Fleetwood Mac's 'Dreams' Is the Oldest Non-Holiday Title to Reach Top 10 on Streaming Songs Chart By Kevin Rutherford 10/21/2020Click to copy www.billboard.com/articles/business/chart-beat/9470135/fleetwood-mac-dreams-oldest-song-streaming-songs-chart-top-10/Released in 1977, the song surpasses the previous oldest highest-charting non-holiday track -- Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean” -- as it jumps 18-6. Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams” becomes the oldest non-holiday title to reach the top 10 on Billboard’s Streaming Songs chart, vaulting 18-6 on the ranking dated Oct. 24. “Dreams,” which has seen consumption gains over the last few weeks due to multiple viral clips containing the song, earns 16.1 million U.S. streams in the tracking week ending Oct. 15, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data. That’s a 20% boost over the previous tracking week. By rising into Streaming Songs’ top 10, the song, released in 1977, is the oldest title (since the chart's launch in 2013) to reach the ranking’s highest region that isn’t a holiday standard. It breaks a record previously held by Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean,” which peaked at No. 2 in June 2014 after a viral video of a teenager dancing to the song drove a boost in streams and allowed the song to re-enter the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 14. Concurrently, “Dreams” crowns the Rock Digital Song Sales and Rock Streaming Songs charts for a third week, garnering 25,000 digital downloads, a gain of 15% (and enough to rise 3-2 on the all-format Digital Song Sales). On the Hot 100, “Dreams” zooms 21-12, the song’s highest ranking since it was No. 6 in early July 1977. The track hit No. 1 earlier that year. The band's Stevie Nicks, who solely penned "Dreams" and sings its lead vocal, also crowns the Hot 100 Songwriters list. Fleetwood Mac’s catalog as a whole continues to see gains as well, with Rumours, on which “Dreams” appears, jumping 13-7 on the Billboard 200 and its Greatest Hits package rising 61-45. On Hot Rock & Alternative Songs, where “Dreams” spends a second week at No. 2, the band also tallies entries with “The Chain” (11-9), “Landslide” (17-14), “Go Your Own Way” (25-19) and “Gypsy” (debuts at No. 21). Nicks herself also reaches Hot Rock & Alternative Songs separately; her new release “Show Them the Way” bows at No. 40 while also starting at No. 4 on Rock Digital Song Sales with 6,000 downloads.

It has been #1 already so it's not really "missing" top 10

^Specially, considering that it wouldn't be a song returning to the top 10 due to an artist's death or the holiday season. The Twist is the easiest one that comes to mind. -

Jawsh 685 has already been forgotten about twice in the conversation surround artists born this century something tells me he won’t be well remembered several years from now Try a week I mean, he’s a producer, so I wouldn’t expect him to be a well known name at all, very rarely does a producer get wide spread recognition from the public, and especially after having only 2 songs out. Mustard had to dominate an entire year of music to make a name for himself, but even after that he can’t get consistent traction on the hot 100 when his name is attached. The only real examples I can think of are Calvin Harris and The Chainsmokers, who got popular in the EDM genre and used their own vocals. 3 producers who charted this year (Jetsonmade, Internet Money, and Mustard) had to rely on other artists for those charting hits despite their notoriety. while the out her 4 ( Imanbek, Regard, A7S and Jawsh 685) had to rely on viral hits. Even if these producers don’t get recognized by the public, they will still likely be successful behind the scenes because of these hits.

So, Billboard actually removed BTS from "Savage Love" credits after the one-week credit. Wonder why it didn't do so for, say, Doja Cat's "Say So." Even after stating Nicki Minaj was removed from the credit, the charts/archive kept her on. Not sure if the original "Savage" ever overtook the Beyonce version after those first weeks.

That is a manual thing from what I can tell - something that is not programmed automatically

^Interesting. They added the Nicki's Say So credit after it had been removed. Also, if I'm not mistaken Imanbek's credit was removed from Roses once it reached the Hot 100 and has remained as such since.

Also, if I'm not mistaken Imanbek's credit was removed from Roses once it reached the Hot 100 and has remained as such since. I've heard about that, but it's so odd, given that the remix is the version that was doing well on streaming and got played on radio. It would be weird if the Year End lists "Roses" as the original SAINt JHN version instead.

^Yeah. The only place I've song the Imanbek remix version remain is Hot Electronic/Dance Songs. Similarly, Say So's original version was the one charting in Radio Songs.
