I'll wait until the 1995 rankdown to participate in one of these as I'm actually doing a retrospective of that year myself for a project. I will check up on this thread every now and then to see how it's going.
Prayin' for Indian Outlaw, Tootsee Roll, or that godawful Baby I Love Your Way cover to make it on the Bottom 10.

Was really hoping to get to work on this earlier in the week, but I'm not gonna have enough time. Tag me in results please.
My top three would've been "Don't Turn Around", "Mary Jane's Last Dance", and "All I Wanna Do"...in no particular order. ;)

If a small extension until Monday is granted then that would be great otherwise I’ll try my best to send by tomorrow. Been very busy lately.

Just submitted my list! A much better year than 1993 in my opinion, there are only about 15 or so songs on this list I don't like.

Honestly, I feel that 1994 was about on the same level as '93. It's not a bad year, but I expected more, given that 1994 is one of my favorite years in all of music.
(My rankings will probably perform similarly in this RD, too.)

Unfortunately I will skip this year. Tbh this year for me is a huge downstep from 93. Some great songs but majority of the top 20 especially were like just how we’re some of them that big of hits, didn’t interest me as much. Will follow along.

I'm not participating, but I'd like to be tagged for the reveals. I will be participating in 1995's Rankdown, though.

I'll try to go through each song individually today. If not, I'll just send my list as is, and end up regretting how low or high I ranked some songs.

Sent. I ended up making a few major changes. This was a very strong year for hip-hop, at least. I really hope my #9, which I originally had at #7, wont place in the bottom ten. EDIT: I have re-sent with the numbers removed. Hope it's not an issue.

There are only about 7 songs I can say I downright hated this year. Other than that they were all great or just kind of in the middle.

May I be tagged in results? It's been a while since I haven't submitted for a retro Hot 100 list but I honestly just haven't been in much of a mood to submit for rankdowns lately.
(fwiw, my top 5 would have probably been "Linger", "Regulate", "Found Out About You", "At Your Best (You Are Love)", and "Mary Jane's Last Dance" - in that order)

1. What songs do you expect to see in the top 5? - Regulate, Linger, Gin & Juice, Found Out About You, and Shine in no particular order
2. What songs do you expect to see in the bottom 5? - Indian Outlaw, Baby I Love Your Way, and Tootsee Roll as I mentioned above. Plus, ya gotta make some room for Richard Marx and Michael fuckin' Bolton, man.
3. Which artist/group will have the most Top 40 entries? - Either Ace of Base or Mariah Carey but I'm taking all bets on Mariah.

1. What songs do you expect to see in the top 5? I really have no clue. I'll guess "The Sign", "Stay (I Missed You)", "Another Night", "All I Wanna Do", and "Regulate".
2. What songs do you expect to see in the bottom 5? Both R. Kelly songs, Michael Bolton, "Indian Outlaw", and "Beautiful In My Eyes"
3. Which artist/group will have the most Top 40 entries? I think Ace of Base will send all 3 of their songs top 40. Mariah and Janet have a few more opportunities than Ace of Base, but I don't think the obscure "And On And On" would make top 40 and I think a few of Mariah's ballads might miss. I would love for this to be Tevin Campbell or Babyface, but there's no chance!

1. What songs do you expect to see in the top 5? -- "Linger" and "Secret" feel like the two best bets. If both "Rain" and "Deeper and Deeper" did as well as they did in 1993, "Secret" has to be a favorite to win here. After that, I'm actually not really sure. I could see Janet getting back there with "Any Time, Any Place", even if it isn't one of her most well-known songs. "Another Night" is generally considered to be one of the defining Eurodance songs, and if "What is Love" got to the top ten, Real McCoy should have a chance at top five. "The Sign" is probably Ace of Base's best chance to make the top ten/top five, though I kind of hope it doesn't. I know what I WANT to see there, but I feel like anti-rap Pulse will, once again, come out in force. I do think that "Regulate" and "Gin and Juice" have the best chance yet to break this series' top five rap curse. Almost forgot about Aaliyah, I think (perhaps hope) she has a chance.
2. What songs do you expect to see in the bottom 5? -- The bottom five will probably be peppered with lame adult contemporary, as per usual, though I imagine Tim McGraw will show up at least once, too. There's a chance R. Kelly shows up in the bottom five, but I can't see "Bump n' Grind" being there. I hope Immature is there, but I won't count on it.
3. Which artist/group will have the most Top 40 entries? -- Either Ace of Base or Janet. I think Janet has a chance to get all four in.

I didn’t do it but I kind of get Tootsie Roll being bottom 5 even though I would have had it top 10, but why is Baby I Love Your Way being predicted bottom 5? What’s wrong with that one? I love it a lot and think that it is a great cover and would have had it top 10 too. Is it really that hated?

1. "Linger", "Regulate", "The Sign", "Secret", and perhaps one of the Janet songs that isn't "Again", or "Back & Forth". 2. Hopefully NOT "Baby, I Love Your Way". I can't see how that's worse than a lot of the boring ballads, not to mention the Tim McGraw songs. I'm gonna guess that some of those will be in the bottom five, along with "Tootsie Roll". I kinda hope "Please Forgive Me" isn't in the bottom five, either. I actually really liked that one. I second Red's notion of hoping for "Never Lie" to be in there, too. I hope "Bump N' Grind" can also escape the bottom ten, though I can see how the connotation between the lyrics and what R. Kelly did would make it unlistenable, to some. 3. Janet Jackson, for sure.

White reggae is FAR from good, but are we just gonna forget the crappy Staple Singers cover?

I don't see how "Another Night" would be a contender for the top 5. As much as I would love that, it didn't even make the top 40 in the decade-end rankdown. I know this year is considered by many to be weaker, but it'll surely have a few low ranks, and not a whole lot of very high ranks (maybe a bunch of 20's). I'd pin it for the 16-25 range. If any Eurodance song has a chance at top 5, it'd probably be "What Is Love" (as it made #8 in a stronger year like 1993).

My hate for the BILYW cover honestly stems from the fact that the original by Peter Frampton is one of my favorite songs of 1976 and while I don't mind if that song gets covered or not, I haven't heard a single remarkable cover either. Especially not this UB40-esque version. Predicting that it would reach this bottom five is kind of a stretch but it would definitely be in my bottom five had I chose to make a list for this rankdown.
I will give Big Mountain this though. At least they tried to cover just that one and never tried to blend it with a cover of a totally unrelated song. Ahem:

Linger would’ve been my #1 for this. As for my 100, originally it would’ve been General Public, but then, as I’m doing the Discord 94 battle, I decided to hear Kadison...bleh

Screw it, I may as well predict that 100's gonna be that Joshua Kadison song. Between that or "Now and Forever", a Richard Marx song I doubt anyone remembers.

Either "Beautiful In My Eyes" and "Now & Forever" being last would be perfectly fine by me, lol.
