- Only songs with 100 million streams or more.
- Only up to 50 songs included per year.
- From January 01, 2000 to December 31, 2009.
- I used the radio release date to determine which year the song belongs.
- If you know any song missing the list, let me know.

btw (N/A) means that I wasn't tracking those songs in 2019, so I don't know how many streams they gained. In most cases I wasn't tracking them because they had less than 100m streams in 2019, but there were also a couple that were over 100m back then and simply slipped under the radar.

cool thread
some that you've missed: aphex twin - avril 14th daft punk - something about us the strokes - someday system of a down - toxicity & aerials
there were also a few songs (so fresh so clean, murder on the dancefloor) that i was surprised weren't here but they were between 95-99 million lol

Aerials I mistakenly had as a 2002 song so I'll move it to 2001. The other three songs were on 2001 albums but were released as singles in 2002/2003 so they'll be on the lists for those years.

This thread just goes to show how the correlation between chart success and sustainable popularity 2 decades later is more minimal than I often hear conventional wisdom suggest. "Chop Suey!" peaked at #76 on the Hot 100, for instance, but (admittedly just going by this one metric) has been the most popular song of its debut year for quite awhile on at least this one major platform.
With that said, "How You Remind Me" is #2, and that is also the #1 song of the Year-End 2002. So again, there may certainly be some correlation, but it's not a guarantee. The #1 song of 2001 for instance, "Hanging by a Moment" is only the #48 song for 2000.
and again, this is just one metric. But still interesting food for thought.

^ I think about this all the time and have always said I want Billboard to figure out how to do an all-time chart that takes longevity post-chart-run into account
Edit: It’s worth pointing out that this thread uses Global streams, so a comparison to Hot 100 performance might not be the most meaningful in some cases

I find it interesting how a good portion of these songs so far are alternative or rock oriented, and often high up on the list.

Ugh, the amount of nu-metal and post-grunge on the list. If anyone ever says a thing about trap being the worst, just remind them off a time when Staind and 3 Doors Down were big names

Love this! Spotify longevity stats are very interesting to me.
For example, Avril's "Sk8er Boi" (234M) is her 2nd most streamed song after "Complicated" (359M).
It has more streams than "My Happy Ending" (101M) & "I'm With You" (115M) combined despite being a much smaller hit, and has more streams than "Girlfriend" (169M) which was a #1 hit...

Fell In Love With A Girl gets kicked out of the top 50 for 2001 as a result. The Amelie song was unexpected, I definitely wouldn't have thought it would be so popular.

it was easier to hit #1 in 2007 than early 2000's thanks to blossom of digital sales.
some songs get second life after used in TV/Movie or singing competition shows.

If anyone ever says a thing about trap being the worst, just remind them off a time when Staind and 3 Doors Down were big names I feel like (on average) post-grunge doesn't have as good recurrent stats as pop-punk, alt-rock and nu-metal from those years though, at least when you consider how big they were on the charts. Adult Contemporary style pop-rock/soft-rock and post-grunge seemed to be the rock subgenres that did best on the Hot 100 back then.

JXL & Elvis Presley - A Little Less Conversation has 104m And these are all from 2002 albums, but I guess they are 2003 radio singles. Oasis - Stop Crying Your Heart Out The Norah Jones - Come Away With Me and Turn Me On Coldplay - Clocks Red Hot Chili Peppers - Can't Stop I'll add A Little Less Conversation and Stop Crying Your Heart Out which I missed (the latter also seems to be a 2002 single actually). The last four songs I already had in my 2003 list.

I’m surprised that “Ignition (Remix)” seems to have actually suffered a bit from the wider awareness of R. Kelly’s history as a sexual abuser..
Also, “Lose Yourself” is close to surpassing “I’m Yours” as the most-streamed song of this entire decade

I’m surprised that “Ignition (Remix)” seems to have actually suffered a bit from the wider awareness of R. Kelly’s history as a sexual abuser.. Also, “Lose Yourself” is close to surpassing “I’m Yours” as the most-streamed song of this entire decade Yes, except not really since the average daily streams for I'm Yours were higher in the past year. And with R. Kelly it's unclear if it's wider awareness as much as it is the removal from any and all Spotify curated playlists, but, the drop in streams has been very significant.

I could have sworn “LY” was catching up. Thanks for the correction! And how could I forgot the de-playlisting of R. Kelly!!

Note: I combined The Fame + The Fame Monster. Both Billboard & RIAA are counting them as separate albums. They are at 1,322,890,421 & 1,157,392,840 streams. For artists Eminem dominates (4/4 albums released in the decade at #1, #14, #27, #31) on top of that he has 'Lose Yourself' which is above 1 Billion streams. The song isn't included in any Studio Album, but alone can make this list. Coldplay is also 4/4, strong performance from Linkin Park - 3 albums (2 in top 10).Regarding genres Rock with its subgenres dominates clearly.
Since the topic is longevity of songs/albums. Here are the biggest albums from the 00s (in pure sales) that aren't among the top 50 most streamed albums on Spotify:
*only Studio Albums*
'Come Away with Me' by Norah Jones - #1 best selling album of the 00s - not on the list. 'No Strings Attached' by N'Sync - #2 ... 'Oops I Did It Again' by Britney Spears - 7th best selling album in pure sales, but not here. 'Country Grammer' by Nelly - #8, not on the list. 'All The Right Reasons' by Nickelback - #9... 5/10 of the best selling studio albums of the 00s are not living up to their expectation when it comes to longevity.

here's some international hits:
O-Zone - Dragostea Din Tei 122m Gigi D'Agostino - L'amour Toujours 161m Juanes - Es Por Ti 137m Juanes - La Camisa Negra 162m (though I think this counts as 2005) Robbie Williams - Feel 163m Robbie Williams - Rock DJ 115m Junior Senior - Move Your Feet 127m Wheatus - Teenage Dirtbag 241m (the album was apparently released in 1999 though) Eric Prydz - Call On Me (Radio Edit) 189m Gary Jules & Michael Andrews - Mad World 154m Afroman - Crazy Rap (Colt 45 & 2 Zig Zags) 136m (yeah I don't know this song either) Toploader - Dancing In The Moonlight 378m (!!!)
There's also Sandstorm and The Bad Touch, but I'm not sure which decade those belong to.

I don't think I know the Afroman song, I only know him for Because I Got High. I also don't think I've ever heard of Toploader? I'll give them a listen in a bit. Call On Me I'll have under 2004. Not sure how I could forget Dragostea Din Tei, that song is a jam. Anyways, I'll add those to their respective years later tonight.

strongerq - I think Fearless might be top 10 for daily streams now even though it still has a lot of catching up in terms of total streams. It's been within about 10% of IASF's daily streams for months now.

There's probably going to be some Spanish language hits missing, but my knowledge is lacking in that area. Daddy Yankee's Gasolina has 256m for instance.
