24goldn is the 2nd person born in the 2000s to hit number one! Jawsh 685 (who was born in 2003) was number one last week, so 24kGoldn would be the third artist born in the 2000s with a number one.

Even though it's weak in points, Mood is definitely worth of #1 spot (at least compared to some we've had....*cough* Travis Scott and 6ix9ine *cough*)

YES MOOD HIT NUMBER ONE!!!! Add it to this year's short list of number one hits that organically went to the top without any bs sales discounts or remixes (The Box, Blinding Lights, and ROCKSTAR).

This is a very well-deserved #1. It's actually popular in many countries unlike Franchise.

Did Billboard alter the formula this week? I wasn’t expecting “Dynamite” to fall that far and for ‘BL’ to rebound. Also, how did Harry Styles swim back into the T10? I’m ecstatic that “WAP” is stable at #2, and congrats to “Mood”. 👏🏿🔥👏🏿 The BTS Army wasn't able to sustain their single buying frenzy, in spite of the song being performed in the BBMAs. Watermelon Sugar returned to the top 10 due to its relative stability across the board, the 21 Savage & Metro Boomin songs exiting the top 10. The fact that Lemonade still wasn't able to surpass it this week reflects this.

That was an unexpected chart reveal, but I'm pleased with the results.
It's a shame "Dreams" didn't manage to crack the top 10 this week, but I'm really happy to see "Mood" getting the top spot. Here's to more rock-trap hybrids!🍾

The top 3 songs on the Hot 100 sold a combined ~15k digital sales this week. Mood (7k) has the lowest number of digital sales for a Hot 100 #1 since at least mid-2006.
^ I love this stat.
Mood is also the record-breaking 9th rap song (as counted by Billboard) to reach #1 this year. 2018 had eight rap number ones.

Random fun stat: "Mood" is the 8th one-word title to reach number one in 2020 (following Savage, ROCKSTAR, TROLLZ, Cardigan, WAP, Dynamite, and FRANCHISE). That breaks the all-time record, previously set when 7 one-word titles topped the Hot 100 way back in 1986 (Kyrie, Sara, Kiss, Sledgehammer, Venus, Amanda, and Human). 2019 had 6 (Sunflower, Shallow, Sucker, Señorita, Circles, and Heartless).

I see artists who had 'multiple #1 hits' this year that don't even have 5 weeks top 10.

Who cares if it’s “a weak/the weakest” number one? I’m seeing the BTS stans. revelling in this on Twitter as if it’s somehow relevant and changes the fact that their first number one song wasn’t mass-manipulated. (The absolute f-cking nerve! 💀). A number one is number one, and “Mood” is a GLOBAL smash-hit.

"Mood" does have very low points but you have to consider
1. Radio numbers are now practically at their lowest since they started being electronically tracked by Nielsen. The #1 on OVERALL radio is barely doing 70 million, whereas in the early 2010s I remember the #1 song at Top 40 format alone would break 100 million.
2. Streaming numbers are now at their lowest in years, there's a drought currently, but mainly because so many video streams are now not counted.
3. Sales numbers are obviously treading towards the lowest in history.
Comparing points for songs now compared to 2018, 2016, 2014, etc isn't really logical anymore because the climate for radio/streams/sales have actually dipped huge now this year. In general, songs are just going to get way less points from each component compared to previous years now forward for the time being.
Mood is very stable, a hit in every component, and... it's actually a very well known song. Due to Billboard's delusion with their formula, that's now become uncommon for #1 hits in 2020, so Mood definitely deserves the #1.

It's worth noting that Roddy Ricch's 50 weeks in the Hot 100 top 10 this year come from only 2 songs: The Box: 25 weeks Rockstar: 25 weeks
He's the most efficient hitmaker of the year, followed by DaBaby whose 38 weeks in the top 10 this year comes from only 3 songs and the Weeknd whose 37 weeks in the top 10 this year come from 3 songs as well.
