I plan to present all the results tonight.
"If You Believe" is one of my favorite Christmas songs and I'm sad to see it out first. I definitely think it deserved better here.
I love Jamie O'Neal and "O Holy Night" is one of my favorite Christmas songs and I thought I would love her on this song but honestly it isn't as good as it should be and was an easy last place for me.
Up next at #8 someone is going to lose their #1!

I did not care for "If You Believe" at all. Alecia Elliot's voice wasn't much for me and the production was a sloppy mess. It was an easy last place among this list for me.
Jamie's OHN was just there for me--nothing too special but also not terrible.

I think this might be the wrong trajectory graph. It's like "O Holy Night'"s title was slapped onto the graph of our #6 song, lol

Poor Alecia!! "If You Believe" is not a bad song by any means. I was turned off in a big way by the production, like taylor said, but melodically I like it a fair amount. It's actually been randomly stuck in my head the last few days, despite me doing this rankdown like over a month ago and not revisiting that song since then. Lmao I honestly completely forgot "O Holy Night" was even in here 😂 I didn't have it pegged as a bottom 2 contender, but then I also obviously wasn't that wowed by it if I completely forgot it existed despite how much I've been loving Jamie O'Neal lately... Her rendition of this is adequate... I ranked it at #5 due to how amazing the song itself is, but as far as versions of this song go, hers felt kinda half baked for some reason. It certainly won't be enough for me to reach for it over the likes of Martina, Sara, Celine, etc. who pretty much have this song on lockdown as far as I'm concerned. Now, I think I'm gonna predict Collin Raye to leave next

Hey :(
I'm well aware Alan Jackson ain't Merle Haggard but this song is just too good to depend on who's singing it.

"If We Make It Through December" better do much better than the 80th percentile in Alan's full Christmas rankdown. That's all I have to say about that!!

Was that Johnny Cash doing the narration of "It Could Happen Again"? Haha it sounded like him, and I was wondering why he was there.

Since the first time I heard this song I've been a huge fan and wish Collin Raye would do better in these rankdowns!

Literally the worst version of "Mary Did You Know". I want to like this so badly, but it is just soooooooooo boring! This song is always best when the bridge is turned into a big climax. That's why Reba's '90s version is my go-to version Dolly's new one is epic too, because she managed to turn the outro into an unexpected climax. Kenny and Wynonna, on the other hand, literally do not have any climax. The song has no shape to it.

this version is definitely more subdued but I still love this version. I agree that Reba's '90s version is a lot better. Need to listen to Dolly's new one as well

This is a pretty expected and perfect top 5! I'm gonna predict it will go as follows:
5. "Go Tell It On The Mountain" - Little Big Town 4. "Blue Christmas" - Martina & Elvis 3. "Noel" - Jo Dee Messina (Y'all are trash in advance for this, btw) 2. "A Baby Changes Everything" - Faith Hill 1. "Hard Candy Christmas" - Dolly Parton

Yasss, so far I'm correct!!!! ;)
LBT's "Go Tell It On The Mountain" is good, but it's still not a go-to Christmas song from me. Also, this song is structurally identical to Sara Evans' version, but I vastly prefer her more acoustic/bluegrass production to LBT's more rock-infused production.

Also, I heard LBT's "Go Tell It On The Mountain" playing when I went into Walmart last week! (The only good thing that happened in a Walmart this year!)

The Christmas shuffle rankdown definitely lived up to the idea of this being random because the list of songs included were just that lol! Anyways, I’m going to try and catch up before we get to much further:
“If You Believe” was the only correct choice for last place as there wasn’t anything about this song that I remotely liked. I remember when she debuted onto the country music scene way back when and I think she was Nashville’s way of trying to ride the wave of the Britney Spears phenomenon. I had pretty much all but forgotten about her until “Some People Fall, Some People Fly” was included in the Matraca Berg songwriter rankdown and I have to say that’s probably the best thing I’ve heard from her.
Jamie’s rendition of “O Holy Night” wasn’t anything memorable and not one that I’ll revisit. Given my perfect ranking I thought this might be a bottom 2 contender.
I wasn’t sure where “If We Make It Through December” would fall in this rankdown but I’m honestly not that surprised it left in the bottom 3. While I’m personally partial to the original version by Merle, I think Alan does a solid job with this and I’m interested to see how it performs in his Christmas rankdown.
I remember listening to Collin’s The Gift back then and “It Could Happen Again” was definitely one of the highlights. Not anything I revisit but I still enjoy it for what it is. Collin is such an underrated ‘90s artist and is someone who is probably due for his own rankdown sometime down the road.
“Go Tell It On the Mountain” has never bene a go-to holiday song for me and I couldn’t even really give you one version that I’m partial to. Little Big Town’s version is fine and has a bit more of an edge to it that likely makes it standout more. I’ll get some flack for even admitting this but the other day I was listening to Garth’s version from Beyond the Season and I’m not ashamed to say that I like his haha.

I just as easily could've put "Blue Christmas" in my top 3 because I love this rendition with Martina. It isn't Christmas without a little bit of Elvis playing around the house as there's a handful of holiday albums he's released over the years that I play on repeat.

As much as I love Martina's Christmas music, "Blue Christmas" is easily towards the bottom for me... However, it is still a pretty cool song for the novelty of the situation, with this song pretty much being the "single" that carried his whole modern duets album, her getting green screened into his old music video, etc :)
And as much as I love Martina, this is very much the correct top 3!!

If there is ever going to be a holographic Elvis concert in the future...I'm there! I only say that because I love how they were able to include Martina in that concert footage.

I don't think any of us are surprised that the top two came down to Dolly and Faith, so Jo Dee's "Noel" leaving in the top 3 is a win in and of itself I think. This is pretty beloved song here on Pulse and while it isn't one that I revisit I do appreciate it.

"Hard Candy Christmas" is one of my all-time favorite Christmas songs so anything but a Dolly win here would be a tad bit disappointing. That said, I know how well beloved Faith's "A Baby Changes Everything" is here on Pulse so I could also see that one coming out ahead.
