that Ariana "is a latina" or Abel "has to be mixed". I think that things like these are mostly related to where an artist stems from. Ari's older music is heavily pop, whereas Abel's was still a mix, but it was most heavily influenced by R&B

It was in the Top 10 for 13 weeks and then left at week 15? What happened? The Monster spent 29 weeks on chart, not sure what you mean? In its 14th week (Grammy's week), Monster fell from #5 to #12. Streaming: #11 (-1) Digital: #19 (-7) Radio: #4 (-1)
