peacebone, fantastic job hosting, as always, and it was a lot of fun to take part in a retro rankdown once again. God, I'm so excited for 1985. Wait until you see some of the heavy hitters that are going to be in that RD.

2. Cities in Dust - Siouxsie & The BansheesNice to see them get another top 10 in these Rank downs. I remember this one well. I would say one of my favorites from them. I still say "Candyman" should have occupied this slot. 1. Bizarre Love Triangle - New Order...and to think we almost didn't even get to rank it? I remember a few of us fought for this one to make the top 100, and I'm glad we did, because here is the proof. For me its my favorite song from them. Something about the way the synths are played is soooo High Energy, and the part that sounds like violins seals the deal. So New order win two in a row. How fierce is that. It feels good to win one of these RDs with a song I truly feel is my favorite from this list. peaceboneGreat job hosting. I gotta say the extras here kicked my ass. There is no way I could have previewed all of them, but maybe I'll continue reviewing some of these new ones I never heard before and showcasing some highlights on my weekly chart thread.

Great Top 10, all very deserving songs. Thanks peacebone for a great rankdown. A couple new favorites I had never heard before. I still don't know what the Bangles or Steve Winwood were doing in here, but that is the craziness of the charts. Looking forward to 85 Modern Rock, and of course 86 Mainstream Rock coming imminently.

Wait. My #1 actually WAS the #1??? I don't remember the last time that happened! Thanks for hosting, peacebone.
I've said this on Discord before, but this was my favorite Alt/Modern Rock Year-End Rankdown that we've done yet. 1985 should be great!

There aren't many songs that I'd rank ahead of "Bizarre Love Triangle" but "Swamp Thing" came pretty close though and that was only a first listen for me. It's really cool that "Cities in Dust" finished in the top 2 and that "She Sells Sanctuary" made the top 5 as well. Thanks for hosting peacebone ! I can't wait to see which songs we'll get to rank in the 1985 rankdown! {FINAL STATS}

Flawless Top 5. Thanks peacebone for hosting. So many of these songs bring back some specific moments in the 80s. My ranks reflected more of how I felt back then about the songs. Regarding Shell Shock: the 7" single version available in streaming services is trash compared with the version on Pretty in Pink soundtrack or the 9+ minutes extended mix.
