??? she's releasing the lead on 23rd, who said second? I don't know why but I read the post I quoted as saying she was releasing her second single on the 23rd. I guess another #1 debut is in the bag for her, considering how weak the charts are right now.Β Lol. I did too!! Freakin weird

There was speculation that Drake was releasing sometime around his birthday (which is next week), or so I kept reading on IG anyhow and apparently one his producers liked one of the posts that the Hip-Hop blogs began reporting on. However, I donβt think thatβs plausible at the moment so heβll be releasing in 2021 instead, alongside Rihanna, Adele, Kendrick Lamar and Beyonce - the A-listers we (βIβ) need the most. π₯π₯π₯ Imagine all those artists and i think the weeknd talked about an after hours 2 or another completely diff project so maybe weβll get that too

Itβs weird to think only less than a decade ago, Rihanna consistently dropped every year in the autumn, getting #1 singles with each one.

Rih 5 6 7 9 10 11 12 Ari 13 14 16 18 19 20 Will grande take a break after #7 too? If you count Good Girl Gone Bad's reissue (which was marketed/released in 2008 as Good Girl Gone Bad: Reloaded), she released an album every year from 2005-2012. That's an 8-year run. I don't know any other pop singer this century who has managed a run like that while seeing continued success each time they released a new album. I feel like no one talks enough about that when it comes to how dominant Rihanna was during that period of time.

Exactly! Music is, of course, still dear to her but her ambitions and priorities have changed now sheβs in her 30βs. Sheβs literally on the verge of becoming a Billionaire with how enormously successful both Fenty x Beauty & Savage x Fenty are. Between 2005-2016, starting from the age of 16, Rihanna scored 14 #1 singles and became the βHot 100 Artist of the Centuryβ, the βBiggest Selling Digital Act of All-Timeβ and is still the second βMost Streamed Female Artist on Spotifyβ, behind Ariana Grande, despite only releasing three singles between 2017-2020. Also, as thegreatdivine said, she released an album every year between 2005-2012/2016 with continued WW success. If anyone deserves a 4 year break from album releases, itβs her.

Lmao at the thought Doja Cat couldn't give In Your Eyes a boost on the Hot 100 but Kenny G can.

Is it just me or is Justin undermining his career with these subpar single releases? Eh, I think he's just trying to keep his name on the radar. If he disappears for a long break after underperforming that only runs the chances of declining even further. His songs are still doing decent to an extent, so I guess their strategy is to just keep his name out there until he gets a huge smash again. As far as the quality of his music recently, I don't think he's ever really had his own style/artistic nature. He always made music that sounded exactly like the producers/songwriters sound given to him. Where Are U Now/Cold Water/Let Me Love You/etc were all those DJs own sounds, Love Yourself/IDC are exact Ed Sheeran songs he probably had extremely small input in, 1000 Hours sounds exactly like an already finished Dan+Shay song he just added his vocals onto. I guess its harder to reinvent yourself and move further when you're pretty dependent on others contributions.

Should be in the artist discussion, but put it here as he has a new charting single out. But, I think he hasn't really cared about his long term career since the Purpose era. Saw him on that tour and while he can be a decent entertainer at times, the artistic input was minimal. It all relied on people's love and interest towards him, not his interest towards being on stage and sharing his art. If he can't and doesnt' want make it work, he might as well just retire or at least take a lengthy break.
Purpose was a good album but the spark just hasn't been there in years. He jumps from theme and genre to another without a clue how to make a proper impact.

That's why he did that half-assed verse on Despacito and didn't even bother to learn his spanish lines to perform.

Well yea, but it's crazy that people (and airplay decision makers) don't see through it. There's so much better music to be playlisted.

Bieber is wallpaper: only interesting when it changes and even then you get used to it and get bored really quickly, and he goes back into the background. He's just another face radio needs in between Maroon 5 and the dime-a-dozen country singers.
And in a year where we had Rina Sawayama, Fiona Apple, Arca, Taylor Swift, 100 gecs, The Weeknd, Grimes, Dua Lipa, Black Dresses, Carly Rae Jepsen, Jessie Ware, and so many other pop artists making interesting pop music with real passion, there is so much better music you could put on in the background. Screw this sappy, acoustic, Christian s**t.

Justin Bieber was making bangers in 2015, he really wants to go to the Maroon 5 route. If that's the case, he'd be on a 75/25 route. M5 up until recently have been a on a lil hit streak in thier later years.

I agree that, career wise, heβs merely been a radio-face. As of right now heβs the middle ground between Maroon 5 & Chris Brown. I think you just answered your question right there. There's nothing wrong with Christians making music - tons of great artists are Christians - but when it becomes more about reaffirming (or just reestablishing without explaining) your faith and less about the art, well it makes for boring music.
