Before Whitney, this was originally sung by Chaka. From her debut solo album "Chaka". It was written by famed duo Ashford & Simpson. Iconic.
Peaked at #21 Hot 100, #30 Dance, and #1 R&B.

Iconic. Whitney's version was so faithful (I love that she even copied all of Chaka's adlibs), I can listen to either version and be equally happy.

Undeniable classic.
Hit No. 11 in the UK upon its initial release, with a 1989 remix reaching No. 8.

Initially I was more used to Whitney's version as I often heard it on B96 and WGCI. The original Chaka version is an excellent disco song and Whitney was very faithful during her more famous cover version. I occasionally heard the Chaka version as an old school cut on WGCI and V103 back then. The was also a 1989 remix that I sometimes heard during mixes on WGCI and B96 when I was younger. www.youtube.com/watch?v=7CNvODKrbU4
