what difference hot ac and top 40 ? Where i can find at40 chart ? top 40 is just mainstream hits. it's the most diverse format. you'll find actually popular songs on that format. hot ac is a format primarily targeted to adults. more veteran acts like jason mraz and the goo goo dolls chart on here just as a chart where they get some minor success. and if they become successful enough on hac, it crosses over to pop. in recent years it's become simply pop but a few weeks/months behind though. on occasion, however, we'll see hac exclusive songs reach top 10, like "have it all", "i just wanna shine", "connection", and "can we pretend" just to name a few. however, those 4 failed to cross over to pop. good examples of hac top 10s crossing over to pop would be "play that song" by train, "handclap" by fitz and the tantrums, and "africa" by weezer.

that would be amazing to see not only a 3 week #1 overtake a 12 week #1 but also for post malone of all people to score the biggest hac song of 2020 You have to look at the charts as a sport. Getting a number 1 is just a performance but the bottom line is the points scored. Look back at 2014, you had many successful number 1 HAC songs like Shake it off (8 weeks), Happy (6 weeks) and Rude (5 weeks) but the song of the year was Best Day of My Life (1 week). The first three songs had better performances on the chart but once the points were tallied up, the crown went to American Authors.

I also think that it comes down to something more basic than just targeting to adults and that is simply mass appeal music. In most markets, a well programmed HAC station shares audience with their CHR competition across multiple demos, including 12-24s. The key is sifting through whatever songs the industry is providing at this point in time and cherry picking those titles with the largest "Yeah" factor among listeners then combining those selections with a prudent array of hit music from the past 5-10 years.

Thatβs creepy. Did he record that as is in anticipation of the 50th anniversary or was it put together from various shows? Sorry to have annoyed you. It's Ken Martin's creation by modifying the Casey's intro to AT40's 5th anniversary rerun of the very first show. Ken Martin of WTOJ-FM Magic 103.1 in Watertown, NY remasters the early AT40 shows with mono-to-stereo conversion for Premiere Networks. His station plans the AT40 marathon during this weekend, including, among others, the original (mono) and stereo versions of the first AT40 show as well as the 2nd show with missing 3rd hour recreated by him.
