To recap the last 2 pages: A number one is a number one..... unless it doesn't have longevity in the top 10. Then we can drag it all day long. Got it. Hot 100 is a weekly chart. I'm sure that really soon we'll have an album track debuting at #1 and leaving the Top 10 in its second week. The fact is that it was still the most popular song in its first week. That's curiosity/hype sales and streams, but that's a legit way of popularity. In 2018, the two biggest albums of the streaming era (in terms of first week streams) were released and both albums had a song debuting at #2 by less than 1,000 points (Drake's Nonstop / Lil Wayne's Mona Lisa) and then leaving the top 10 in week 2. We can talk about the way (and the sales tactics) that songs like Stuck With U, Trollz and Franchise hit #1 (I don't think any of these three songs deserved #1 btw), but having only one week in the top 10 and being #1 in that week is legit.

Here are the legit #1's of 2020: Circles The Box Blinding Lights Rockstar WAP Mood I would consider Circles more of a 2019 #1. I would say Toosie Slide was also legit since it didn't rely heavily on sales. There could also be a case made for Savage and Say So.

Here are the legit #1's of 2020: Circles The Box Blinding Lights Rockstar WAP Mood I would add "Savage" to that list, at least. Remember, the Beyoncé remix didn't immediately get it to number one: the "Say So" remix with Nicki blocked it the first week then "Stuck With U' went to number one. Yes the remix helped (it was already top 5 without it) but it felt pretty organic when it ultimately topped the chart a few weeks later.

Even your average, non-blockbuster, number one song from the late ‘80’s to the early ‘90’s were spending 3-6 weeks in the top ten. ☠️ I updated my post with previous record holders. The shortest top ten runs for a number one single in the late 80s/early 90s were "Dirty Diana" by Michael Jackson and "Black Cat" by Janet, both of which spent a short but respectable for the time 5 weeks each. This was fantastic for “Dirty Diana” considering it was the fifth single (and fifth number one hit) from a 9-month old album at that point. The same applies to “Black Cat”; J.J was on her 6th single, 6th number one single and 6th T10 hit from the same album. S U R R E A L. 🔥🔥🔥

Here are the legit #1's of 2020: Circles The Box Blinding Lights Rockstar WAP Mood Toosie Slide, The Scotts, Savage, Rain On Me... Toosie and Savage should've been #1 for more than just 1 week. Let's not forget that Blinding Lights had 100M+ airplay when radio was at its weakest month in decades because Nielsen took two months to recalibrate radio's estimated audience impressions.

Acts with the most weeks in the Hot 100 top 10 in 2020 (so far):Lil Uzi Vert - 3 weeks It was 3 songs, but shouldn't this be 1 week? I consider the week(s) each song spends in the top 10 separately so 3 songs each spending a week in the top 10 = 3 weeks.

It's still the only album to produce number one singles in three different calendar years (89/90/91) and I believe it's the only album to produce 8 top 5 radio hits. It would have been 8 on the Hot 100 too if they had released "State Of The World" as a commercial single.

Over on the Global 200 Fleetwood Mac enters the top 10
If it goes top 10 here, it will be the first top 10 since Bohemian Rhapsody in 1992 to Re-enter the top 10 as a result of being newly revived hit.

I'm glad you said it. I thought it would piss people off to say that bolded sentence. I've been around a long time and the Hot 100 is nothing like it used to be. I prefer seeing songs climb the chart, peak, and then descend. Or to at least have top 10/#1 songs be recognizable and memorable. But that's no longer the world we live in. It's still... a weekly chart. It doesn't require longevity, and never has... but that's what we're used to. I feel like the weekly part of it is becoming that much more obvious, and it's hard for many to swallow. Looking behind all of this Hot 100 #1 stuff is interesting, because those days of the ascent/peak/descent were manipulated in their own way. Radio and record stores controlled the narrative, with the labels being the likely puppeteer. It's always been a game, but now it's 10x the game it's ever been with social media and stanbases, and all the ways there are to game the chart, without end. The Hot 100 almost seems like it still exists as it once did in spite of itself. Maybe it's a dead concept and the idea of melding all the increasingly various aspects of it is a lost cause. It's clear that everyone is trying to make it work, but once it makes one person happy, it's suddenly manipulated by someone else, and then we go round and round again. The point of my post was really to shine a light on how individual bias plays a role in how we feel about what's going on, on a case by case basis, and it's gotten so messy that it's hard not to contradict ourselves.

Acts with the most weeks in the Hot 100 top 10 in 2020 (so far):Roddy Ricch - 50 weeks Drake - 41 weeks DaBaby - 38 weeks The Weeknd - 37 weeks Megan Thee Stallion - 24 weeks Post Malone - 23 weeks Justin Bieber - 23 weeks Harry Styles - 21 weeks Dua Lipa - 20 weeks Quavo - 19 weeks Future - 17 weeks Doja Cat - 16 weeks Beyoncè - 14 weeks Saint Jhn - 13 weeks Jack Harlow - 13 weeks Jawsh 685 - 12 weeks Jason Derulo - 12 weeks Tory Lanez - 12 weeks Lil Wayne - 12 weeks Cardi B - 10 weeks BTS - 10 weeks Lil Durk - 9 weeks Juice WRLD - 8 weeks 24kGoldn - 7 weeks ianndior - 7 weeks Ariana Grande - 5 weeks Gabby Barrett - 5 weeks Lady Gaga - 5 weeks Charlie Puth - 4 weeks Lil Mosey - 4 weeks Lil Baby - 4 weeks Taylor Swift - 4 weeks Lewis Capaldi - 4 weeks Young Thug - 4 weeks Nicki Minaj - 3 weeks Lil Uzi Vert - 3 weeks Marshmello - 3 weeks Chris Brown - 3 weeks DJ Khaled - 3 weeks Travis Scott - 3 weeks 6ix9ine - 2 weeks Eminem - 1 week Playboi Carti - 1 week Kid Cudi - 1 week Billie Eilish - 1 week Morgan Wallen - 1 week 42 Dugg - 1 week Halsey - 1 week Polo G - 1 week The Kid Laroi - 1 week M.I.A. - 1 week Internet Money - 1 week Don Toliver - 1 week Nav - 1 week Gunna - 1 week This is definitely interesting because it shows to an extent who actually had hits that stuck. I see artists who had 'multiple #1 hits' this year that don't even have 5 weeks top 10. Nicki Minaj - 3 weeks I don't know who you're talking about.

Nothing wrong was just confused which one aw supposed to follow : billboard or ?? There's no "or ??" in this situation — Billboard is the one who says that when "Savage Love" was #1 last week, it was the BTS remix, but when it was #6 this week, it was the version without BTS. What failstoner is confused about (and so am I) is what Billboard's actual policy is about changing the credit from week-to-week. "Perfect" was "ft. Beyoncé" for the rest of its chart run regardless of points split, so why isn't "Savage Love" still "ft. BTS?"

Nope just for 5 weeks, even then that was an error on their part, should have only been for a week or two

24goldn is the 3rd person born in the 2000s to hit number one! I already mentioned in last week chart thread, but Im really happy about how Gen Z artists are coming !!, bring new young blood on the charts. Go away millenials your time is over and already old news ( sorry) ( just kidding) Congratz 24kGoldn and Ian Diorr, amazing song. I was really worry that couldnt get to number one !! GOOD NEWS !

Quick question, is 24kGoldn is the second artist to be born in the 21st century to have a No. 1 hit. (idk if I'm missing someone else, but the last that I know is Billie Eilish).
