Dua's first part on the song is my fave part. She sounds the best she has ever sounded, and it's so good. The chorus is underwhelming but omg Dua dua dua!!!
Love rocky Miley so I'll be feeding off Plastic Hearts

Pop radio will not appreciate the brilliance of this bassline.

love the echoing "I can't control it" on the first verse. Such an earworm. I also love when melodies cascade down instead of up. It always sticks in your head more cuz most songs go up and not down.

I really like the song so far and like others enjoy Dua Lipa on it more that Miley's. The video... Umm is very try hard like other's have said and it's kind of obnoxious. Why can't Miley quit it with the tongue. Do kids find that cool???

I do like it, but this doesn't hold a candle to "Midnight Sky" or even most of Future Nostalgia.
Also Miley wipes the floor with Dua as far as energy goes. Miley is here for a banger anthem, Dua is here for a subdued vibe and I don't understand the disconnect there.

Lol, I'll probably never watch the video again because of the whole tongue action from Miley along with other aspects which creep me out.

They are both amazing in their own right. Chemistry is a little off for me on the song — somebody else mentioned it, just different vibes.
I’m a huge Miley fan- but there has been something empty in her last few singles for me. She is so good at emoting and I’m missing that here (and MS too). It’s easy for pop stars to make soulless pop, but Miley actually is talented enough to do more.

"Midnight Sky" has some of it at least but this definitely lacks that. still love all four of these songs tho. miley becoming one of my favorite pop girls. who would've thought?

I really like this. Can see it doing very well in Europe, but you never know about the U.S. with their corrupt corporate radio system.

Miley is such a great pop girl and “Prisoner” is a fun bop! Don’t get me wrong. Dancing to it rn. I just could see 10 other B-level pop girls having done this. Miley has given us some true moments that cut deep only like she can (“Slide Away”, “Wrecking Ball”, “Adore You”, even the remakes of “Zombie” and “Heart of Glass”). I don’t blame her for chasing a pop hit on radio, she deserves another. I just hope the album gives us a little more depth. ::steps off soap box::

Does this officially sample “Physical” by Olivia Newton John? And on a side note didn’t “Physical” by Dua Lipa sample that 80s classic too?

She can't let go of that damn song By the way neither of the songs sample "Physical". Dua's "Physical" references the song (and its most essential line) while the hook of "Prisoner" is loosely inspired by the hook of ONJ's "Physical".

So after listening to the song some more here is how I feel;
The opening chorus at the top and Dua’s 1st verse leads you to believe that this is going to be a synth/pop song with an 80s-ish inspired chorus. But then Miley sort of takes it in a very different direction, more so in the lane of an 80s rock anthem on the bridge and in her verses.
What Dua had planted in the beginning of the song isn’t established anywhere else in the song. Her opening lures a listener in, but then they are left looking for it after It’s gone. So to me the song feels like it’s struggling to be either a modern synth/pop song with some 80s influences (“Blinding Lights”) or trying to sound like a full blown 80s adult rock tune by Heart, Pat Benatar or Stevie Nicks. This song may have worked better as a solo. I like Dua’s parts more but I don’t know if that’s just because of the weird structure.. Still a good song overall though. I just wish it would’ve had a 2nd verse similar to the 1st verse.

I’ve listened a few times and I just can’t get into it. Too repetitive and I agree the video is try hard. I still love them both.

What in the world...and that collab between two ugly white men debuted Top 40 already... I’m also pretty sure they had an hourly deal while Miley/Dua didn’t. Either way, in the long run, I’m confident Prisoner will be the bigger hit out of the two. Well, hopefully.

Spincrease list shows 207 spins with reported play on 59 stations, just to add to this. I didn't post earlier 'cause the Spincrease list hadn't updated yet like it normally would have (everything normally updates at the same time, but not today).

This is good, but Midnight Sky is so much better. It’s a fun little jam though.
