Ruthie Collins ”Dang Dallas“ Why you so far from me? I guess I couldn't keep you warm Singing songs in Tennessee
All I ever wanted was to be your gal I guess I never told you and it hurts like hell Now the only place I can hold you is in these songs we sing
Jessica Harp ”San Francisco“ Well we followed the wind, taking life with ease And an infatuation with being free Baby I still love you, I still love you like I did When it was just you, San Francisco and me
Yola ”Faraway Look“ You lit the candles on the cake And threw the match down on the floor Wish I knew what you were wishing for Handing out the paper plates To all your friends that you adore Are you haunted and wanting more? ”It Ain't Easier“ When you've found someone to love And you think that's enough That your work is done You relax just too much Let a beautiful thing turn to rust No time for singing in the mornin' Too late home to hold at night Could we be all that blind? To let it slip away with time 'cause I know
Tenille Arts ”Cold Feet“ Rain on the sidewalk and doubt in her mind One thing's for sure, she's runnin' out of time To decide what's right And whose heart she's willing to break
She should be happily wrapped in a dream Safe in a warm bed and sound asleep But here she is walking back home From a long night down by the creek
Sunny Sweeney ”Bottle By My Bed“ It's an empty room at the top of the stairs Watching the evening news with a couple of beers I only call my husband baby cause I love the word Never wanted something so bad that it hurts Even give up these damned ol' cigarettes If I could have a bottle by my bed

I'm not too upset with most of this set, but Yola and Tenille A deserved better. Yola in particular deserved a Top 20 showing. What a voice she has.

And, yes, Yola’s voice is everything! I was hoping for a top-30 finish but I can’t say I’m too surprised she’s already gone.

I want to add, if we're talking about Maggie Rose, I much prefer her more Americana-leaning materials like "Preacher's Daughter" and "Pull You Through". The song used here kinda put me to sleep lmao I know somebody's gonna mention that sooner or later but yeaaa, I prefer when Maggie make those kinds of songs

Alright buckle up everyone as I'm going to move right along with the next and last set! Here are a few things to expect for the five songs that miss the Top 30: - Only 18 points separate the five songs of which there are only six bottom five rankings
- There are two ties in this set between song #31 and #32 as well as #33 and #34
- The tiebreaker for #31 and #32 went to the song that had the 5th lowest standard deviation
- A third participant will lose their second top ranking song which was used as the tiebreaker for songs #33 and #34
- In addition to the one above, three other participants will lose a top 5 ranking while five others lose a top 10

Stats for #35:
The first song to exit this evening mostly hovered around the top 45 and 50 for most of its run and only snuck into the top 40 as the final two lists came in. This only received one bottom five ranking (and second to last at that) while two other participants put this as their third top ranking song.

Stats for #34:
Our next two songs are tied in points with the tiebreaker going to the one of which received a top two ranking. While this one was not as polarizing and did receive two top ten rankings (including from yours truly), it also picked up two (very questionable) bottom five rankings. Thanks to its early support this song actually got as high as #11 and remained a rather strong top 30 contender for its entire run. It was even able to withstand both of those bottom five rankings up until the final list came in which bumped this back four spots and out of the top 30.

And thousand-year storms seem to form on a breeze Drowning all living things in their paths And when a small southern town finds a rope in a tree We're all once again trapped in the past

I know somebody's gonna mention that sooner or later but yeaaa, I prefer when Maggie make those kinds of songs I mean, I do too. Basically the entirety of Cut to Impress (one of my favorite albums of the last decade) shits all over the song tim included in this, sadly. I was just judging you saying "Preacher's Daughter" leaned Americana while saying Margo Price's song was country pop when she actually is Americana.

What a disappointment to see "The Age of Miracles" not make the top 30 after being such a strong contender for its entire run...and only to be sent to its lowest position at the very end! I fully expected .indulgecountry to lump this into his bottom five so I wasn't surprised by that. I was relieved to see, however, that it was able to withstand that hit up until the final list came in with a third bottom 10 ranking. Of all the reveals I've had to type up this far this one has been the most disappointing for me! That said, in choosing this song I really had no idea of what to expect and considering Mary Chapin Carpenter's is usually that well received in the country Pulse community I had already set my expectations low for this. Much to my surprise, though, it ended up receiving quite a bit of support!

"The Age of Miracles" overstayed. I liked some of MCC's 90s hits ("I Feel Lucky" remains her best), but a lot of the more recent stuff I've heard from her has been a hard no from me, honestly. Whatever that song bboat11 included of her's in the recent New Country Releases rankdown was absolutely terrible, i.e.

Other than "Better" and "Preacher's Daughter", there is little about her Cut to Impress album that I actually like. "Better" would've been an easy choice to select to showcase for her in this rankdown, but I also found myself liking her style and the production on "Love Me More" compared to her earlier material.

Stats for #33:
While our next song won the tiebreaker, it also means that another participant will join the ranks of those who have lost their second top ranking song. This was a bit more on the polarizing side, however, and wasn't nearly as strong of a competitor when compared to "The Age of Miracles". This also received one additional top five and top ten ranking along with one lone bottom five.

To each their own, but my least favorite songs from Cut to Impress are still better to me than 90% of her output since, lol. I loved her back then but sadly I haven't been terribly interested in her as of late. It's a shame her label shuttered just after she was actually making some headway on the charts. :/

Stats for #32:
The next song remained a consistent top 40 contender and even flirted with the top 30 for much of its run. Reaction to this song is quite varied as this female artist isn't someone who often gets in the Pulse country community, however it did pick up a handful of top 20 and top 30 support while only receiving two bottom five rankings. I lose another top ten ranking while a fellow participant loses their second top five song.

"Drinkin'" is not just one of my all-time favorite songs from the 2010s, but Holly's album The Highway is quite possibly one of the best country records of the decade. I was fortunate enough to see her live some years ago at Gruene Hall (where George Strait got his start) down in New Braunfels, Texas, and it was a very captivating acoustic set. I know that she was in the process of recording her fourth studio album with famed producer Dave Cobb, but the album has continuously been delayed twice and for good reason...she gave birth to her first daughter and then son in that timespan! She has since seemed to settle in to a quiet life back in Tennessee as she is the owner of a local women's boutique near Nashville.

Stats for #31:
As I mentioned at the outset of this evenings reveals, both this song and the one before it were tied in points making this our second tie of this set and the third overall. While the previous song did garner a top five placement, this turned out to be much less polarizing overall as it comes in with the 5th lowest standard deviation. This picked up one lone top ten ranking and unfortunately for them becomes their second top 10 song to exit. This garnered only one additional top 15 ranking along with three others who put this in their top 20. While this didn't receive any bottom five rankings, two others did put this down in their bottom 10.

Terri Clark ”Some Songs“ Some songs need a highway Some songs need a church Some songs need a tear And some just need to heal the hurt Three and half minutes of magic It's so good then it's gone Melodies and memories gone The good ones leave you hanging on
Trisha Yearwood ”For the Last Time“ I never thought forever'd Ever be for me I could only guess that happiness wasn't meant to be But now both are mine For the first time I'm in love For the last time
Mary Chapin Carpenter ”Something Tamed Something Wild“ So the things that matter to me now are different from the past I care less about arriving than just being in the path Of some light carved out of nothing The way it feels when the universe has smiled What else are there but the beating of your heart?
Holly Willians ”Railroads“ Oh the wheels, they spin, they're faster than a speeding aeroplane on a sunny day And I can't break free cause I can't believe it's me So I'll take your bets, I'll try me walking down a narrow line with a life like mine And you'll never see any boy as brave as me Yeah I hope that this old railroad delivers me ”Waiting On June“ Waiting on June, so we can kiss goodnight Waiting on June, I'll hold her hand so tight Waiting on June, I'll love her 'til I die It's bittersweet when love grows old and you really miss your wife Waiting on June
Runaway June ”Trouble With This Town“ When I go out it's everywhere I go, everywhere I look Stuck in it up, merry-go-round I'm hanging on a neon heart Nowhere to hide and there's nowhere to run I wanna be over him and done But he's still out there kicking my heart around That's the trouble with this town

Oh, I forgot to comment along with "Head Over Heels" as that ended up being one of the more disappointing singles from this past year. I thought for sure this sounded like a surefire hit, but unfortunately whatever moment they had after "Buy My Own Drinks" didn't carry over to this song. I'm not entirely confident that "We Were Rich" will be the hit that everyone thought it might be when it was first announced as the third single, but either way I do hope that they'll see further success with whatever they should follow-up their debut album with. I've come to enjoy this group quite a bit and wanted to make sure to highlight my favorite song from the album "Trouble With This Town" above in the encore section.
