It wouldn't necessarily have been my choice ("Build Me A Daddy" and the title track would have made better singles, imo), but this should easily be another hit for Luke.

Out of the 10 songs on the album, 6 are fairly country-based, even more-so than anything on his last 3 albums. The other 4 songs are, to nobody’s surprise, the ones that were chosen for radio.

Predictable choice as all signs indicated this was next. I do like the laid back more melancholy feel of this one and the chorus is pleasant. I would like to see “For A Boat” or “Little Less Broken” as a single next.

Leave it to Luke Bryan to continually pick the worst songs from his albums to be singles.

^ And it sucks too because he’s such a big name that he could get away with releasing the less radio friendly but higher quality songs as singles. I struggle to understand why he continually chooses to play it safe.

What even is this awful ill-fitting production? It sounds like only a half-step away from being a straight up dance club song, and that beat is absolutely ridiculous paired with Luke Bryan's voice. This sounds like it belongs in a playlist with "The Middle," which Maren Morris & company never tried to pass off as a country song. It's amazing just how many mediocre singles this guy can throw at us. I wasn't a big fan of "Build Me a Daddy" either, but it would've at least been an interesting change of pace for him, but I wager they might've been too afraid to try it given the sad state of the country rn with the pandemic still ongoing. Still, this surely couldn't have been his best choice from a quality standpoint.

I dont know why people don’t like this choice. (if you don't like Luke, make sense, as this sounds like "the Luke Bryan song") Obviously the best choice from the album. Granted, it is safe, radio friendly choice, and the theme and the beat is generic, but what do you expect? We don't expect him to release some songs with clever lyrics. As long as melody sounds good in the case of Luke's music, that's good enough. 4 great single choices from the album so far.

This is still better than "Knockin' Boots". I wish they would've skipped that and went with "What She Wants Tonight" as the lead single, then Margarita, this and Build Me A Daddy as the final single.

This is still better than "Knockin' Boots". I wish they would've skipped that and went with "What She Wants Tonight" as the lead single, then Margarita, this and Build Me A Daddy as the final single. I guess from a personal standpoint I get it, but "Knockin Boots" was a very successful single and besides "One Margarita" was his most successful song on the Hot 100 since "Strip It Down" in 2015, so I think the label was right to release it as the lead single. Honestly "What She Wants Tonight" is the weak link of all the singles released so far as that was the definition of a safe forgetful forgotten of hit.

"Knockin' Boots" got old quick but it still remains easily the best single from this project thus far. The other 3 are flaming dogshit, but at least "Boots" tried to sound like country music. "Wants Tonight" has some of his most hilariously awful vocals on record to date.

Welp, looks like I'm in the minority. I do like this song, in fact it grew on me as I kept listening. Still haven't heard the rest of the album so I'm indifferent for now on this choice of a single but I do wish "Build Me A Daddy" had been released because that would've been a lovely change of pace and is easily the best of the 5 songs I've heard thus far. Hoping the era closes with that one and I have no doubt "Down to One" will be yet another #1 for him.

Luke usually throws us a bone and releases one more thoughtful, country sounding song per album ("Fast", "Roller Coaster", "Most People Are Good", "I Drive Your Truck"). I guess we're going to have to hope for a 5th single this time...cuz this sure ain't it. Just more disposable, completely forgettable radio fodder that doesn't even sound that good on radio. The chorus is kind of catchy I guess, but the production is just laughably bad, and so ill-fitting for Luke's voice. I'm not a huge fan of "Build Me A Daddy" (melody is pretty weak), but at least it's a song of substance and it seemed like a logical single.
I doubt they would consider it, but I'd love for "Little Less Broken" to be a single. It sounds like it belongs on a Midland album instead of a Luke album, but I really love the melody.

It amazes me how lame his music has gotten. Just when you think it can't suck anymore, he continues to out due himself. This awful stuff is a far cry from Tailgates & Tanlines and Crash My Party which he actually had one or two good singles from.

Somehow the lyrics at chorus were changed from " down to that last bud light" to " down to that last cold one" in this video. I noticed only because I repeatedly play this song (yeah love this), but I wonder why.

I know this isn't necessarily good, but this is miles better than 'What She Wants Tonight'. I don't change this one.

Deluxe Version of Born Here Live Here Die Here is coming up on Apr. 9, and this song is one of the six new songs. It's an okay song to me.

I dont like the lyrics, any of them. The hook just doesn't make sense to me and never lands on anything that would move me emotionally.
However, the organ with that beat and the plucky electric guitar make this track absolute ear candy.
Congrats to the musicians, mixer and producers for making an ear worm out of a small melody and lyrical mediocrity.

does anyone expect nothing than mediocrity from Luke Bryan? On his album tracks? Yes. On radio singles? Nope.

does anyone expect nothing than mediocrity from Luke Bryan? Basically. For me a lot of his stuff falls into the “I can’t believe someone even wrote this, much less spent money recording it” area, so anything that even reaches mediocrity is a win IMO. Which sucks because he’s a hell of a nice guy, but his music is just...a no from me.

When I’ve liked all 4 of Luke’s singles from this era...
