I love that "State of Grace" is getting love in RD lists (as in being included in RDs)! Looks like a stacked list. Also you should fix "Reckless" before bboat11 notices!

Lmao Tenille Arts is the good one tho.... See I would've agreed with this had I not listened to The Lemonade Stand but after listening to that album, I think Tenille Townes is the better one for me... I recommend it if you haven't listened to it!

I recommend it if you haven't listened to it! I don’t have a particular opinion one way or the other regarding either, but Tenille Townes is an example of other artists including Ingrid Andress and Gabby Barrett who are better suited to be featured in the decade after the twenty-tens hence why they were not included.

Bad news: I don't know/remember many of these songs.
Good news: I'm doing this rankdown anyways!

There are some tough decisions in my top 10 rank...
(*insert obligatory why xx is not in rankdown comment here* Also some of song selections are...not representative of artists' best work in the '10s)

It's time for our first update and reminder! Since the launch of the rankdown less than two weeks ago we are already at four participants which is a great start. There is still plenty of time left as this isn't due until Wednesday, September 30th, which gives everyone about 7 More Weeks to procrastinate on! Just like I did in the previous series I'm going to highlight an artist and song from this time period in country music that for whatever reason just didn't quite make the cut to be included. The first artist is Jewel who of course has charted a handful of songs on the country charts with the first being in 1999 with the Merle Haggard duet "That's the Way Love Goes". She'd go on to chart another three songs in 2008 with "Stronger Woman” becoming her biggest hit where it peaked at #13. She'd go on to chart another three songs from the album Sweet and Wild including the Top 35 hit "Stay Here Forever" in 2010. Participants: 1. Kanenrá:ke 2. d3vin44 3. tim 4. recordyear

I meant to do a reminder yesterday for this, but nonetheless there is still plenty of time to get this done! After a promising start I haven't received any additional lists, but not to worry as y'all still have until Wednesday, September 30th, which gives everyone about 5 More Weeks to work on! Ashton Shepherd is another artist I considered for this era as she released her sophomore album as well as two other albums independently during this decade. Ashton's big break actually came in the summer of 2006 when after having entered a talent contest in her local hometown of Alabama won the prize of opening for Lorrie Morgan in concert. While performing as Morgan's opener, she was spotted by a representative of MCA Nashville Records who then signed her to the label in 2007. Her debut single, "Takin' Off This Pain," was released in September 2007, the same month in which she made her debut on the Grand Ole Opry. Shepherd's third single, "Look It Up," was released in early 2011 as the lead-off single to her second album for MCA Nashville, Where Country Grows. The song became her second Top 20 hit on the chart reaching a peak of number 19 in May 2011. The title track was released as the second and final single from the album, and reached a peak of number 42 on the charts, becoming her first single to miss the Top 30. Shepherd ended up parting ways with MCA Nashville in mid-2012. Participants: 1. Kanenrá:ke 2. d3vin44 3. tim 4. recordyear

Since the previous update I've received two additional lists which brings us that much closer to double digit participation. For now I'm going to keep the current due date of Wednesday, September 30th, which gives everyone 3 More Weeks to work on this. Sarah Buxton is another artist that was on the shortlist of those that I wanted to feature for this decade, but her commercial success peaked in 2009 with the Top 25 hit "Outside My Window" (she was previously featured in the Country Girls of the 2000's rankdown from late last year). Much of Sarah's success during this decade came in the form of her songwriting where she accumulated a handful of hits including "Put You in a Song" by Keith Urban, "That's Why I Pray" by Big & Rich, and The Band Perry's "Don't Let Me Be Lonely" in 2013. She also was a prominent co-writer of several songs for the ABC TV show Nashville including "Yellin' from the Rooftop," "Loving You is the Only Way to Fly," "Stronger Than Me," "Every Time I Fall in Love," and "Nothing in This World Will Ever Break My Heart Again" for which she and her co-writer Kate York received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics. Highlighted from this decade is "I Need A Hero" from the 2011 motion picture remake Footloose. Participants: 1. Kanenrá:ke 2. d3vin44 3. tim 4. recordyear5. lipe6. mamooshka

In the anticipation of extending this I had forgone the two week update this past Wednesday, but in looking at the country rankdown calendar I think it's best to try and stick to the original date. Since then I've received one additional list from bboat11, so for all you other cool cats and kittens that like to procrastinate you still have until Wednesday, September 30th to get this done. In the lead up to the due date I'll be more than happy to make accommodations should anyone need more time. Julie Roberts is the next artist I wanted to showcase as she was previously featured in the Country Girls of the 2000's rankdown. After signing with Mercury Nashville she released her first self-titled debut album in 2004 which contained her first and only Top 20 hit "Break Down Here". She followed that up with her sophomore album Men & Mascara in the summer of 2006 and while none of the singles charted the album did reach No. 4 on the Top Country Albums chart. Roberts and Mercury Records parted ways at the beginning of May 2010 and in 2011 she independently released her third album Alive. In 2013, she took part in the Blind Auditions of fourth season of the reality television show The Voice but failed to qualify. The exposure led her to sign a recording contract to Sun Records in which she released her fourth and final studio album Good Wine & Bad Decisions. Participants: 1. We've officially reached the moment to announce that this is your ONE WEEK REMINDER as lists are due by next Wednesday, September 30th! Even with the two additional lists I received since the previous update we're still 11 participants short of the turnout from the Country Girls of the 2000's rankdown, so I'm assuming everyone is just procrastinating on this and I'm going to get a slew of lists in my inbox...or y'all just need more time. I'd love to have all of the previous participants join in so I'm more than happy to make accommodations for anyone still interested, but I just ask that you reach out to me and let me know. While I will be doing more honorable mention showcases for artists that were not included in this rankdown, I wanted to make sure and highlight alternative country artist Elle King as much of her material encompasses elements from country, soul, rock, and blues. She released her Gold-certified debut album Love Stuff in 2015 which featured the single “Ex’s & Oh’s”. The song would go on to become a #1 hit at Alternative Radio as well as being certified double platinum. In 2016, she teamed up with country singer Dierks Bentley for the song “Different for Girls” which would go on to win Musical Event of the Year at the CMA Awards that same year. King released her second studio album, Shake the Spirit, in 2018 which she made with her band the Brethren. Aside from her two headlining tours, she was one of the opening acts for the Dixie Chicks on their DCX MMXVI World Tour as well as for Miranda Lambert's Roadside Bars and Pink Guitars Tour in 2019. I wanted to make sure to do a weekend reminder in hopes that some of you will take advantage of the time to knock this out, so with that said this is your FIVE DAY WARNING that lists are due by this upcoming Wednesday, September 30th. While we've officially reached ten participants we're still only sitting at half of the turnout from the previous series. With that said, I know everyone has a lot going on so I'm more than willing to be flexible. Once Monday rolls around I'll see what participation looks like and will adjust the timetable accordingly to allow for that. Participants: 1. Kanenrá:ke 2. d3vin44 3. tim 4. recordyear 5. lipe 6. mamooshka 7. bboat11 8. castleoblivion26 9. dgarcia3377 10. toomuchboy

My list will be in tomorrow! Lies! I held off on doing a reminder yesterday as I wanted to wait and see what the weekend brought...and luckily two more lists came in which gets us to 12 participants! I'm still holding out hope that we can match the same turnout for the last series (20) as there are still a whopping ELEVEN previous participants who haven't submitted yet (including austin, George Strait Junkie, taylor, ClevelandRox, Cody Wants Out..., LBTrocks, gardyfan, .indulgecountry, nickd, SHOOTER, and BackwoodsBarbie). As I mentioned previously I wanted to remain flexible with the due date and give y'all a chance to still submit....so, considering I had set it for this upcoming Wednesday I've decided to extend this out one final time to Sunday, October 4th. This gives you all one more weekend to work on this. Participants: 1. Kanenrá:ke 2. d3vin44 3. tim 4. recordyear 5. lipe 6. mamooshka 7. bboat11 8. castleoblivion26 9. dgarcia3377 10. toomuchboy 11. someguy12. Sambalada
