To this day the Jo Dee Messina album series remains one of my favorite things we have ever done on Pulse. I discovered SOOOOO many gems that have now become some of my favorite songs of all time "Noel" is one of them. Jo Dee's isn't necessarily known as a belter per say, but her voice still absolutely slays me on power ballads like this! She has one of the most underrated voices of all time. It is a damn shame that Curb fucked up her career the way that they did. Anyway, I have been rocking out to this song non-stop for the past month. The way it all builds from a soft, quiet song up into that soaring C#5 in the third chorus literally IS the meaning of Christmas to me 😂

The SHADE of putting the video for "Noel" on the winning song 😂 Don't do that to me!!!!

"Hard Candy Christmas" was the only correct choice for the win so I'm thrilled to see it come out on top again for the second time (although the previous one was hosted by someone outside of the country forum so I kinda consider this its first official win in-house lol). I can't believe our first Christmas rankdown of the season is all wrapped up! Although it was short this was a lot of fun to do...thanks castleoblivion26!

"A Baby Changes Everything" is Faith's second-best Christmas song, without a doubt. It would have been the best, except for the existence of "Where Are You Christmas", which is better than many people's best NON-Christmas songs, lol.
Her vocal here is soooooo beautiful. The song hits all the right notes, has all the right ebbs and flows, etc. to just feel like a really satisfying and complete listen.
"Hard Candy Christmas" was the obvious winner from the moment I saw the playlist... As disappointed as I was to see there be an obvious winner on the playlist, that couldn't stop me from putting her at #3. She absolutely deserves this win! Dolly's new Christmas album is my favorite holiday release of 2020 so far, but maybe I should check out her earlier stuff too!

The SHADE of putting the video for "Noel" on the winning song 😂 Don't do that to me!!!! had to give you a little false hope lmao Due to this rankdown going forward any song that has made it to the Top 2 of any previous Rankdown will be ineligible to be included in any future Shuffle Rankdown

tonight I will be posting the next Shuffle Rankdown. Graphics and Spotify playlist are all done just need to get the youtube links done. I will reveal that "The Heart Won't Lie" would have made it on if it hadn't won a previous rankdown but since it did it is ineligible. I think we have an interesting list of songs and I'm curious to see how it will all play out! Stay tuned to find out!

The correct top 2 and two perfect rankings for me! Faith's is honestly probably my favorite go-to Xmas song that isn't one of Sara Evans', but Dolly's is an iconic timeless classic so I had to make it my #1 (plus I knew it was gonna win anyway). I also think the reveals for this went pretty well overall, and I honestly liked all of these songs pretty well with the exception of Alan Jackson's which I would probably not revisit.

What song will be #1? No clue! Considering how well liked Jo Dee is I'll guess "Let It Go".
What song will be #10? Hmm...maybe Sammy's "Third Rate Romance"?
What songs will be in the Top 3? I'll give it to the ladies so going with "Let It Go", "Commitment", and "I Don't Want to Feel Like That"
What songs will be in the bottom 3? "Third Rate Romance", "Lovebug", and "Love Is the Right Place"
Any other thoughts/comments on this months shuffle? For the most part, Pulse has already covered quite a few of these artists in previous rankdowns so it was great getting to hear from a few others that are just as deserving of their own including Trace Adkins and Clint Black. Putting Trace's politics aside, his output from the mid-late 90s is quite strong and he even has quite a few gems from the decade thereafter. Same goes for Clint Black who I think is quite underrated on Pulse if only because I'm not sure there's many on here who have dived into his discography (this is a good time to mention that he's someone I plan on doing a rankdown for at some point in the near future!). Anyways, excited to see how this all plays out because I really have no earthly idea lol.

I agree 100% about both Trace and Clint. I used to not be a fan of Clint's when I was younger but as I have gotten older I have grown to really appreciate and enjoy his music more and more! Look forward to when you do a rankdown for him as I think that will definitely be a fun one to do!
As for Trace, I have a big problem with his politics but still find that I LOVE his early music ("There's A Girl In Texas", "Don't Lie", "More", "I Left Something Turned On At Home", "Songs About Me", etc). He is another I'd be interested to see a rankdown done because of the quality of his early stuff. He, like Toby Keith, got sucked into the habit of doing novelty songs ad-nausea after the success of "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk", but he has some incredible gems and shouldn't be overlooked by anyone!

What song will be #1? Probably "Commitment". As popular as Jo Dee/Patty are on Pulse, LeAnn's the lady here that will have the help of single bias. They all deserve though! What song will be #10? "Third Rate Romance". What songs will be in the Top 3? "Commitment", "Let It Go", and I will predict "Big Love" sneaks in as well. It's one of Tracy's best songs! What songs will be in the bottom 3? "Third Rate Romance", "Love Is The Right Place", and.... I'm honestly not sure! None of the others deserve it! Maybe Kenny? We all know how he's received around here, although lots of his early career stuff is underrated and not objectionable. Any other thoughts/comments on this months shuffle? Again, a very solid list! I really enjoyed discovering this Clint song in particular! And "I Don't Want To Feel Like That" is now one of my favorite Patty Loveless album tracks. Although I'm rooting for Jo Dee, as "Let It Go" has been one of my favorite rankdown discoveries since we ranked her first album a couple years ago

I randomly got the itch to host a Trace Adkins singles rd last fall, but then he sang the national anthem at the RNC just a couple days after I got the itch, and I decided there was no way in hell Pulse would want to rank him after that But I'd definitely be open to the idea again, especially as we get deeper into 2021 and the door closes for good on this current toxic political season! Tracy Lawrence is first on my list though Once the craziness of 2020 Country, BotB, and RotB is past me, he's going to be the next "big" rankdown I do in addition to resuming George's/Terri's/Reba's album series :)

#10 ~ "When I Close My Eyes" ~ Kenny Chesney Points: 69 Average: 6.90 Standard Dev: 2.02
tim ~ 4 austin ~ 5 someguy ~ 5 bboat11 ~ 6 taylor ~ 6 gardyfan ~ 7 George Strait Junkie ~ 7 castleoblivion26 ~ 9 Kanenrá:ke ~ 10 .indulgecountry ~ 10
My Take: Kenny Chesney was an early favorite of mine when I first started getting into Country. This song and "Me and You" were instant favorites and then he released "She's Got It All". I still remember when that song came out as it was right as I was getting into Country. I'm not surprised to see this song in last place but I do love this one and wish Kenny still released music that was as strong as what he released in the '90s

#9 ~ "Love Is The Right Place" ~ Bryan White Points: 65 Average: 6.50 Standard Dev: 2.66
austin ~ 2 Kanenrá:ke ~ 4 someguy ~ 4 castleoblivion26 ~ 5 gardyfan ~ 5 .indulgecountry ~ 8 tim ~ 9 bboat11 ~ 9 taylor ~ 9 George Strait Junkie ~ 10
My Take: I was a big fan of Bryan White's Between Now and Forever album and while I never bought his 3rd album The Right Place I did enjoy most of the singles from that album. "Love Is The Right Place" is the best of them all and I definitely think it deserved better than bottom 2.
