Echoing the statements that the chorus is super clunky, but I like the surrounding song.

The Niko Moon influence is glaringly obvious in the chorus... and that’s not a good thing.

All I hear is Daddy Dierks having delivered yet another catchy and fun jam! Hope it smashes. Seethe.

I’ve only listened to this tune twice so far but I really like it, glad that Dierks is back!

I’ve got to listen to the whole song to really form an opinion but I just listened to the clip on ITunes. Not at all what I was hoping to hear. This sounds so much like an FGL song to me and I really don’t care for them much.

Yep. You all are on it. Cool vibe but the chorus tries too hard to be cool. I'd rather "woman amen" era than this.

Bit surprised at the divisiveness of this one so far. I've only listened a couple times so far but this is his best lead single in awhile for me. I can see this being an enjoyable jam on the radio, and he's been a bit hit-and-miss with me over the past few album cycles, so I'm glad this is more of a 'hit' for me.

Great music video! I love the concept they went with and idk whose idea it was for Dierks Bentley to let his hair grow out like that but I am loving the look on him.

That was definitely well executed and a dose of much needed levity. You can never accuse him of not having fun.

I like how Dierks enjoy to make fun of himself on his videos and it made me to like the song a bit more.

Listening to the radio and much to my shock "How Am I Doin" played which made me smile, as it is very underrated.
As for "Gone" I do think it could easily hit #1 but the start has been very lackluster with this at #32 after 9 weeks in comparison to his last lead single, "Woman Amen" was at #16 after 9 weeks on Billboard. Obviously it could still hit #1 but the start of this song and album era feels lackluster.

While I agree that this release hasn't been lighting the world on fire, I'm not worried about it. It's one of only 3 songs in the top 30 that regained it's bullet within a day or two of Christmas, so I am fairly certain radio is ready to start converting this to regular rotation.
We see this pretty regularly with Dierks singles, they tend to slog through the 30s and then once they get in the top 30 they start to take off. I realize this is a lead single, but it was released in October, in the middle of the pandemic, and while he's done some TV spots for it, he's still not able to promote it like he typically would. He's also closing in on his second decade at country radio. I don't think the end of his career is imminent by any means, but outside of inflated hourly debuts, this chart run doesn't seem to surprising for who he is, his chart history, and where he is in his career.

I mean I think it can hit #1 it's just that this is probably not gonna be a single that is remembered beyond diehards and this single's slow start as a lead single imo probably does speak to Dierks Bentley slowly being phased out or at least having a harder time in the future. Like my overall point was just that this single starting off so sluggish doesn't make me feel the best for the album cycle, it's reminding me of Kane Brown "Cool Again", Jason Aldean "We Back", and Carrie Underwood "Cry Pretty", a lead single that does decently well on radio but really starts an album era off at a poor start and obviously Dierks isn't quite as big as those 3 are but I do get similar vibes with this single. Sorry if my post is coming across as me thinking this song is almost done, it clearly isn't. Just airing some of my concerns for this album era which I think are valid

Agreed. Times are different right now, and singles released in Q4 of a chart year tend to get off to a slower start for the majority of artists because the charts start to clog up with big hits that don't fall right away and mounting holiday airplay that eats into the regular songs. I think "Gone" will ultimately be fine and I'm not really surprised by its run so far either.

I mean I hear what both of you are saying I just don't agree in the slightest. I just feel like this single is starting this album off poorly and not much buzz and yes there haven't been a lot of opportunity to promote but even then I expected more. But if I am wrong I'm wrong and I will take the loss on this one.
I am bringing up valid points right? Or am I sounding like a moron in my past two posts?

No one knows what the outcome of this song's chart run will be yet and you've already stated your piece. No one is saying you can't express your opinion, but you've done so and now it's time to move along.

Echoing the statements that the chorus is super clunky, but I like the surrounding song. After giving this time to settle, I definitely like the song, but I just hate how the song just randomly tries to be a bar anthem midway through the chorus when it doesn't fit the rest of the vibe. I love Dierks, but this is one of my least favorite leads from him.

Debut with #2 highest net positive and #1 lowest negative (6.6) in this week's callout. Definitely a future #1.

Hot 100 must be rather weak again for this on to be at #36, but it's his highest showing there since "Somewhere on a Beach" in 2016. If it moves up a couple more spots when it has its final push to #1, which is possible, then it'll be his highest since "Drunk on a Plane." Glad this did pretty well for him at radio & on the charts despite not moving the needle in a big way.

It is, the Hot 100 is just recovering from two album bombs the last couple of weeks, (Olivia Rodrigo and J. Cole the past 2 weeks). With two album bombs recently it kind of leads to the leftovers remaining to get peaks higher than they probably deserve (think Brett Young "Catch" last year peaking at #29 despite being pretty middle of the road hit in terms of moving the needle).

Don’t know what planet you’re on but Olivia Rodrigo definitely didn’t “bomb.” 300k in a week (the best of 2021 So far) isn’t a bomb.
