Yes, this a different type of record and I’m happy they changed direction (if only for one album). This is the type of album that you listen from beginning to end rather than listen to singles although there are highlights like Quiet Town, In The Car Outside and Cody.

There are albums that are full of potential singles, then there are others that can be better , but their strength is in the whole product. This is one of those. I am still adapting to the songs and can't memorize all the songs yet, but one of them sounds so similar in the beginning to "Joy" by PJ Harvey!!

Sorry for the double post! BUT a thread that has only 2 miserable pages, AND it is shared by 2 albums? Man! The interest in this band has de3creased like you have no idea.
I think Pressure Machine is already my favorite album. Desperate Things and Terrible Thing are soooo sublime! I think they're flying below the radar because they're The Killers, and people want rockers (even if they tend to flirt with pop in excess), but if this was a new band, I think they'd be getting accolades and performance slots in every show. But what can you do if people only want things to dance or to feel happy?

This album is fantastic, their lyricism is at an all time high.

I’m really enjoying this album so far. I love In The Car Outside.

Still waiting for the box I ordered from their website before I get too deep into this. I am definitely never ordering a physical copy of an album directly from an artist website again after being burned by Taylor, Kid Cudi, and now The Killers. Supposedly, it willl now ship on Oct 15, but...not holding my breath. I caved because they are my 3rd favorite band ever (seen em over a dozen times live) and needed to hear it but haven't revisited it since, apart from In The Car Outside, which is now tied with Dying Breed for my all-time favorite. Sorry, Read My Mind! By the time it does arrive, it will feel like a fresh album.

"Mr. Brightside" certified Diamond by the RIAA. It's last certification was for 2x Platinum a little less than 15 years ago!

Confirmed as headliners at Boston Calling this year. They are closing out the festival. I might make a trip home just to see them.
