Ed Sheeran caught my attention here. Does that mean he'll be announcing new music soon? ( and before Bruno, Rihanna, and Adele? π₯) That's a promising line-up. Thrilled to see Harry Styles and Dua Lipa in particular, even if it's probably going to be a performance from home.

at Kanye having 9 noms only because he released a gospel album. yeah and 4 of them are in the same category so unless there's a tie, he's not getting more than 6 awards. also I don't know anything about Gospel or Christian music but he seems to be the only one to get nominated in both genres with the same work, which I find curious.

Oh sweet Mariah is involved in two of those BB achievement award noms. One for her 26 year wait to get a #1 for AIWFCIU and losing her 25 year BB # 1 record. ππΎ
As for the rest this show doest sound too promising for me.

They definitely delayed the show too long, BET hosted their show a month after Billboard intended to host theirs and they were able to pull it off fine. And since then the VMA's, Emmy's, etc. were able to pull it off.
I like that they are still dedicating the nominees for 2019 so 2020 can get their own noms next year. It would be a shame and awkward for hits like Blinding Lights and Rockstar sharing noms with Old Town Road and Sucker from a year ago. Though yes, looking at all the noms it does feel very much like yesterdays news. Hopefully the performances will balance things out.

I just read this part of the press release
"Fan-voted categories this year include Billboard Chart Achievement Award, Top Social Artist and Top Collaboration. Voting opens on October 1, 2020 and will be available on TikTok, this yearβs primary voting platform, reflecting its increasing impact on music and role as a staging ground for chart-topping hits."

The BB awards are more pointless than the American music awards.

The BB awards are more pointless than the American music awards. I disagree, doesn't BB actually award whatever has performed best on their charts/Nielsen Data? AMAs, VMAs and PCAs feel like awards you win for showing up.

AMAs, VMAs and PCAs feel like awards you win for showing up. Yeah, so they're redundant because the artists already got rewarded through chart achievement. At least they have more value than the iHeart Radio Awards tho I guess.

This has been handled terribly, I guess that should be expected when Billboard is involved and last-minute changes have to be made.
I don't think the nominations list is the issue, when they obviously will likely plan a 2021 ceremony in the normal April timeframe too. The issue however is the fact it took them over 6 months to re-plan this, when all other award shows didn't take half that time to finalize a plan that worked around the current events.
Also this is literally in less than 3 weeks and we have basically no confirmed performers, there's no hype whatsoever, almost no announcements, and they really let the Decade-End Lists get entangled in this pushback madness.

We will all watch any performances that stand out on Youtube the next day and ignore the rest of the thing anyways. Imagine rewarding "Old Town Road" and "bad guy" in October 2020.
