Great music video! I love the way she started off in the elegant black-and-white old school look (channeling some serious Reba vibes with that ensemble!) for the tender opening moment, and then it kicked into gear like the song does and showed off her fiery personality.

Got around to the music video today and I have to say it is pretty good. It is a real shame that this song was pretty much DOA (got only 1 add in the last 4 weeks of Mediabase add weeks) and I will admit I am not shocked though this was pretty much done before it got started, the song itself doesn't exactly sound radio friendly even beyond female vocals given how it starts real slow than all of a sudden has the heel turn about 30 seconds in.
It's a damn shame as it did seem like country radio seemed very into Caylee Hammack with how many adds "Family Tree" got out of the gate not to mention getting OTV with that single but than "Family Tree" stalled around the Top 30 even with OTV, than the label was gonna release "Small Town Hypocrite" before backing out, released her debut album without much buzz, and then waited a while to release "Just Friends" instead of either "Small Town Hypocrite" or "Redhead" which had much more intrigue. Just such a mangled rollout for this artist that started off so promising but has just fallen apart this year.

I think she’s uber talented, but I feel like her sound is just a little too offbeat to have a big radio career. Hopefully she will be able to carve out a decent sized fanbase even if she doesn’t score big radio hits.

^ I agree with this fully. She's very spunky and talented no doubt, but I just can't ever see her breaking out with radio. If "Family Tree" could've even make the top 20 despite having OTV assistance, I have a hard time seeing anything else coming anywhere near that without it. Would love to be proven wrong though.

This was re-sent to country radio this morning, with a promotion for the music video. The label isn't done backing this single.

This song is done in the small market, just left Music Row Chart (14 Wks 39 Peak), so assuming it won't be promoted much more in the mainstream market as well. While this might not have been the best single choice, shame that this only made it to New and Active on Country Airplay Chart.
This could also mean that she would be releasing a new single soon, which now makes more sense that she just released Small Town Hypocrite Stapleton Version. Same with many of y'all, really hoping STH will be successful on the Mainstream Chart.

OMG shut up I had no idea this happened, but I am stoked if that means they're contemplating circling back to "Small Town Hypocrite" as a legitimate single. I'm not a Stapleton fan, but if his clout helps her get a hit with it, then I won't argue with that either. I don't really think Stapleton's background vocals complement her voice very well on the song myself, but it's a pretty big "get" for her considering what a force he is in the industry. Between that, the duet with Reba on her debut record ("Redhead"), and the random standalone collab with Alan Jackson ("Lord, I Hope This Day Is Good"), it really seems like there's a lot of people in the industry who are behind Caylee Hammack. She NEEDS to break through imo. Immense talent and brings something unique and special to the genre rn.
