Her third studio album that was released on December 16, 2008. The album debuted at number two on the U.S. Billboard 200, selling 322,000 copies in its first week, giving Cole her best week sales. In its second week, the album fell to number seven, selling 127,000 copies. In its third and fourth week, the album remained at number seven, selling 54,000 and 37,000 copies, respectively. In its fifth week, the album fell to number nine, selling 31,000 copies. In its sixth week, the album climbed to number six, selling 31,000 copies. In its seventh week, the album fell to number eight, selling 31,000 copies. In its eighth week, the album fell to number ten. Despite the two tracks not being singles, "Beautiful Music" and "Where This Love Could End Up" both made it on the US R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart at #95 and #79. The album has sold over 1,000,000 copies in the U.S. The album has been certified platinum by the RIAA.
I still consider "The Way It Is" to be her best album and FAR superior to the rest of her albums in the lyrical department. I just love how the songs on that album were so raw, hardcore, and gritty. Her albums after that became way more soft. I love the heartfelt lyrics of "I Should Have Cheated", "(I Just Want It) To Be Over", "I Changed My Mind", "Love", You've Changed", "Love, I Thought You Had My Back", and "Guess What?", but that's another whole discussion. "A Different Me" definitely comes in 2nd for me. I just love it from start to finish. Such a beautiful album. I absolutely think the artwork design on the album and on the CD are gorgeous! Definitely her best artwork hands down!! Very girly and flirty. My fave tracks from the album are "Oh-Oh, Yeah Yea", "Playa Cardz Right", "Brand New", "Trust", "This Is Us", "Beautiful Music", "No Other", "Please Don't Stop", and "Make Me Over".
