I think people don’t realize that he doesn’t produce most of his songs anymore. His job as lead artist is literally to “assemble a team of producers, writers, and artists to make a song” 

so basically he legitimately does nothing

I think most people know by now he doesn't even do the instrumentation of his songs and that his only job is to assemble the artists to do the work for him.

He used to make his own beats back in the 90's and early 2000's, but he hasn't done that in many many years. Now, he does more curation than production, but with these two new singles, they're literally throwaways Drake had sitting around. He went to his house earlier in the year and took them. All he did was add his adlibs at the start of the song and that's it.

It's important to state that what he does isn't exactly easy. Anyone will tell you that it's very difficult to get the biggest artists in the industry to give you complete records. Feature verses from rappers can take up to months sometimes, but Khaled gets it done because he's very determined and he's actually friends with a lot of the artists he works with. He's worked with everyone from Nas, Jay Z, Beyoncè, Rihanna, Alicia Keys, Nicki Minaj, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Big Sean, Future, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross and so many more people.

He's working on his 12th studio album now. To have 15-18 songs featuring the biggest names in music on every album isn't an easy thing to do, so I'll at least give him that.

I think Popstar & Greece will have their Spotify plays split between clean and explicit once again for another Drake release. So stupid and annoying.


Today’s Top Hits has the explicit version of Popstar yet you go on DJ Khaled’s Spotify page and you only see the clean version.

When the original hit #1, this set the record for oldest female to hit #1 (broken by Grace Slick a few years later and Cher a decade after that)

This won't go #1 but she is 80, would certainly set female age records for a charting single if it charted

Nah I’m Egyptian. But I basically know everything about Italian culture. I like listening to Italian music (aside from Sfera Ebbasta and tha Supreme). Basically I’m more Italian than Egyptian.

I've cut down your post a bit, but all this curation you're describing is also the job of producers themselves, they're not mutually exclusive, so funny why he still didn't get producer credit. It also describes what A&R people do, but of course they never get artist credit.

It's just funny that Khaled would get lead artist billing for literally just reciting the line "We the Best Music, DJ Khaled!" at the beginning of each song!
