Dua Lipa's surprise collaboration. I like it.
This isn't the secret she is talking about. She mentioned the secret after posting about this song.

I don't want that to happen :'(

Circles just doesn't have to drop below #50 which seems safe for now, but 52 weeks isn't far away now

With all the album bombs and craziness, circles has a chance to fall below 50 so we needa keep it alive It's top 20 this week on H100 and #7 in airplay and radio isn't dropping it any time soon. It needs hell of an album bomb or five to drop below top 50 before it reaches 52 weeks. Then it is of course a different story.

J. Cole is #2 and #4 on Spotify but not with huge numbers so the debut is pretty modest this week.
Love to see What Makes You Beautiful at #27!

^Yeah. Didn't deluxe editions actually start as CD releases? I guess the two most famous once that come to mind before the streaming ones are The Fame Monster and Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection. Basically you release an allbum and a lot of fans buy it. How do you get more sales after that. After 6 months/year you add 3-5 new songs, preferably change the cover and you have Album Deluxe, and dedicated fans have bought the same album twice.
The difference between TD:TCC & TFM is that Teenage dream and the deluxe/reissue count as one, The Fame & The Fame Monster are 2 separate albums in the eyes of both Billboad & RIAA. Originally The Fame Monster was supposed to be a deluxe edition of The Fame, but Lady Gaga/Interscope decided to release it as a standalone EP. TFM was available as a sandalone EP (8 tracks) & together with The Fame (14+8 =22 total). Since it was available separate it counts as a separate album. That is why RIAA has The Fame - 6xPlat ; The Fame Monster - 5xPlat. Teenage Dream was a standard deluxe/reissue where they added aditional songs.
Back to the current Deluxe trend. - Releasing Deluxe edition the second week/ within 1/2months.
IT IS NOT AS IMPACTFUL AS PEOPLE MAKE IT SEEM.
Eternal Atake Deluxe (14 songs) accounted for 130K of the total 247K (acording to staff member of HitsDD). First week was 288K, second week of standard edition - 117K.
Pop Smoke's album had Deluxe Edition (15 songs), it will account for 50-60K SPS which is nothing compared to the first week 251K.
Bonus: Releasing more new songs kills the buzz that the original songs had. And despite what many people think, an artist releasing 15 song album and releasing 25 song album doen't have that big of a difference outside of the first 2 weeks/month. I guess what artists/labels want is to capitalize on the first few weeks when everyone is checking out the entire album so 25 songs>15 songs. More streams -> higher SPS -> inflated position.
I don't think they shold address this Deluxe thing directly, the "problematic" thing is (both RIAA & Billboard):
I will use RIAA because it has simpler rules regarding streaming, but same ѕhit applies to BB200.
Standard Album (15 songs) needs 1500 strems to count as an album unit.
Double Album (30 songs) needs 1500 streams to count as an album unit.
In the past they made a rule that each disc within the Double album counts as a sale, since the price is higher than standard albums. You sell 5 million copies (with 2 CDs each), so you have sold 10 million CDs (Diamond Album). Makes 100% sense.
The problem today: You have double the songs, don't you need double the streams to count as an album unit.
The reasong why double albums counted as 2 sales was because of the higher price than standard albums. Do i need to pay a double subscription to listen to double albums today?
BB200 doesn't count double album sales as 2, but the streaming problem still stands.
You have twice the songs you need twice the streams.

Is this simply because of a 10 year anniversary?

While true given that the deluxe tracks generally don't get as much attention as those of the parent album, they still add up not only the first week the deluxe edition but over time. There's no way that My Turn would have been #1 in the Billboard 200 for 5 weeks without it.

I feel like 1D really dropped the ball by not throwing together a compilation of unreleased tracks for the anniversary, would've easily been the biggest debut of the year.
