"Just A Kiss" by the newly-monikered Lady A bows out next, setting a new record for our highest loss of the rankdown thus far with kamala 2024 truther's #2, and also the most top 5s we have seen due to d3vin44 also putting it in his top 5. "Just A Kiss" is one of my favorite songs from Lady A, but is also hella overplayed just like all of their big hits, so I am not at all surprised to see this one end up being pretty polarizing.

What. A. Mess. I for sure thought this would make it into the top 20, but looking at the rankings this is much more of a polarizing song than I ever realized.

Anyone probably would have been able to guess that "The Bones" would end up being one of the more polarizing songs in this rankdown. It is no secret that despite it being one of the biggest country hits of the year thus far, there are quite a few of us who consider it to be mediocre at best... Personally, I LOVE Maren and wish her all the success in the world, but this is by far my least favorite single of her career so far... :/ The high passion, however, is just as predictable and expected as the low passion, as this song does have those who love it! dgarcia3377 loses their #1 and austin loses his #2, while a couple others lose top 10s. This song was never expected to finish any higher than this, and was a bottom 10 contender for the majority of the submission process.

Surprise! Our second #1 loss comes right on the heels of the first. This time the victim being kamala 2024 truther. This one also has a #2 loss, courtesy of yours truly :'( "There You'll Be" has always been one of my favorite Faith Hill songs. The way this one builds is just so epic, and is made even moreso by her absolutely FANTASTIC vocal performance I was SO happy to see this one finally join the world of rankdown winners thanks to the final rankdown of Faith's album series honoring all of her non-album songs. Big-voiced women don't typically do super well in these rankdowns though, because their songs tend to burn on people faster or rub people the wrong way or whatever the excuse is, so I am not particularly surprised by this ranking, even though I do think it is too low.

This is EXACTLY what happened with me for "There You'll Be" - I used to adore this song but I definitely don't like it as much as I used to. It's a Diane Warren song too, and her songs from what I've seen tend to be polarizing on Pulse in general.

I love 'The Bones' but am tired of it for now. I didn't want to punish it for being a mega smash though, as I am sure in a year it will be one of my favorites again.

Wow I'm totally stunned @ "The Bones" making such an early exit. I would've 100% predicted that would finish in the top 20 at least.

36. "There You'll Be" - Faith Hill

I can understand when someone's bombastic vocals can get to be too much. For instance, for as much as I love Carrie Underwood, I just can't stand "Last Name" as her vocals especially towards the end are a grating mess that should have a warning label on them saying there's a danger of hearing loss. Faith Hill, however, uses her big voice perfectly in "There You'll Be" and as you saw by my inner Dorothy being unleashed, I am HIGHLY disappointed at this result. To each their own but this deserved a Top 15 placement at the very least.

Since some of us are on a Reba high, I'll go ahead and showcase one of her Bonus Songs next!! "Is There Life Out There" became a winner once again when it won the For My Broken Heart album rankdown recently. This uptempo bop about a woman ruminating about the way her life seems to be leaving her behind as she struggles to take care of her family was a huge #1 hit, produced one of the most epic music videos of Reba's entire career, and has proven time and time again to be a quintessential Pulse classic. This song finished at #2 in the 1992 Country rankdown, #1 in Reba's singles rankdown, and then #1 once again in its album rankdown. Interestingly enough, the album produced the exact same top 2 as her singles rankdown did, "Is There Life Out There" followed by "The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia". What an iconic duo of songs!
Bonus: "Is There Life Out There" - Reba McEntire
Finished at #1 in the: Reba McEntire: For My Broken Heart album rankdown (Host: bboat11)

Something Worth Leaving Behind is seen as a bit of a "wtf" album for Lee Ann Womack, as she threw in some more modern pop-leaning production instead of her usual neo-traditional flavorings. The title track being the only song from the album that really became a hit. As the lone hit, it made perfect sense for it to be the winner of the album rankdown, even if it is not one of her most beloved hits. I'm not at all surprised to see it finish this low, and am even a little shocked it managed to last as long as it did! It actually managed to climb gradually for the entire submission process.
I will say, as odd as the album is, several of the album tracks have gone on to be among my favorites of her entire career, including "Blame It On Me" which pulled off a top 2 finish and will be in the RotB rankdown!

"It Ain't My Fault" is a really fun, catchy song to me. Easily my favorite song from Brothers Osborne so far. Nevertheless, this proved to be one of the most polarizing songs in this rankdown. It had NO ranks in the 30s; most of the ranks were either quite high or quite low! LBTrocks loses a top 5, while .indulgecountry and d3vin44 both finally lose their last place. At this point, there is only one more last place rank left, belonging to LBTrocks! And yes, one of you also ranked it at #1...

We all know by now that album rankdowns tend to be won by whichever single was the biggest hit... But what happens when there are multiple huge hits, and you don't know which of them will pull off the win? Well, when that happened with the Breathe rankdown, those two bigger hits managed to cannibalize each other while the less conspicuous single managed to sneak past and snag the victory with very little opposition!!! EVERYONE thought the finale would come down to a showdown between "Breathe" and "The Way You Love Me", as both songs are career-defining hits for Faith. However, they have both been insanely overplayed through the years, and have managed to pick up song haters along the way, which led to "If My Heart Had Wings", the still-huge-but-much-less-overplayed hit, to take it! That is one of my favorite rankdown finishes of all time, tbh, because it is still just SO unexpected. Not only did it win, but it also managed to hold #1 for the majority of the submission process while the two bigger hits took turns being boosted and tanked between #2 and #3

“Is There Life Out There” is such a gem I figured we’d see “It Ain’t My Fault” out rather soon so I was expecting that. I’m also not at all surprised to see it as one of the most polarizing songs...but to each their own this is my jam! “Something Worth Leaving Behind” is one of Lee Ann’s more underrated songs as it came from a rather underwhelming era, which is unfortunate because I think the album is one of her more underrated ones.

I'm too drunk for this lmao
"Something Worth Leaving Behind" is GORGEOUS and one of Lee Ann's best songs and should not be out now.
"It Ain't My Fault: is the jam to end all JAMS but they are polarizing so ok.
BYE FAITH! But I did not tank her, let it be known!!

And there is our resident drunkard's last place!!!!!!! Which is also Darkest Hour 's #1... Kenny Rogers has always been one of the more polarizing artists on Pulse, due to a mixture of him being before most of our times but also most of his material being perceived as either overplayed, cheesy, or not that great. "The Gambler" is one of his more definitive and iconic hits, and deserved to win his singles rankdown! I am not surprised to see it getting some ranks at the extremes at both ends of the spectrum though.

Kenny Rogers leaving us now answers the question about which "The" song will last longest, as Ingrid Andress' "The Stranger" is now the last one left :)
