Hot take: Maren Morris didn't have enough presence in the eligibility period aside from The Bones, unless you count The Highwomen as part of her work. Brad Paisley at least has a TV special. ...why wouldn’t we count The Highwomen as part of her work? Artists can do more than one project at once; even be a part of another act. Maren Morris was arguably the rightful EOTY winner of 2020. To not even be in the top 15 is stupid. Even Lee Brice made the second round of voting. Like...what?

I would’ve picked Maren and Kane over Brice and Paisley.

How is it possible that Morgan Wallen’s If I Know Me is in consideration for album of the year more than 2 years after it was released?

Was Cody Johnson in the top 15 finalists for Best New Artist? The site is down now so I can’t look.

With that, I would assume:
Luke is in Entertainer, for sure. Probably going to talk deluxe album.
Carly is for sure in New Artist, maybe she snuck in to Female or some noms for IHYHN. Maybe she talks new single?

Nomination will be revealed on September 1st. All we need is the CMT nominations. Then we’ll be ready for all three award shows.

Maybe she talks new single? Agreed with what you've said. It also seems like one or both of Ingrid and Gabby are in for New Artist. They definitely both must be nominated (right?), but I do suppose their nominations could be for single/song of the year (seems more likely that "I Hope" would be single and "More Hearts Than Mine" would be song). I'd be ecstatic to see all three of Carly, Ingrid, and Gabby in New Artist.

Initial thoughts:
New Artist is between Morgan and Carly, but that is a predictable group. Lots of ladies! Album - yay for Ashley! I have no idea who wins here. Old Dominion seems like the weak link. Musical Event - This seems wide open as well. IHYHN and 10,000 Hours were the biggest two hits. Entertainer - I have no idea. I would think not Keith, but the other four have arguments. Thrilled there is two ladies, but I hope they don't cancel each other out. (1979 was the last time two women were in the Entertainer category together)

I am shook at Two woman being in for Entertainer of The Year (still think Maren should be there instead of either Keith Urban or Carrie Underwood imo). I do think Luke Combs is the frontrunner just fyi.
Have to imagine New Artist is a 2 horse race between Morgan Wallen who has just exploded onto the scene and Carly Pearce who while not as successful has a bit more critical acclaim. I do hope Carly Pearce does winas I like her music more and it is insane to me despite the fact that she is the 3rd most successful new-ish female behind Maren Morris and Kelsea Ballerini she has never won New Artist of The Year at either ACMs or CMAs and this is her last chance.

Really sad to see Kelsea Ballerini again out of Female Vocalist. Not terribly shocked just sad.
Looking at the fact that Carly Pearce got 3 nominations warms my heart. Hope she wins big! Also with Morgan Wallen only being nominated for New Artist while all 3 of Gabby Barrett, Ingrid Andress, and Carly Pearce have multiple noms (2,2, and 3 respectively) does make me favor the ladies for New Artist.
Also fingers crossed Maddie & Tae win duo, but Dan + Shay will be tough to beat.

Initial Thoughts:
This is actually a pretty good list! I think the CMA's did a pretty good job!
Nothing for Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton, Kelsea Ballerini, Kane Brown, Dustin Lynch, Brett Young and others. Nothing for Morgan outside of New Artist, which makes me think New Artist now favors Carly.
Female: I have to think Maren or Miranda here. It's about time Maren earns this. Male: This should be Luke Combs Song: Ugh, what a great category. Lean Bluebird, The Bones and IHYHN because they got multiple song (single/song/music video/musical event) nominations. Single: I think this has to be The Bones Vocal Group: Rascal Flatts in a send off? If not, Old Dominion Vocal Duo: Dan & Shay, with an outside shot for Maddie & Tae Music Video: I hope Homemade gets this, if not, IHYHN.

Those are seriously country music’s best 5 singles of the year? Seriously? Beer Never Broke My Heart isn’t even Combs best single in the period. Even though I’m leaving spent 7 weeks at #1. 10,000 hours is trash. The bones is pop. Bluebird, I buy.. congrats Miranda. I Hope is okay and had cross platform success, so I can buy that one as well.
I’d also like to have seen Maddie and Tae or Kip in album instead of Old Dominion. Would like to see die from a broken heart in song of the year. Let’s remember when it was released as a single... so it is in the eligibility period.
Sorry, I had to vent to someone. I think Eric deserves EOTY for double down tour, but combs will win.

These awards are both atrocious and excellent:
The positive: I love the number of women who were nominated.
The negative:
I am less thrilled that it is the same women over and over again. Maren deserved an EOTY nom over Miranda, and Bluebird shouldn't have been in both single and song. Kelsea deserved something etc
Chris Stapleton getting any noms this year is a joke, also Keith Urban. Really Thomas Rhett had a very quiet year too.
Luke C did not need a nomination in every category (Beer really?)
Country has diversity issues, somehow CMA nominations are even whiter then the overall genre. This is a recurring problem.
CMA's seems to have decided that Thomas and Combs are the two younger males who deserve nominations, Morgan, Pardi, Kane, etc should be in the conversation

Just to prepare you all, be ready to hear Luke Combs name a lot as winner. I’ve said all along he’s the second coming of Garth Brooks. Love him or hate him he’s talented and rightly deserving of every nomination he got.

Now that is a FANTASTIC EOTY category!
No clue how that will go, but if Miranda ends up winning EOTY before/over Carrie, I will probably for sure cry.
Of course any woman winning is fantastic, and Miranda is an excellent candidate. But if after last year, a woman who is not Carrie wins this year, that will really sting. I don't know how to explain it, but I can tell you now I will be torn apart. That just won't be right, in my eyes. Not that Carrie deserves to win "because" of last year, but because she deserves to win herself for years of incredible work and stinging disappointments pretty much annually. I hate this feeling because I love Miranda, and having two women nominated is a major accomplishment, I just can't see myself being happy if she wins this before Carrie. I know that sounds petty, and I know it's silly, but Carrie DESERVES this and I still feel like she's been utterly robbed. After over a decade of hosting and being heavily involved with the organization in addition to being the leading female of the genre of the century, Carrie should have already won this by now, and there really isn't a woman in country music who truly deserves it more - when looking at everything. I know 2020 wasn't massive for Carrie, and Miranda had a great year, but the second part of 2019 should be considered, and Carrie's 2019 was one of the biggest of her career and in all of country music.
We'll see... just some jumbled thoughts while I am at work.

If they exclude accomplished men because of the focus on touring no way does Miranda deserve a nomination or a win. Especially over Carrie who killed it and should have won last year.
