- A part of this 50th anniversary show's intro is the 2004 version which was used for the Ryan's first Hot AC show (December 4, 2004). I think that it may be selected as it has both the ambiance of the Casey's and Ryan's shows and as it will bring back memories for both of the Ryan's Top 40 and Hot AC show listeners.
- Ryan mentioned that Madonna, with her 16 No.1 hits, is the biggest artist in the AT40 history and played medley of Like A Virgin, Like A Prayer, Crazy For You, Take A Bow and Vogue.
- Unlike the Top 40/CHR show, he did not have a chance to refer to the highest re-entry or fastest riser in the 50 years.

This week AT40 celebrates its 50th birthday. We look back on the past 50 years and our favorite moments. We also go through a normal countdown though, so here's the summary:
This week we say goodbye to "10,000 Hours" by Dan + Shay & Justin Bieber and "RITMO (Bad Boys For Life)" by the Black Eyed Peas and J Balvin.
Kelsea Ballerini and Halsey debut at #39 with "The Other Girl". Kelsea has had 2 prior AT40 hits, neither of them ended up reaching the top 10. Can this be her first top 10? Find out in the weeks to come!
SAINt JHN has the highest debut at #36 with "Roses".
Alec Benjamin rises 4 to #34 with "Oh My God", this week's fastest riser.
Twenty One Pilots have the biggest fall this week with "Level Of Concern", falling 5 to #38.
The top 3 remains untouched this week, with "Blinding Lights" topping the chart for the 6th week in a row!

My favorite extras are The Monster and Happy.
I don't need AT40 to play Boulevard Of Broken Dreams for me anyway. I can just play it myself as many times as I want lol.

I imagine that Ryan doesn't adlib that much so what he stated was probably written for him by the show's staff. If they had properly reviewed the copy before it was aired, THEY should have been more careful or maybe this is another example of the HAC version being a second, weaker cousin to the main show; the CHR edition of AT40. What do you think?

Yes, I bet the script was incorrect. I do feel that the HAC version is a lower priority. For example, it isn't available on i-heart streaming like the CHR version is.

For example, it isn't available on i-heart streaming like the CHR version is. This has been a complaint of mine for many years. I sent an email to IHeart back in 2018 about this very issue but never got a response. It is a shame; BTW, I know that the Rick Dees countdown was made available in both formats on the app so why not IHeart?

I very much enjoyed the 50th anniversary shows (and so many Casey shows) with a lot of pleasant surprises. On top of that, I appreciate their decision to continue the celebration looking back at a great history of 50 years for all year long.
It is an extremely difficult time for everyone and every industry, including radio industry. Many big media companies like iHeart Media announced large-scale employment termination of DJs, program directors, engineers, and staff, as well as furlough of many others, so are also the case for radio stations. All of them are struggling to keep sponsors.
It is good for the AT40 affiliate stations especially in this situation that Premiere provided AT40 and many other shows to commercial radio stations in the US based on barter-trading agreement, meaning for free as far as they air the network commercials. While they will lose several minutes from their commercial spots, it is anyhow very hard for them to fill in those spots from local sponsors now. Stations also lack resources for the cost-cut plan.
It means that it is critical for Premiere to keep network commercial sponsors, which I believe is also difficult. I may reasonably guess that what happens at iHeartMedia also attacks its subsidiaries including Premiere and Mediabase. If so, some of the staff may be fired, some others may be furloughed, all of them, including Ryan, should work from home especially in light of the critically high-risk situation in Los Angeles, some staff may need to fill in or substitute other staff's assignments with each other.
So, I am grateful to Premiere, Ryan (and of course Casey and Shadoe), AT40 staff members, affiliate radio stations, and network and local commercial sponsors, for making it possible for us to listen to AT40 shows without a single disruption. I strongly desire and sincerely hope that AT40, both of Top 40 and Hot AC shows, will get through the hard times and should continue for many years from now.
