The issue is also that the US is simply too big. A person in NY can put Blinding Lights on repeat for a month before someone in Nebraska even realizes it's out. There's so much space and disconnect within our large nation that it's entirely possible for a song to be this high for an entire year without burning out. Smaller countries like the UK don't have this problem as much because their population is both smaller and denser. If a song is getting big in one city, it's not gonna take as long to catch on in another city.

Lmao, 2018 was probably slower than this year. Now we have songs going #1 and leaving the chart in 4 weeks. You guys need to make up your mind, do you want songs to have longevity or do you want songs to be frontloaded and move on quickly?

I know it might seem strange but I really think the Machine Gun Kelly album will do the best numbers this Friday I don't think so. Carrie Underwood has an album this Friday aswell. She will be #1 most likely.
Also remember that kpop group 'Super M' that "stole" the #1 album from Summer Walker. They are releasing an album aswell. Can't wait for new tactics to be deployed on the battlefield.

There was longevity and it was dynamic at the same time.

Lmao, I remember hearing similar complaints that the charts were slow last year when Old Town Road was number one for 5 months. People complained there wasn't enough movement in the Top 10. Well, there have been dozens of Top 10 debuts and number one singles and people are still calling it a slow year. Like do you wanna go back to the 80s or early 90s when runs in the Top 10 were shorter than 10 weeks?
I mean I think this chart year's been pretty mediocre and stale but I think its more because of the quality of many of the songs + a lack of blockbuster singles like last year, not the actual chart runs.

I think MGK has more buzz than people are expecting, and that Carrie may underperform. Although Super M is probably number 1 and the sooner I come to that conclusion the better off I’ll be. Kind of sad because I really like both MGK’s and Carrie’s recent output.

I don't think i've ever heard of them outside of other people on Twitter clowning them for being overhyped.

Spotify 09/21/20 22( =) Jawsh 365 - Savage Love 507,226 ( +15,649) Probably meant to use green. As long as the people looking at this data aren't color blind, it works out.

Let's not understimate joji here, his last album debuted at #2 and it's very clear that this is going to do much better than BALLADS 1.

Also, can I say it's weird how famous MGK's gotten since the Eminem beef? Like I've seen him in movies more often and ever since the rock crossover, he's been more successful Eminem made him retired from rap, and making him do actual good stuff.

I wouldn't expect to do that well in its debut week, being just under 3 months of the actual holiday.

There was longevity and it was dynamic at the same time. I definitely don't wanna go back to having 8-10 #1 songs in one year, boring. 2019 had a pretty perfect number at 15. For the Nielsen age anyway. As a matter of fact, the 60's did it best: 19-21-19-20-23-25-27-18-15-16 #1's (if I'm not mistaken). Then the 70's and late 80's were an absurdity, and the 90's and 00's became too slow at the top. First half of the 80's was also fine.

Wow Renaboss, did you remember those numbers by heart? That was perfect! I am impressed.
Also remember that overall chart runs were much shorter in the 60's as well.

I want us to reach a point where there's 54 #1 songs in a year. Imagine the absolute CHAOS! love it Yeah, no. 35 #1's in both 1974 and 1975 was bad enough (and so many freakin' one week #1's).

I think however many songs are the most popular in a given week throughout the year should be #1.

As of right now, does "Before You Go" now tie Chingy & Tyrese's 2006 hit "Pullin' Me Back" and Lloyd's 2007 hit "You" for lowest-peaking #1 radio song? (all three at #9)
radio #1s that missed out on the top 5 are:
#6 - Lady Gaga - "Paparazzi" (2009) #6 - Maroon 5 ft. Kendrick Lamar - "Don't Wanna Know" (2017) #7 - Ne-Yo - "Closer" (2008) #7 - Sam Smith & Normani - "Dancing With a Stranger" (2019) #9 - Chingy & Tyrese - "Pullin' Me Back" (2006) #9 - Lloyd - "You" (2007) #9 - Lewis Capaldi - "Before You Go" (2020)
Does anyone have any more?

Travis ofcourse is doing CD & Casette Singles that will ship the week of. shop.travisscott.com/I guess judging by Bieber/Travis, the new trend is doing CD singles that can ship the week of. However - they won't be signed - there will be no Vinyl productions that can ship within a week it seems So songs should still sell notably less first week now honestly. Doing a variety of Vinyls, and offering signed CDs/Vinyls was what really inflated numbers a lot of times.

Yeah, he dropped the CD single, cassette, and digital download on Monday with the new promotional CD and additional t-shirts today.
I will admit I have bought all 4 versions as well as the two 2-shirts on their respective "drop" days, lol.

Hmm CD singles are interesting. So, tell me...when fans buy all versions of his CD singles + cassettes & maybe a few digitals for fun, how is this different from the fans who buy multiple copies of digitals?

I love how when you add a T-shirt to cart, you get a flash reminder in bright green to order a discounted CD for $1, another CD and a single

The country charts in the 80s were pretty ridiculous too. For the ENTIRE DECADE, only four songs spent three weeks at number one (three in 1980, one in 1987). Literally no other song the entire decade spent more than two weeks on top, and none managed as many as four weeks.

The #1 position is becoming a real tug of war between "WAP" and "Dynamite." LOL
