Right, unlike Ariana, the other two have multiple Grammys.

"better singer" than Selena Gomez and Post Malone? yeah absolutely. Adele and Ariana Grande? don't know about that. the point is, Tori Kelly won't be challenging for BB200 #1 with her Christmas album release in October. especially when her last album peaked at #97 and her 2020 EP (which I enjoy, actually) failed to chart.

What a bizarre strategy that Ari is dropping a whole album 1 week later. Why not just push the album to December and drop the 2nd single along with the album a week later? This era will come and go just like Taylor’s last album because of these bizarre methods. I get that album cycles are much faster in the streaming era, but there are ways to be smarter. Why are artists/managements intentionally doing rapid releases.

Like Folklore, as you mentioned. Not every main pop girl project has to be marketed for a huge era, especially in a pandemic.

Adele won't be doing a musical performance on SNL. she's the host. the musical guest of the episode is H.E.R., so unless Adele is coming back with a H.E.R. collaboration, I don't see why she'd drop her song this Friday.

Saw an obviously fake rumor about an Ungodly Hour remix with Ariana Grande and now I’m unbelievably sad the song is never going to chart.

Also I don't see how folklore is a "come and go" era? The album spent seven weeks atop Billboard 200 and just re-entered the top 10 in the latest chart. A lot of folklore tracks (non-singles) spent several weeks on the BH100, not mentioning three songs debuting in the top 10. If that is a "come and go" type of era, I wanna know which one is not.

If you are a Taylor fan, sure it’s not a come and go era. But pop eras are driven by singles for public consumption, whether you want to admit it or not. Without multiple singles, you are closing your walls in on a small fanbase and the era becomes a non event for the general public. I see no point to drop a whole album 1 week after a comeback single. At the very least wait a month, hype it up and then drop a 2nd single before the album bomb. There’s nothing wrong with asking for more hype, promo and single exposure. For example what’s going to happen to Ari’s 2nd single off this era? We will get the 1st single and then the album bomb happens, how will they expect to push a 2nd single later down the line? There’s the cheap remix methods but don’t even get me started with those.

We will get the 1st single and then the album bomb happens, how will they expect to push a 2nd single later down the line? well folklore: a. has only been out for three months at this point, b. is still one of the best-selling albums of the year so it is big regardless of whether it has smash singles or not, and c. was marketted as a deviation from her usual style. I'm not surprised a folk pop album isn't big on singles or on streaming, even if it is Taylor Swift. I mean I'd say it's on equal footing with Chromatica in terms of one big number one hit so far, while subsequent singles have underperformed (although again, folklore's only been out for three months so let's wait for Taylor to promote other singles before saying this era is over) Also post-album singles are still successful in the streaming age. Watermelon Sugar became Harry Styles' highest charting song thanks to an airplay run and music video months after the album was released and Levitating is getting a boost as we speak. It's not impossible.

It would be funny if every album followed the same release strategy to ensure success. Because that wouldn’t ever not fail.
There’s a reason why Beyoncé is revered for her marketing strategies. Sometimes doing a different schedule is in itself a success. So let’s continue to call attention to Folklore’s failure as an extended era while that very album continues to sell and stream its way to be one of the year’s biggest.

Why do we need to have one single at a time these days. The fast rollouts are because of that.
Nobody cares or listens to radio, so sure they can send a song there but pushing the whole album out soon makes sense.
Side comment - Love the Tori Kelly EP.
