When exactly is this getting maxed out? This week. There's no chance of this getting to #1 on either chart but this should get a top 5 finish on MB.

She peaked at 5 already 2 weeks ago so If that’s all they want idk what the point is now. Seems like they coulda dropped it and put some more into Drunk.

Man if this week was the push week then "Settling Down" really went out on a whimper as she only managed to re-peak at #5 on Mediabase and given the fact that Luke Bryan well out gained "Settling Down" in audience and Luke Combs still being a slow faller with "Forever After All" I don't see "Settling Down" making it any higher than #7 this week on Billboard.
I will say, if this was the push week, then it's quite clear to me that radio was just flat out done with this song as even when an artist had multiple songs climbing the charts, whenever the song at the higher chart position maxed out they were able to gain quite a bit to the top spot, but not with this.
I hope this song does hang in there if it can as I personally do still like it, but at this point I don't think country radio is gonna let this get any higher position wise (Justin Moore and Luke Bryan are closing in fast)

We’ll see. I hope that wasn’t a week for it to get correlated additional airplay. If so though, outrageous that it was finally going to benefit a female artist and then it didn’t happen.

Sony initially said back in June her push week was the “last week of July.” So could be coming up now and maybe get to 3? No clue though 🤷🏻♀️

Yeah, I'm confused because this hardly felt like a push week at all to me? 🤔

I think it’s this week, there also wasn’t a max spins ad last week that I saw? #3 would be a great peak for this song if Sony can make it happen. Especially since a couple of my fave (& stronger) singles have gotten dropped like a hot potato between 7 - 11 😏

Based on today's update, "Settling Down" is definitely done.

RIP Settling Down. You deserved a better end than this. Sad to see these shenanigans over the past month or so make this miss out on it's #1 spot that it was going to get. The top 5 that it achieved should still be celebrated considering that prior to Bluebird she didn't have a song go that high since 2014.

What a weird ride. Im kinda happy we can finally close the chapter and focus on Drunk. She’s been closing her shows with it! And wildcard did exactly what she wanted it to: put her back on the radio.

Yeah, I'm confused because this hardly felt like a push week at all to me? 🤔 The original plan was to have a final, #1 push this past week...but the way the song performed over the last 3-5 weeks severely hindered its chances to get that last #1 push. Warner Music Nashville realized this and went for two weeks with "Single Saturday Night." The label did say to stations (repeatedly) that they wanted to be #1 the last week of July, as far back as mid-June, but that was clearly not going to happen the way conversions were going as they got into the month of July. With the promise of dropping promotion by the end of July, they couldn't change plans and pick another week to push it -- that rarely happens, and programmers wouldn't want that with pre-planned #1 push weeks down the road. It was definitely unfortunate for "Settling Down." This doesn't happen that often nowadays, but even "Almost Maybes" also had #1 aspirations once upon a time; even if that seemed farfetched to chart watchers.

It's a shame this didn't make it to #1 since it deserved it. Definitely one of her better ones. I love the sound of this album era, both this and "Bluebird." I feel like I haven't enjoyed most of her singles in the recent past, but looking back, I do enjoy "Vice," "Tin Man," and of course "Mama's Broken Heart." Besides those, I think I'd have to go back to 2010 for a time when I consistently liked her singles ("Dead Flowers," "Heart Like Mine," "The House That Built Me").

Yeah you could tell country radio was just done with this song as evident by it falling all the way from #5 to #16. Obviously this isn't the biggest fall even this year in country radio in regards to a song that hits the Top 10 before being let go of, but yeah I suspect country radio was done with this song for a while.

This always seemed like a weird choice to me. I think her label released it because it was sonically similar to “Bluebird.” But diminishing returns are a thing!

This always seemed like a weird choice to me. I think her label released it because it was sonically similar to “Bluebird.” But diminishing returns are a thing! She mentioned in an interview that her husband’s favorite song on the record was “Settling Down” and he kept wanting it to be released so I imagine that was a big part of it. I think it was probably the right choice but you are right it’s very sonically similar to “Bluebird.”

she definitely wanted tequila does. She said it in an interview before bluebird peaked and then said “but the label girls are here and they probably have another opinion.” I think the brendan story was just to make it more of a thing once the label picked it.

I know it didn’t go all the way to #1 but I feel like this was the correct follow up to Bluebird. I honestly don’t think Tequila would have been a radio hit. Settling Down was and it connected pretty well too.

Yeah, Tequila Does was a riskier move and it was smart for them to go with Settling Down to maintain the radio momentum Miranda gained from Bluebird.

When it's all said and done this was a hit for her and that's an accomplishment. We all sat here during The Weight of These Wings radio era...
A #14 peak, #1 peak, and #6 peak - "Drunk" is scaling the charts. Miranda is back.

I honestly like the remix of "Tequila Does" 100x more than the original. I didn't necessarily get the hype around the album version but the remix lets the song shine. Using that tempo throughout with countrier instrumentation versus the slow/fast/slow/fast style and I think it could have done damage at radio.

Even with no official country radio push for "Tequila Does," the song's already done really well and gotten a lot of visibility for something that's *just* an album cut, but without needing the label to invest resources into pushing it up the chart for 9+ months. I do think it would be a hit, even if it tested a bit polarizing and peaked in the teens instead of another #1 for her, but radio isn't the be all it used to be, and I can see them not wanting to push it officially on the chance it hinders "Drunk" taking off into the smash it's already looking destined to be. She's still riding on high right now and I love it.

The video for "Tequila Does": I love the look and feel of this and all I kept thinking is what an upgrade she made from Blake. Her husband…wow.

As is, I've never liked "Tequila Does" and it's always been my least favorite on the record. The slow-fast-slow-fast switch-ups just don't work for me. This Telemitry remix however is LIGHTYEARS better and improves the song astronomically. Love the video, and I love the inclusion of her brother and his husband. Her husband is so hot, lol. I'm jealous of her.

I love that she’s having fun with this and Drunk. It’s funny because Drunk was released right before the Marfa Tapes were announced and not to get ahead of anything but the Annies just had a tiktok acct made 👀🤨
