You might as well go on and get it over with because I know one of George's songs is bound to be leaving at any moment.

"I Said A Prayer" was Pam's final top 20 hit, so it is fitting that it should win its album rankdown. However, I am also not surprised to see it finish this low because, again, this is a relatively obscure album in terms of Pulse. This song has a pretty catchy groove to it, but imo it just doesn't quite hold a candle to Pam's bigger and more widely-known hits.

In true boaty fashion I got thrown a bit of shade when he saw my rankings for some of Pam's songs with "I Said a Prayer" being one example. Until I listened to it for the album rankdown I honestly hadn't heard that song in years and while I don't mind it I've always found the production to be a bit grating on my ears, hence my low ranking for it.

But I feel the need to seriously question the judgement of anybody who had the likes of "Spilled Perfume" outside of their top 30... ![:sip:](//storage.proboards.com/1258812/images/WfP77sf444N0bFhVzFU1.gif)

Yup and there it is. I had a gut feeling "Go On" was on the chopping block at any moment because it's never been a Pulse favorite. I've mentioned it before but George must also not take a liking to singing this one because up until he sang all of his number one hits spread out over two nights at a Vegas show he had never before performed this live on tour.

Right on tim 's command, George loses his first non-Christmas song! "Go On" was a #1 hit for him, but tends to be one of his more forgotten hits (I don't even think George himself is that fond of the song, lol). This song winning his self-titled album rankdown was met with mixed opinions, as it does feel like a pretty obvious case of single-bias, but at the end of the day the problem was that every single album track had just about the same amount of people who tried to tank them or rank them super high, which meant that they pretty much all cancelled each other out and we were left with the singles reigning over the top 3 despite not being one of his strongest singles albums ![:dead:](http://ruadventures.com/forum/Smileys/animated/smiley_resurrect_grave.gif) Seriously, "If It's Gonna Rain" is the BEST song on this album, and should have won! I guess we'll see how it does in the album tracks rankdown... I do like "Go On" a lot, but am not even slightly surprised to see it leaving now.

"Go On" is not a very good George Strait song. It was the right one to go first, of his non-Christmas material anyway.
This is probably my favorite single from Brothers Osborne outside of "Stay a Little Longer," but they still do very little for me as an artist.

Brothers Osborne is also a pretty polarizing artist on Pulse, as they seem to have a certain "thing" going on that not everybody necessarily "gets". I know I am one who doesn't really get their appeal. They do an acceptable job when the material is right, but their album rankdowns confirmed to me that I don't think they get the material right very often... Lol
"I Don't Remember Me" has grown on me a lot though since I first heard it! 45 is about as high as I could put it in a list as strong as this, but don't think I would ever skip it if it came on!

Literally NOBODY was expecting "I've Come To Expect It From You" to be a big winner of the Livin' It Up album rankdown, which also features one of George's signature songs in "Love Without End, Amen"! And yet it managed to hang on to be a considerably strong #1 contender for much of the submission process in one of the biggest surprises of country rankdown history! "Love Without End, Amen" did end up tying for the #1 spot, but honestly I would not have expected that battle to be even remotely close... ![](http://ruadventures.com/forum/Smileys/animated/popcorn.gif) Anyway, ICTEIFY is another one of his big #1 hits, and is really catchy/clever. Y'all underrated the fuq out of it here :(

I should’ve seen one that coming based on the hint above lol! Again I’m not surprised to see any one of these songs by George leave early because that’s what I’ve come to expect. I love everything about this song...the production, the lyrics, and the way George sings it with such laidback ease.

I just love "Leave the Night On" - it's one of the songs I associate with my first semester of college too so that gives it a nostalgia factor for me as well. It's really catchy and I like how the chorus is sung pretty fast with a decent amount of words (idk why I like it though, it's just really satisfying) - it's a nice mix of country and pop music which are two of the main genres I listen to the most.

This was a really strong list. Anything I ranked above 40 could have made my Top 5 in other rankdowns, honestly.

I hate that Christmas songs don’t get a shot in these rankdowns. Both of these are awesome! If I had been smarter a few years ago, I could have probably kept the Christmas songs out of these rankdowns and just saved them for a Christmas-themed BotB/RotB once we got a certain amount of them built up... ![:dead:](http://ruadventures.com/forum/Smileys/animated/smiley_resurrect_grave.gif) I mean...you still could lol! By end of 2021 there should be plenty!

Christmas songs and that Trisha Yearwood song being first five to be eliminated is kinda predictable. But Christmas Cookies is pretty funny especially the bridge. At Christmas can also work as typically good Sara Evans song.
Most Pam Tillis I have heard from these rankdowns are so non-descript. Not that bad but hardly feels like classic or songs that people will remember after years.
I have actually heard that Jake Owen album and LAX is easily the best song from it. These steel guitars! But his vocals sound poorly mixed here, so I cannot put it too high.
Those George Strait songs deserve slightly better though. Should at least be inside top 40...
And I Don't Remember Me (Before You) left too early! I like the guitar play very much.

For our next bonus song, we honor Patty Loveless' iconic signature song, "Blame It On Your Heart". This song has always proven to be a huge rankdown force, finishing at 3rd place in Patty's artist rankdown, 2nd place in the 1993 Country year-end rankdown, and finally tying for a victory in the Only What I Feel album rankdown. It did not get included in this rankdown because it was in our last Revenge rankdown. However, it is awesome to finally welcome this one to the realm of rankdown winners!!
Bonus: "Blame It On Your Heart" - Patty Loveless
Finished at #1 in the: Patty Loveless: Only What I Feel album rankdown (Host: castleoblivion26) **Tied with "How Can I Help You Say Goodbye"**

Kicking off the top 40, we lose our second Trisha Yearwood song. "The Matador" was a HUGE surprise of a winner to me when it came in at the top of the Every Girl album rankdown over the album's big hit, "Every Girl In This Town"!
This song is AMAZING, but I can honestly see why it didn't do very well in this context. This song is one of the most picturesque and well-spun lyrical gems I have ever heard, but it definitely doesn't have the flashy radio appeal of 90% of this list. It's one of those songs that you have to appreciate in your own way at your own speed, rather than just turning it on and jamming out to it.
I look forward to seeing how well this does if there's a Trisha album tracks rankdown at the end of her album series!

I had a hard time ranking "The Matador" and finding the right spot to put it. I absolutely love everything about the song as its a lyric masterpiece, but as the host mentioned it definitely is one of those songs that you just can't randomly put on and jam out to...I think you really have to be in the mood to want to sit down and listen to this.

Oh wow I was not at all expecting to see "Hurt Me Bad (In A Real Good Way)" out this early. I can only suppose the age of the song worked against it as it was one of her earlier hits from the 90s. Still deserved better than this.
