God I miss her voice texture doing the Glitter days. She sounds fantastic.

Her voice during that period had such beautiful vulnerability to it, super excited to hear these vocals on something new. I'm also happy I'm not familiar with the Irene Cara song, for all my gay ass knows this is a Mariah ORIGINAL thank you very much.

I love it. Such a great choice of cover for her, and it's interesting having "new music" from Mariah with "old vocals". Even if they didn't tell us the years she recorded these songs, we could have probably figured it out being aware of what changes her voice went through and when. This sounds a lot clearer to me than the other music she recorded for Glitter, which makes me wonder if this is a rare track she didn't record there for this project.

This is gorgeous. Her tone is everything...I'm almost speechless...she sounds just wonderful. I have wanted a traditional piano ballad from her for a while, so this was a real treat for me as a fan.

Raw, simple and yet her vocals pierce you. She sang this like it meant something to her and you could tell.

Can this be nominated for a Grammy? Such a great vocal performance.

Gorgeous performance. Clear, powerful and extremely emotional.
One of her best covers!

Mariah the enigma she loves to make rnb and hip hop herself but the girl loves to cover rock and pop tracks.
Sonically not my kind of track but her voice sold me. I listened to the original and realized I dont like the song just Mariah's vocal take

"OHOMO" is just so good. Lyrically it definitely feels like something Mariah wrote, and she sings it like she wrote it. And the melody really showcases different parts of her voice. Parts I love: "We're always proving" (tone!) "Out here on my own" (the use of the lower register on "out here") "When I'm down" (tone!) "Baby you belong to me" (the soul) "I close my eyes so I can be with you" (ugh so good) "Help me need you" (the way she draws the vocal back for vulnerability) "owwwwwwwwn" (belt and vibrato)
By the way, the line about the morning sun appearing and "making light" of fears is a great play on words.

No wonder she won that talent competition, if she sang the song with the emotion she put on this cover.. I don't think anyone could NOT be sold into it and I'm so glad she found this and we can now hear it.
