Very interested in the results here as it's not usually listed as a favorite album when she's discussed but I do feel most people do like it!

Hey everyone! Sorry, I am not starting results just yet, but I just want to call your attention to a Terri-related activity that her fans may be interested in. I am representing Terri in the current game of World War Top 40. Essentially the premise is that artists' songs "attack" each other, gaining points for winning matchups and losing points for losing matchups. Of course winning/losing is determined by us fans voting on the matchups. I am currently fending off attacks from the likes of Mariah Carey, Britney Spears, David Bowie, Marina, and Kylie Minogue, so Terri could use all the help she can get!!!! On top of it all, castleoblivion26 is also facing some tough matchups with Martina McBride, Kanenrá:ke has Shania Twain, and taylor has Faith Hill, so there are a lot of country queens that could use your help! And fellow Tractor .indulgecountry also is in, although he has Shakira. (Not a country artist, but still deserving of love!) If some of you would please consider voting to help them out, that would be amazing! We have until basically the end of the day Wednesday to get all the votes in! World War Top 40 Thread

Predicting "Gypsy Boots" wins and "Poor Girls Dream" is last. "Gypsy Boots" I agree with, I feel like even though it's a single "You Tell Me" is going to have a chance at last place. If not that then I agree with you that "Poor Girls Dream" is the next most likely bottom song. Lemme just predict the top 10 10. You Tell Me 09. Poor Girls Dream 08. If I Could Be You 07. What Happens In Vegas (Follows You Home) 06. The One You Love 05. Tough With Me 04. Merry Go Round 03. A Million Ways To Run 02. If You Want Fire 01. Gypsy Boots

As predicted by Kanenrá:ke, the album's closing single "You Tell Me" came in with a very convincing last place performance! Oddly enough our aforementioned moderator/Terri Stan was the only person to get a perfect ranking here, but despite that fact it was still our least polarizing song, and sat in last place for nearly the entire submission process. The vast majority of us put it in our bottom 3, so this never got the rally that it needed to not be a bottom contender. Still, this isn't without some pain as ccarter1023 and codyj100 both endure a top 5 loss already. It's unusual for a single to be last place in an album rankdown, but then again this one was last place in the singles rankdown, so it's not terribly surprising! I do think there's a really good song in here somewhere. That chorus is pretty great to my ears. But the verses are pretty forgettable, and ultimately I find this one to be one that I am just never in the mood for for some reason.

Aside from Kanenrá:ke's #4 rank right at the beginning, "Poor Girls Dream" was also an immediate and constant fixture in our bottom 2 throughout this rankdown. It hung out in the penultimate position the entire time, and ended up being our second least polarizing song, with the majority of people putting it in their bottom 4. This one did end up getting more hate than "You Tell Me" thanks to its THREE last place ranks, but ironically it was Jordan's very first #4 rank that ended up having it win the tie that saved it from last place in the end

Yet another very consistent contender rounds out our bottom 3, as "What Happens In Vegas" was basically our runaway #8 for the entire rankdown. It finished a full 10 points higher than the bottom 2, but about 15 shy of #7, so it did about all it was ever going to do here.
I do think this one is pretty catchy and fun, but it's far from a standout on this album, so I am okay seeing it leave now.
I'll go ahead and stop there for now, and then see how far we can get tomorrow!!!

No complaints on my end as each one of the three songs also happened to be in my bottom 3 (albeit in somewhat different order). They were easily the weakest links from the album as nothing really distinguished them enough from the rest of the pack.
I’m sure they had their reasons for opting to release “You Tell Me” as a single, but to me at least “Tough With Me” would’ve been a better option as it’s more or less in the same vein as the rest of her catalog of hits. Speaking of, I'm sure that one will be sticking around for a bit longer lol.

"Poor Girls Dream" is flat-out one of the worst songs Terri Clark has ever recorded.
"You Tell Me" would be better with a more capable duet partner. Even with Johnny Reid's... voice, I still enjoy the song though, so I imagine it could've moved up quite a few rungs for me if she'd been singing with someone who matched her talent.

In a similar spirit to all the other songs that have been revealed so far, "Merry Go Round" was yet another consistent contender in this rankdown, settling in at #6 or #7 for practically the entire submission process. This will be the last consistent performer for awhile, however, as the next few songs are all VERY close to each other, and bounced all around each other for the entire submission process!
"Merry Go Round" features some incredible lyrics, such as one of my favorites, "Living too bright to soak up the sun", but otherwise kinda blends into the background of this album for me.

So, I absolutely LOVE "The One You Love".......on the Pain To Kill album! The song itself is still a lyrical masterpiece in both contexts, of course. But sonically, I prefer the mid-00s mainstream country arrangement that they gave the original version of this song on PTK verses the more subdued, soft arrangement that they gave it here. To me the original version sounds like it could have been a smash hit, while this one sounds like a pointless acoustic version of a smash hit. (And it is a FACT that acoustic versions of songs are useless about 99% of the time, lmao). Unfortunately we round out the bottom 5 with castleoblivion26 suffering the first #1 loss of the rd, and taylor and tim join him with top 2 losses. All I can say is, y'all feel free to bring this same energy to the Pain To Kill rankdown!!!!

We kick off our top 5 with a song that packs a real wallop!!!! Not only in the emotional sense, but also in the competitive sense. Competitively this one was a total beast as it vacuumed up the #1 ranks like they were cheerios under a highchair. taylor, 🌺CountryLineDancer, and ClevelandRox are the unfortunate victims of this crime. And of course lyrically, this is a song that could leave you in shambles if it hits you in the right mood... This is ultimately a story of friendship, but that simple dissection of the premise comes nowhere close to doing any justice to this song... It ends up being a tale that is both emotional and poignant. The fact that our narrator started out jealous of the other girl for being so perfect, only for the other girl to turn out to be jealous of the narrator for the same reasons, makes for a compelling story in an of itself. But then there's the fact that the friend is sick, and the narrator wishes she could literally switch places because she loves her friend so much that she would end her own life in an instant if it allowed her friend to keep on living... :'( Ugh, it is SO well-written and emotional! I could understand somebody not being fully into this one melodically, so I'm not surprised to see it pick up a little resistance along the way too. But this will be an interesting one to watch in the album tracks rankdown!!!

Our top album track bows out next at #4!!!! Which is a little bit of a tragedy when you consider that it was a consistent top 3 contender for nearly the entire rankdown, before being pushed out of the top 3 by a single point with the final list I have loved this one from the moment I heard it With that singsongy engaging chorus, this feels like the closest thing on this album to something that would have been on one of her previous albums, like Life Goes On or Pain To Kill.

I have #5, 6, and 10 left. This is pretty disastrous for an album RD even in my standard. At least glad to see three #1s for If I Could Be You.
