hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=323358&title=YOUR-WEEKEND-FORECASTFour titles could be in the running for #1 on next week’s HITS Top 50. New releases from Machine Gun Kelly, SuperM, and Joji plus carryover from Pop Smoke could all be within striking distance by next week. Here’s where this week’s key new releases stand after one day. Machine Gun Kelly (Bad Boy/Interscope) 80-90k total activity, 40-45k albums SuperM (SM/Capitol) 70-80k, 65-70k Joji (88Rising/12Tone) 65-75k, 24-27k Tory Lanez (One Umbrella/Create) 40-50k, 2-3k Deftones (Reprise) 30-40k, 27-35k Carrie Underwood (Capitol Nashville) 25-28k, 24-27k Lil Wayne Deluxe (Cash Money/Republic) 15-18k, 2-3k

Nice start for Carrie. Christmas album will be a decent seller throughout the rest of the year.

I think if SuperM is already projected 75k then they have it honestly. They were the ones who went to desperate levels with merch bundles and went from being projected to 60k to doing 168k.
Ofcourse they would release their next album right before new merch rules too.

That "Jojo" in the title had me for a minute there. :'(
We love Joji, too.

Ew @ Tory Lanez.
Great start for CU. Happy to see her at #1 on iTunes with a Christmas album in September. This record will have legs.

I was never a huge fan of rapper MGK, except for a song here and there that was enjoyable. Though, I'm really liking this pop/rock/alt style he's pivoted to, and really rooting for him even if it may be a bit of a long shot for him to keep that #1 slot projection.
Also quite surprised at Carrie's album sales. I feel that there hasn't been much promo, understandably so, so was expecting something in the 15-20k range. Almost at 30k seems to be that this will be a strong seller this year.

•MGK getting his due!!! •I never listened fully to Super M but I'm gonna give them a shot. •Who's Joji? •Tory still doing the same numbers as if he was on a major. •Carrie is definitely going to flow well into the Holidays. Maybe a special show coming?

So glad MGK may be getting his first #1, my ex's best friend is a guilty pleasure of mine.

•Carrie is definitely going to flow well into the Holidays. Maybe a special show coming? She's doing her holiday special with HBO Max, but I guess it's possible she may also do traditional TV performances to promote it (as Kacey did for her Amazon Christmas special).

Pretty good week for debuts. Five albums could be debuting in the top 10.

Reasonable start for Carrie; should be a steady streamer through Christmas.

I really hope Carrie can at least debut Top 10.
That said, I'm actually a bit more interested in how she does in October. I have my doubts about the strategy of releasing a Christmas album in September, as I've said in her thread. But I'll be watching this album closely the next few weeks to see how it does. Maybe I'm wrong and this is a good strategy.

I'd expect even lower sales this year, as people move on to streaming. So basically, a bigger Hot 100 impact for the classics, but lower placement on the BB200.

^I wouldn't expect any of the new albums to do that well outside of its debut week, unless they have a song or two that gets some streaming.

Classic Holiday albums do better on Billboard 200 every year due to streaming also. Mariah's Christmas album reached #4 last year, its highest peak since release in 1994. Michael Buble's Christmas album reached #2 last year, its highest peak since release in 2011. Vince Guaraldi, Elvis Presley, Bing Crosby, etc had Holiday albums reach new peaks in general decades after release last season.

^It will be interesting to see which holiday albums can set new peaks this season given last year's was a breakthrough one. I'm thinking a fair amount.

^But at least Underneath the Tree has managed to re-enter the Hot 100 for a week for two consecutive years and has become the most recent Christmas classic song. Unfortunately, Hallelujah didn't quite manage to do that for Pentatonix.
