Artist: Taylor Swift Single: "betty" Writers: Taylor Swift, William Bowery Album: folklore Label: Republic Records/MCA Nashville Impact Date: August 17th, 2020
Didn't see a thread for one of my personal standouts on folklore. 3 adds on country this week as well.
Chart runs: Billboard: 60-52-49-42-42-39-35-34-33-32-32-35-36-36-36-37-36-36-38-37 Mediabase: 47-44-40-40-34-36-34-31-33-34-34-34-34-33-34-35

This is going to be interesting to see honestly. I don't think I've seen a label to send three songs to four different formats around the same time, but I guess it's a smart move to cater all the possible audiences.

I want this to hit so badly Hopefully they actually give it an adds date because I could totally see this making a dent.

Oh wow, @ her giving country radio something again! Smart move! If "New Year's Day" could almost hit top 40 with no real effort, then I imagine this could at least do that well if they actually try to get this played. And despite what some may think, country radio still seems to have a favorable opinion of Taylor Swift, so I could see this pulling in some decent airplay.

This is hands down one of the best country songs of the year and one of Taylor's best country songs ever. I couldn't care less how this fares on country radio, but it would be pretty cool for Taylor to have a hit again in this format. Such a great story telling song.

This is the only song on her new project that I enjoy but itâs a great one. Hopefully it does well for her.

I give this about a 0.1% chance this reaches the top 40, its super boring and its almost 5 minutes long. Total snoozefest.

Taylor is such a talent. Iâve not been as much of a consumer of hers lately, but I have listened to much of her new album. Because of its subject, this song brings me back to her younger days in the best way. Not often do we get to see the evolution of a songwriter in this way. Taylor was clearly a great songwriter since the beginning, but the depth in simplicity matched with the dynamic phrasing and composition choices here.. It is verging on a country masterpiece. I hope radio gives it a chance.

I mean, I hope youâre not a betting man because thatâs a terrible line. 99.99% chance this doesnât go top 40? Really? I say itâs 50/50 and you may me right but that prediction is laughable.

Not one of my favorite songs in what I think is a strong album, but I would be happy if this will perform well on country radio.

The clean edit for this replaces the "F word" line with "would you tell me to go straight to Hell?". I don't know how much play this will get but I love this song.

Love this! "Betty" is one of my favorites from folklore, which has pretty quickly become my favorite Taylor Swift album (makes sense because I really like The National, Bon Iver and Jack Antonoff). Hoping to see this do something at county, but I''m not expecting much.

I'm seeing "Republic-MCA Nashville" for the label information for "betty" (whereas "cardigan" only has Republic) so I'm assuming MCA Nashville is handling the push to country radio?

Just sent to country radio. Impacts August 17th.
Republic is the label but MCA Nashville will push it to country radio.

I know they half-pushed New Years Day, but did that get an actual adds date? Is this her first since Red (not counting Babe)?

I believe that "New Year's Day" did get an adds date, but not much of a real push.
I haven't had a chance to dive into folklore yet (I did buy it from her website though), but I absolutely love "betty". I hope it is a big hit at country radio. I'm not too sure what to expect, but I wish her all the success in the world with it.

This is SO exciting to me. Whitney Allen played this song during her show the other night and it just sounded... so freakin' refreshing to hear Taylor singing a magnificent country song on country radio again. I am all in for this to smash in our format.

Love the song, such a vivid story, doesn't feel close to being a 5 minute song. Hope it's her first country hit since... Red?

It's worth noting that in addition to what's been said above, "New Year's Day" isn't particularly country by Taylor Swift standards. It seemed more like a song that COULD be something country radio played. Whereas "betty" sounds distinctly early Taylor Swift country. I can absolutely see radio taking this song up the charts to a solid peak for that reason.

"Betty" sounds like the right choice to Country Radio, it reminds them old Taylor with tinges of new Taylor. I love the song.
