13 hours post-release and Dynamite is yet to reach the top 100 of Apple Music US. Kpop doesn't tend to do well on Apple Music US. How You Like That peaked around 162, and Blackpink is arguably bigger on AM worldwide than BTS is.

For chart records, it would be interesting if Dynamite/Dynamite Instrumental both hit Top 40 (or Top 10). I'm sure Billboard assigns all physical points to the side that's charting highest on another metric - airplay or streaming. Obviously, the vocal here. This may have happened with OutKast - "Hey Ya"/"The Way You Move" - there was a physical but I think HY got all the chart points from the physical because HY had most airplay. I don't really remember or if it switched later. Both reached #1 so not important. There won't be two versions charting. The instrumental's sales go to the original, seeing as they're both the same song. All versions of a track that are sold count for the song. Only when there's a remix that is basically a new song with no similarities to the original altogether are versions separated. That's right. Not enough caffeine today! Thank you for clarifying. Knowing Billboard, I'm kinda expecting a 'BTS' new rule or that they find some sort of distinction to give them some kind of record. I know no one is laughing at this ridiculousness because...

If they're still releasing many physical versions of Dynamite, I guess the one thing going for it is that this would give it some longevity, as presumably not all copies will be shipped out this week, but spread out over ensuing weeks. And if it still manages to debut at #1 this week, that would be even better.

BTS taking that no.1 spot will ultimately be determined by their pure sales. I don’t think their streams will be no where Close to WAP.

Even with over 100k sales, I don't see WAP being overtaken by BTS, especially since WAP isn't free falling.

They released a visualizer for Mood Swings. They should really send the song to radio, it's up solely on streams and it could use the support. It's the type of rap love song radio usually eats up. I think that Mood Swings definitely needs to be the next single. The Woo is flying up the Rhythmic and Urban charts, so maybe once it peaks they'll release Mood Swings. I almost feel bad for Pop Smoke's team. For the Night, The Woo, and Mood Swings are all doing very well right now, and it's probably hard to figure out which one to push.

All Global records on every platform to fall.
BTS BLOWS UP
"Dynamite," the first-ever all-English single by Big Hit/Columbia's K-Pop sensations BTS, is on the verge of having the biggest first-day numbers ever at Spotify—and, indeed, the biggest first day overall. Ron Perry is hitting his refresh button constantly as the numbers climb.
The cut had amassed 9.8m streams on the Spot early in the day on 8/21 and looked a cinch to pass Ed Sheeran/Justin Bieber's "I Don't Care" (just south of 11m) and Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas" (12m+ on Christmas day). The cut also topped the iTunes singles chart.
At radio, meanwhile, "Dynamite" has flown to #8 on the Mediabase real-time chart (shout-out to Alissa Pollack, who loves the term "real time"). The Big Red promo squad is crushing it and you can download glamour pics of each team member; Peter Gray is still deciding which one will be his iPhone screensaver.
How big will this one get? We're thinking very. We'll be watching closely; stay tuned.

To be fair, This single launched with a Spotify pre-save campaign. They did not have an official one for Apple Music

Anyone else think Dynamite sounds like it would be a huge hit in like 2014? 😂

Knowing how dedicated these kpop fanbases are(the first week especially), when Spotify launches in South Korea (apparantly this year). This list will be exclusively kpop.

It will take a while. Kpop fanbases care about making their groups not just popular around the world, but Korea as well. Until Spotify is counted in terms of streaming in Korean charts and award shows, those fans won't care. Apple Music has a South Korean version and no one acknowledges it.

I wasn't too keen on BTS getting a #1 hit when I first saw it get announced because I assumed it would just be a monster in pure sales and then drop. But after seeing the streaming numbers, I am totally in favor of it going #1.
Really hoping the Blackpink x Selena song goes #1 next week too. Would be awesome to see so much diversity on the charts.

Considering we get a few artists still doing the 2015-2016 sound as well as the trap wave since 2017, and the 80s/90s sound was a thing earlier this year i wouldn’t be surprised if it did sound like a 2014 hit or not

To me, Dynamite sounds like the 90s doing a disco throwback.
