#5 - The Time of My Life - David Cook: Love this and thought this was a great winner's single for David. It's so weird how he sang "Dream Big" as his winner's single which suits him well as it had more of an uptempo rock feel to it, but this was a beautiful song that he connected with well and sang well. One of the better Idol winning songs for sure. Dang just a spot off of a perfect rank as I put this at #4. #5 - I Believe - Diana DeGarmo: Diana did a good job with this but I feel this ranking of 5th is a little high as I ranked this at #13. But yeah Diana sang it well but it lacks the emotional connection and conviction that Fantasia's version has - so it's one I always think of more as a Fantasia song.
#4 - Home - Phillip Phillips: Oooh phew, I was kinda lowkey regretting ranking this so high at #3 as I was not wanting this to win as I thought it could, lmao. But yeah not much of a Phillip fan but this was really a fantastic and great debut single from him to launch his career. I didn't like it on the finale but it's grown on me afterwards. I had this at #3 but now I wish I swapped this with David's song. #4 - My Destiny - Katharine McPhee: Really love Katharine but pleased with this showing up. This was an interesting one because her live performance of this song wasn't too good but I do really like the studio recording and thought that was beautiful. Kat was my favorite and I do wish she could have won over Taylor but his fanbase was much too strong. This was my #9 and 2nd lowest remaining song of the runners up list so I'm good with this showing up.
Of this Top 3, I have the remaining left: Winner's List: 1, 2, 6 Runners-Up List: 2, 5, 12
Rooting for any of the songs in my Top 5 to win!

I loved Diana back when (probably my second favorite after JHUD that season). Unfortunately, that was another case like with This Is My Now and No Boundaries where the song was obviously tailor-made for one and not the other. Listening to Fantasia's version makes going to Diana impossible on that particular song. I completely agree with you on this! I'm surprised Diana's version made it to the Top 5.

She has released 9 studio albums and has earned a ton of massive hit singles. She has been a successful judge on "The Voice" for multiple seasons and is currently in her third season of hosting "The Kelly Clarkson Show". I'm glad "Change Nothing" is out, that one over-stayed a little to me at least. I always felt like that song was a (very) poor man's "Bleeding Love." Speaking of Leona, I love Kelly, but the only version of AMLT I use is Leona Lewis'. Not because Leona is a better singer, I love them both, just I prefer the way she does that one.

"I Believe" is the quintessential coronation song to me, partly with how well the song tied with Fantasia's own story, so I'm happy it won!
Because Jordin was the first time my favorite actually won since I'd started watching the show and my high school graduation happened a few weeks after she won, in my mind I tend to think of "This Is My Now" as my graduation song.

#2 - All Cried Out - Kree Harrison
Total Points: 44
.indulgecountry - #2 fireflies - #3 nathanalbright - #4 toomuchboy - #4 dee12 - #5 beyoncelover - #12 ccarter1023 - #14
Kree is the season 12 runner-up. Her debut album, "This Old Thing", features the song "Dead Man's House". She was the first runner-up to not get signed to a record deal right away. She has performed at the Grand Ole Opry. Congrats to .indulgecountry for a perfect ranking! I couldn't find her audition. (Did they ever show it?)
Which means that:
#1 - Like My Mother Does - Lauren Alaina
Total Points: 31 Hot 100: #20 GOLD
fireflies - #1 .indulgecountry - #1 beyoncelover - #2 dee12 - #2 nathanalbright - #3 toomuchboy - #11 ccarter1023 - #11
Lauren is the season 10 runner-up. Her debut album, "Wildflower", features the song "Georgia Peaches". She has released three studio albums and has sent many songs to country radio. She has collaborated with a bunch of different artists as well. Lauren was part of the cast in "Dancing with the Stars" and has recently written a book. Congrats to both fireflies and .indulgecountry for picking the winning song for our 'Runner-Ups" portion. Here is Lauren's audition clip.

Wow @ me getting an entire perfect ranking trio for the top 3 of the runner-ups! That couldn't have gone any better! Likewise seeing my favorite coronation song win. Fantasia's "I Believe" blows the rest of these completely out of the water. The buildup in that song to that epic soaring vocal is just perfection. She absolutely slayed that.

I wish I could have participated in this. As much as I love Lauren Alaina, I've never liked "Like My Mother Does" so disappointed to see that one come out on top of the runner-ups tbh.
On the other hand, I LOVE "I Believe" and really liked both versions of that song from both Fantasia and Diana. I think Fantasia had the life experience and vocal ability to really sell the song where Diana couldn't but I still liked Diana's version.

The country domination of the Runners-Up list, lol. I personally wish Kree could've pulled it out between those two, but LMMD is good. To me, there weren't clear victors on that list, so I'm not surprised the way it ended up was more random than the Winners List. I assumed Fantasia had the latter on lock from the beginning. But I did worry Phillips' "Home" would be more of a threat than it ended up being. I admit "Home" is a strong song, I've just never been a big fan myself.
Thanks for hosting! I love doing these. :)

#3 - A Moment Like This - Kelly Clarkson: Whoa, I'm really shocked this didn't win. :o Ooooh at nathanalbright for that #19 ranking. :o Also shocked how this also could have nearly been 4th place. Lmao anyway, this is like the iconic Idol winning single of all Idol winning singles. Maybe it's cheesy, but I do really love Kelly's take and version of this song and what she did with this. A great song to launch off her incredibly successful career! #3 - Change Nothing - Jessica Sanchez: Really love Jessica and I do really like this single for her. I feel like this song gets such an undeserved bad rep for some reason. But she sang and connected really well with this song. I was definitely rooting for Jessica to win over Phillip so I was bummed that didn't happen. Wow .indulgecountry is killing it with the perfect rankings! #2 - This Is My Now - Jordin Sparks: I'm pleasantly surprised about Jordin's song making it all the way to 2nd here. :o This was my #6, but I don't mind this ranking as I do love Jordin and love this song for her. She sang and connected with this incredibly well. I do question my ranking of this and wonder why I didn't rank it higher but oh well. Nice to see very consistent rankings for this getting #2 through #7 rankings here! #2 - All Cried Out - Kree Harrison: Ooh phew, I'm glad this didn't win as I had this as my #12. This is a really beautiful song from Kree, but it's not really a song I remember nor really stands out to me. It's good, not bad but just was never one of my favorites. #1 - I Believe - Fantasia: Oooh phew, I'm so glad this ended up winning as I really do think this is THE best Idol winning single there is. It's my favorite as I ranked it at #1. Fantasia did an incredible job singing, connecting and truly making this song her own. She made this such an inspirational powerful moment! Glad that .indulgecountry ranked this at #1 as well! #1 - Like My Mother Does - Lauren Alaina: Yayy this was my #2 so after my #1 got revealed, I was rooting for Lauren's song to win here so I'm really happy to see this achieve that feat! This is a really gorgeous and moving song and Lauren delivered it beautifully. Great song for her and deserving of winning it here. Also danggg.... .indulgecountry really racked up on all of these prefect ranks at the end, huh? Thanks for hosting this, fireflies! This was another fun round to participate in!

#17 - The Trouble with Girls - Scotty McCreery
Total Points: 131 Hot 100: #55 PLATINUM
dee12 - #4 nathanalbright - #8 .indulgecountry - #11 fireflies - #12 bigd79 - #15 castleoblivion26 - #18 toomuchboy - #20 ccarter1023 - #21 beyoncelover - #22
I've enjoyed Scotty's music from the very beginning. He continues to impress with each new album. This video, like many of his, features his now wife Gabi. In just a couple of months, they are about to become parents to their first child. This won the tie thanks to a #4 ranking.
