A performance of "Drunk" already had me perched, but the fact that they're opening the show with it has me even more excited. They're going to absolutely SLAY and I can't wait. I feel like with them performing on the ACMs, there's gonna be a lot of hype around the song and while I was skeptical of them releasing it to country radio given that Miranda's still got some mileage left in the Wildcard era, but I think she's probably in a good enough spot lately that perhaps she could get away with having two songs with her vocals on radio at the same time because "Drunk" just feels like almost too good to pass up on. We'll see what happens after the ACMs, I suppose.

I’d love to see it get a radio push too. I agree that Miranda is getting herself to a place now where two singles at the same time could work for her. I still hope that a couple more singles come from the album, but I would love the Elle King duet to also get a push.

Another week of fantastic callouts. It actually has the highest net positivity and the lowest burn rate! Amazing!

I've always been in the minority on Pulse in that I haven't cared for 90% of Miranda's music; from her early career I liked "Kerosene" and "Famous in a Small Town" well enough, and I always liked the lyrics to "The House That Built Me" but felt that it just sounded a bit too sleepy to my ears. I simply disliked a lot of her other singles, not because I don't think she's talented (she clearly is, as a singer and songwriter), but just because her sound has never appealed to me all that much. Every now and then there was a single I really liked (something about "Smokin' and Drinkin'" made it a big favorite of mine, but it wasn't the most radio-friendly song and she had low momentum when it came out due to the polarizing "Little Red Wagon", which I detested).
But then came "Bluebird" and I was blown away by how good it was. I knew that if even someone like me liked the song, that had to be a good sign for its radio prospects, and now I'm finding myself really enjoying "Settling Down" as well. In my opinion, "Bluebird" and "Settling Down" are both really well written and really catchy. They're really well-produced, in a way that makes them super radio-friendly (and not polarizing) without sacrificing lyrical quality or a pretty genuine country sound.
I think "Settling Down" has a good chance to go the distance and reach #1 on Billboard, which would give her back-to-back Billboard #1s for the first time in her career (it's crazy that that hasn't happened yet) and would be her 7th Billboard #1, joining "The House That Built Me", "Heart Like Mine", "Over You", "We Were Us" with Keith Urban, "Drowns The Whiskey" with Jason Aldean, and "Bluebird". I definitely feel that "Bluebird" and "Settling Down" are the best 1-2 punch of her career. That's arguable, obviously, but personally they're my two favorite singles of hers, along with "Smokin' and Drinkin'".
It's also crazy at how her career has unfolded in terms of radio success. After her 2013 smash "Mama's Broken Heart" (one I didn't like, but it was huge and deserved to do better than a #2 peak on Billboard), 8 of her next 10 solo singles missed the top 10 on Billboard, with the two top 10s being "Automatic" (had the advantage of being a lead single) and "Somethin' Bad" (had the advantage of being a duet with Carrie, but even with two mega stars it still stalled at #7). But then all of the sudden she comes out of nowhere with a #1 smash in "Bluebird", and I truly think she can get back to the top again with "Settling Down".

Enters the Top 10 at #9 on Mediabase. I definitely agree with this sentiment this should hit #1, there's always the chance something funky happens, but I am like 99% sure this will hit #1 on both charts.

I haven't heard this on the radio for a few weeks. I wonder if any other stations have dropped this to play the Elle King duet instead like mine has?

Sorry for the double post but I just looked on Mediabase at my local stations playlist and this dropped from 27 to 40 on my main station. And Drunk has moved from 26-16 so looks like I was right in that they dropped Settling Down for Drunk. Disappointing. The other station here on the panel it dropped from 28-30 and Drunk does not appear on theirs.
Also took a look at the top 5 markets and Nashville and they all are staying even or slightly up or down so it looks like my station is an outlier with the song.

I would love to see the Elle King duet get pushed after this one. I hope that it doesn’t impact “Settling Down”’s chances of going #1 though.

Yeah, I would really love to see Miranda get this one to #1 and then have “Drunk” start hitting the country airwaves, where I would wager it has a chance to also hit #1, giving Miranda three consecutive chart-toppers for what I believe would be the first time in her career (and that it would be the first time boggles my mind). I don’t know about anyone else other than gardyfan but “Settling Down” still gets played on my local station like 546283 times a day. Which I don’t mind of course, lol

RCA Nashville will try and get Miranda to #1 -- likely the last week of July. The plan was to release "Drunk (and I Don't Wanna Go Home)" late enough in "Settling Down's" chart run to not run into any potential issued with two singles at once, but "Settling Down" is definitely looking like a future #1 later this summer.

Hope this one is just having a fluke week this week because it lost its bullet. Still selling and streaming well, along with pretty good callouts. Hope #1 is still in the cards for this.

Sabre said on Twitter this morning it's fine. Luke clogging it up and Drunk impacting def isn't helping. And she's at Sony with Luke, Chris/Kane so other priorities in front of her?

Most of my hope for this to get to #1 has evaporated seeing the countdown hosting schedule, because it seems to indicate they'll be pushing this for a #1 before Cole Swindell, who has managed to pull way ahead of her. This one has plateaued and not really gained much for a few weeks now and I figured it was the label slowing it down so that she wouldn't run into competition up top, but now I think it's sadly a bit too far behind now. I hope that I am wrong and this one starts to pick up big conversions again soon and can make a run for the top in a few weeks, but I'm not too confident anymore with how far ahead Cole is now. It'll be a shame if this misses because it was looking like a surefire #1 hit for awhile with the great testing and the solid response from consumers in sales/streaming fronts. The Elle King duet at least seems to be another high impact hit and possible #1 down the line as well though, even if this one ultimately comes up short.

I think what slowed this song down and made it very unlikely to hit #1 was releasing "Drunk", I feel like once that song went to radio and went for adds "Settling Down" just completely stalled out. I think if Sony waited out releasing "Drunk" I think "Settling Down's" chances at #1 would be much more likely.

So disappointing, but it appears that country radio can’t handle two singles from one woman at the same time.

Welp this was what I was worried about ever since I heard they were releasing Drunk before Settling Down was finished. This song was almost a guaranteed #1 when it was her sole single, but now it's increases have pretty much fallen off. I'm a little annoyed tbh, because I love this song and it would have been great to see her have back to back #1s. Hope they can somehow get this to #1, but its not looking too good if she has to leap ahead of Cole Swindell.

The fact that a bland, old song from Cole Swindell might block this one's chance of hitting #1 is something. Wasn't that song almost done a few weeks ago?

Cole's song has had a bit of fire lit in it since hitting the Top 30 a few months ago. Now the problem was that it took 35 weeks before "Single Saturday Night" even hit the Top 30 back in early March. The closest Cole Swindell looked done was real early this year and late into 2020, as in like November to January when it was really struggling to stay afloat, but it hang in there.

Chart watching is really exhausting

^ Agreed. Cole's song shouldn't have even made the top 20, let alone made a run at #1 over a year after its release. It was a dud to country radio for the longest time and consumer interest wasn't all that high either. It's probably deserving of a #1 finish now (sadly) based on how its been doing the past few months, but it shouldn't have come this far in the first place imo.

Cole’s song should have never been a hit. I still think Miranda will hit #1 with this. It’s definitely 10 x better than Cole’s song!
