This is a great pop song but definitely don't deserve the top spot with like 5 discounted versions on itunes, countless videos and payola. They really have devoted fanbase, don't they? itβs called hustle.. lol They most definitely deserve the number 1. Most of the streams are from the original dynamite version on Spotify and YouTube. Even with more videos and versions, fans are buying and streaming, thatβs why it is deserved. They are a force in the music industry and Deserve all the success and streams. Plus radio giving them a fair shake finally.

I mean, the performance was good but I feel like their American performances in general are always flavorless compared to their Asian ones.

Did anyone else find it difficult to understand what they were saying in that performance aside from "Dynamite"?

Did anyone else find it difficult to understand what they were saying in that performance aside from "Dynamite"? Honestly yes. RM is pretty much the only one who's fluent even though I sometimes find him exaggerating his pronunciation way too much, but I guess it's just his aesthetic. Jungkook has a good pronunciation when he covers English songs but the other members, yeah they still need to work on that A LOT.

I have to give them credit though, their dancing is really, really good. I like the song too. I think this is the first performance I've seen of them lol

Isn't this the lead to a new album? Now they gotta go to work to be able to buy 300k copies of the next single.

In term of buying power, I think BTS stans might only be second to Swifties tbh and they're still growing. I won't be surprised if their next album open close to 600k in The US

BTS stans after seeing Dynamite hit number 1 on the Hot 100 The Beatles' record! Which record from the Beatles? Iβm so happy for bts! These guys have put so much time and effort in their craft! They are even learning English, now Iβm learning Korean so I can enjoy Korean music to the fullest. LOVE THEM! Iβm not a mindless Stan though. I also participate in the pop and country threads supporting so many artists ( not just bts ). BTS is just on another level.

This sounds like something the Jonas Brothers rejected five years ago. If oatmeal had a sound, this would be it!

they will be forgotten in 5 years time, the music is total crap I remember people saying that about all pop music 20+ years ago. Get your cane and keep walking old man.

Would they have been #1 without the remixes? Just wondering. Iβm really not a fan of all these gimmicks to get a #1. Harry did it with Watermelon Sugar a few weeks ago.

I'm not a fan but I don't think they'll be "forgotten". Yes their music is generic, at least the one they get on the charts, but they're still technically trailblazing and breaking new ground for Korean acts. That plus the huge fandom is enough to get them on retrospective shows remembering these times during the next few decades.
And there's always a chance that their sound matures with their fanbase and they're able to expand to other demographics, Justin Bieber did it.

It's weird cuz i've only ever met one BTS stan in real life, like who's buying their music? I have to agree with this. If it wasn't for their rabid social media fanbase and Billboard's 100+ articles on them, I'd have never heard of these guys. It's bizarre that there's such a discord between their online presence and their real life presence in my community.

It's bizarre that there's such a discord between their online presence and their real life presence in my community. I think your age and where you live are great factors. I know more than a handful of people who enjoy their music and follow K-pop generally. Three of them definitely went to see them on tour when they played MetLife Stadium, too. I wouldn't expect them to have a ton of fans in overwhelmingly white, suburban communities. In their last tour, they played LA, NY, SF, Chicago and Fort Worth, with nearly 500,000 people in attendance across 18 dates. Edit: omg gurl Smithville, MO is 96% white? that's even more than I thought lol
