hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=322784&title=WEEKEND-UPDATE%253A-SWIFT-EYES-FOURTH-WEEK-AT-%25231Saturday, August 15, 2020 WEEKEND UPDATE: SWIFT EYES FOURTH WEEK AT #1Depending on how Taylor Swift’s physical CDs trend this week, folklore (Republic) could see a fourth week at #1. Or it could see a challenge from Juice WRLD's resurgent Legends Never Die (Grade A/Interscope) or Pop Smoke's very steady Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon (Victor Victor/Republic). Watch this space for more. Young Dolph’s Rich Slave (Paper Route/EMPIRE) breaks out as the week’s top debut at 25-30k. RCA Nashville/Zone 4’s Kane Brown will see his Mixtape, Vol. 1 EP open with 15-18k. On the track side, Drake f/Lil Durk’s "Laugh Now Cry Later" (OVO/Republic) appears headed for 35-40m on-demand audio streams.

hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=322812&title=A-TIGHT-TOP-20A TIGHT TOP 20As we suggested over the weekend, #1 on this Friday's HITS Top 50 is up for grabs. We're giving Pop Smoke a very slight edge today but it's far from a done deal. Taylor Swift's deluxe version of folklore, released today, adds "the lakes," the song previously available only on her physical CD. With three days left in the chart week, is that enough time to make a difference? And will "Smile," Juice WRLD's recent collaboration with The Weeknd contribute strong second week consumption numbers? Lots in play this week, and that doesn't even include a $400k Lamborghini being raffled off by Young Dolph. Watch this space for more. 1 Pop Smoke (Victor Victor/Republic) 85-90k total activity, 2-4k albums 2 Taylor Swift (Republic) 80-85k, 29-33k 3 Juice WRLD (Grade A/Interscope) 80-85k, 2-4k 4 * Young Dolph (Paper Route/EMPIRE) 60-65k, 29-33k 5 Hamilton (Uptown/Atlantic) 55-60k, 6-8k 6 Rod Wave (Alamo/Geffen/Interscope) 50-55k, <1k 7 Lil Baby (Quality Control/Motown/Capitol) 40-45k, <1k 8 DaBaby (SCMG/Interscope) 40-45k, <1k 9 Post Malone (Republic) 30-35k, 1-2k 10 Harry Styles (Columbia) 28-32k, 6-8k 11 Gunna (Young Stoner Life) 27-30k, <1k 12 Morgan Wallen (Big Loud) 21-24k, 1-3k 13 Polo G (Columbia) 21-24k, <1k 14 The Weeknd (XO/Republic) 21-24k, 1-3k 15 Lil Durk (Alamo/Geffen/Interscope) 21-24k, <1k 16 Lil Uzi Vert (Generation Now/Atlantic) 19-22k, <1k 17 Luke Bryan (Capitol Nashville) 19-22k, 10-12k 18 Luke Combs (River House/Columbia Nashville) 19-22k, 1-2k 19 Future (Freebandz/Epic) 19-22k, <1k 20 Billie Eilish (Darkroom/Interscope) 19-22k, 3-5k Debut *

Hope that deluxe drop gives Taylor the edge, which I think is doable.

^ I think so, too. The Lakes is also available as a standalone song in iTunes and currently #1 there.

^The movie becoming available to view on Disney + is the spark that made the music in the soundtrack become popular. Without that, it would still be in the Billboard 200, but much lower.

hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=322812&title=A-TIGHT-TOP-20-(UPDATE)&redirect=mobileWednesday, August 19, 2020 A TIGHT TOP 20 (UPDATE)UPDATE: In the thick of a three-way battle for #1, the top of the chart has been shuffled with Taylor Swift now leading. Here's the latest order as we do our best to keep up with all the action—our last brain cell is barely holding on through this heat wave. 1. Taylor Swift (Republic) 90-95k total activity, 30-35k albums* 2. Pop Smoke (Victor Victor/Republic) 85-90k, 2-4k* 3. Juice WRLD (Grade A/Interscope) 80-85k, 2-4k

The deluxe was enough to put Taylor on top for another week. Very clever to release it when they did.

Taylor's team did not come here to play games with the Pop and Juice albums.

This is definitely a better era for Taylor. Artistically, this is her best effort since “1989”. In almost 15 years, we went from an almost folkish-country pop to straight up pop to this indie-like alternative push. I don’t think the “Reputation” and “Lover” exceed the test of time in comparison to this album. Partly because it’s better and partly because it’s different.

That "explicit content" sticker still sends me. It's so anti Taylor, but she flipped it on us.

The Anuel album cracks top 50 despite selling around 200 copies between actual sales and track downloads.
Everybody say thank you streaming.

One thing that should be noted is that Folklore would be the third most streamed album in its fourth week, which is pretty good for a non-rap album.

How is a fifth week looking for Taylor? Tim McGraw is currently #1 on Amazon. Looks like her making him famous in 2006 with her debut single has finally backfired (I'm kidding!!!)
