MIRAGO WELCOME My name is Jug and let me welcome you to the "My last place won a RD" club. Im a two time member which makes me the official spokesperson Lol, we are resume building! I had a feeling this would happen because the 1983 results were similar i think. Some times I change my mind on songs over time (like I did favourably for Sledgehammer, Our Lips Are Sealed, even Holding Back the Years) but the inescapable Eileen hasn’t pushed forward for me. I’ll take the wistful sounding Cruel Summer and run though! I love that one, it captures the 80s in 3 minutes. 2020 was somewhat of a cruel summer too. Thanks partyblob, great collages yes.

wow what a top 2 🥰
honestly this probably would’ve been my top 2, both have featured in my personal rankdowns before and both are brilliant

My last top 10 fell, and that remaining top 10 leaves a lot to be desired. I know that Crowded House and Luka songs get a lot of hard -ons. I don't particularly care for neither nor do I want those songs to win. . I'll take "Come On Eileen" or "Head Over Heals" for the win . On a final note. Where the hell did "Maniac" come from. Ok as a man who usually lusts over video women, I am SHOOK the image of Jennifer Beals in tights or being drenched over a chair doesn't get you, and I'M FULLY GAY Hell the guitar solo, the idea that the song was originally for a serial killer but adjusted for this movie....there are so many elements #10. Michael Simbello - ManiacLOL!. The music video is the reason I gave it a higher ranking...and thanks for mentioning Joe Spinell's 80's slasher Maniac. You know me all too well. The song is actually pretty good. It just seems like an od song to end up among the songs in this top 10. #9. Earth, Wind and Fire - Let's GrooveCool R&B Disco jam. One of the few still keeping the genre alive on the 1980's chart. #8. Chaka Khan - I Feel For YouI like that it is NRGetic, but I don't remember anything ever lese form Chaka after or even before this song. I didn't care for the voice they used in sampling her name in the intro either. #7. David Bowie - Let's DanceThis song didn't need my help to end up high. It always does. It's no "Modern Love", but I do think it's one of David Bowie's most deserving hits. #6. Tears For Fears - Head Over HealsVery deserving song, and for me their most epic sounding one. Especially if you listen to the whole extended version. I love that it ended up high on all the Rds it's been featured on. #5. Peter Gabriel - SledgehammerA decent song for Peter, but definitely one of his more upbeat. "Shock The Monkey" is the winner for me. #4. Suzanne Vega - LukaI probably wouldn't put this in the bottom 10 among song of it's own year, but its still too simple sounding for my 80's flavor of music. #3. Bananarama - Cruel SummerI'm way more into their SAW Hi-NRG phase. I think their vocals as a trio was used better in dance NRGetic music. I still like this song, but not as much as PULSE in general. #2. Crowded House - Don't Dream It's OverNot a big fan of this song nor john Crowded House's vocal tones. It's passable I guess, but It's also bit on the simple side too. #1. Dexy's Midnight Runners - Come On EileenNice to see one of my top 15 take the win. In retrospect this one is a tad on the simple side too, but goes full circle with the violins and I happen to love violins. It's also quite fast when the banjos take center stage. The song is actually jam packed with instruments, and I like my music jam packed with everything but the kitchen sink. Kevin also had some unique vocal tones that really made that chorus work. samo🦕Great winner. Love the art works and music videos. I had more fun ranking the songs than watching the results. I'll probably just follow results if 21-30's rd shows up. I don't like watching songs that ended up really high show up lower on other rds. Not too cool.

I didn't expect "Ghostbusters" to do well at all, but bottom FIVE? Really?
