I wonder if this will manage to do some damage on radio
I mean I think it will probably reach the 20s only to free fall off due to a polarizing response

97 adds was more than I was expecting. Anyway, I finally heard my local station play this.

Selena's last two singles peaked at #13 and #16 with awful streams and sales, so I don't see why Pop wouldn't at least carry this to Top 10.

^ Because it's by a girl group who have never seen radio success in the states and it is extremely polarising, not to mention mediocre to bad lyrically as well. I just don't see it going higher then 20.

Wait? Why is the song so polarizing?? Pure and simple racism. Hum... I've liked every single release by them and I think "Ice Cream" is an absolute bomb. - My main issue are the lyrics. For their english debut, the lyrics are simply atrocious.
- Lack of a distinct chorus. The song drags and feels like a long verse. The Ice Cream hook is not strong.
- The rap parts on this are very bad... sorry Lisa. Definitely a major step down from "How You Like That".
- Jennie's vocals are very grating on this.
- The member that can pull this kind of sexy and cute concept the best is RosΓ© and she got the least amount of lines on the track...

Disliking a song is one thing....I just fail to see how it is βpolarizing?β Or how it is getting a polarizing response? It is commonplace for a song to be released and for some people to like it, and others dislike it.

If a lot of their fans are disappointed with the release, the reaction is negative...not polarizing. Polarizing would mean that a great deal of people LOVED the song, and a great deal LOATHED the song, with little middle ground. Polarizing does not mean/equal negative, but this thread seems to think so.

^ Yeah...a lot of people love it and a lot hate it.
Pop smashes like "Love Lies", "Girls Like You" & "Eastside" performed so well because they're relatively inoffensive. No outrageous production, calm vocal delivery, chill lyrics...you know. Compared to those songs, "Ice Cream" is audacious and obnoxious.
If this makes it to callouts, I expect it to receive a crappier version of the scores tracks like "Savage" & "Truth Hurts" got - high favorite, high negative.

Awesome update! The song was the top song of the hour twice for Most Requested Live and finished the night at #2 behind Dynamite (BTS was the special guest that night so it makes sense) can anyone tell me what the significance is of getting #1 or #2 on Most Requested Live, I know that like 100+ stations play the song.

The #1 request gets played on that hour while the #2 song doesn't. The update today was inflated a little. I will expect something like a +150 to +200 tomorrow.

Why do they even bother with the top 3 if only the 1st gets played? And what is the significance of the overall top 5 i.e.
