I don't think My Oasis has anything to do with this one's performance. No one even knows it exists unless they're already a Sam fan. The uphill climb is probably because of the string of misses. TDF has hit potential considering the 100+ streams on Spotify and 800k Riaa sales in the states, I’m ready on the other hand was the first true miss of the era, but other again it just one bad song to wreck EVERYTHING.. RIAA doesnt certify units between 500K and 1 Million. Just FYI I dont think the song with Demi was that bad. It's just there doesnt seem to be the same level of interest in Sam after the first album. It feels like Capitol is going through the motions based on past laurels esp in terms of US marketing. Same thing with Columbia and Calvin Harris but CH has it worse when not even a Weeknd feature can revive interest in NA. At least with Sam, he attracted more attention in America after Promises x Calvin underperformed here by collabing with an American gg member. After that first album something has changed where the Recording Academy consistently ignores Sam and even BB snubbed DWAS after it was a top collab last year. Now it just seems like Sam's floating along without much of a fanbase.

I know about the know about the Riaa, I’m just stating the units the single has done and Sam has a fanbase just not the type like many other fanbase that are consistently on stan Twitter... Sam has sold over 26M album units with two albums with this current era successful...

Unfortunately it's not the "Billboard" magazine chart year though. The dates are different.

Unfortunately it's not the "Billboard" magazine chart year though. The dates are different. Yes. BB = Billboard. I'm aware the eligibility period for BBMA was from March through March. DWAS was still one of the biggest duets and especially radio songs of the eligibility period. Let's not act like Billboard doesn't have room for discretion when narrowing down to five nominations. Does BB privilege longevity or does it favor peaks? Say a song hits number one for several weeks but another song is top 5 for considerably longer...which should be nominated. Do they give features the same weight as duets for collaboration consideration etc. For example, Talk was released less than a month after DWAS but lasted almost two months less on the all-genre radio chart although it stayed at number one longer. Which was a bigger radio hit? DWAS was two weeks at number one in the eligibility period, I Don't Care only 1. IDC also had a shorter radio chart run although it did fall more neatly in the eligibility period. These are all judgment calls that are nearly opposite. Perhaps nominations could be based on audience impressions which is harder to gauge from the ordinal charts, because last year I remember the radio song category included one song which never hit number one all-genre. So it's easy to see how there's a fair amount of wiggle room for the top 10 or so songs to be whittled down to 5. DWAS could have easily been nominated.

The background "hmms" in the chorus slay me each time
This needs to smash but so far it's having the typical run for a Sam Smith single and from #17ish it's going to become interesting if it will make it

I assumed the nominees were based on the point system they use for the year end issue?? Just from March to April (which I find kind of stupid anyways)

It's nice to see radio still chugging along. I'm still hoping that this can be Sam's "comeback single", although it's not like it's been too long since their last hit.

Exactly, I really think capitol’s main priority is the album that just around the corner because their not doing much to promote this unfortunately.. because it has potential
