It's okay. If they were going to go with double singles, I probably would have chosen "motive".

This is nowhere NTLTC level. Trash. She's one of the artists that really has to incorporate sexual things into her songs just to gain audience. Can't she write about something else? I mean her team. So you a) admit that NTLTC is great and b) say she needs to incorporate sex into her songs (which she is very much allowed to do) for them to be popular/good? Do you even know what NTLTC is about?

I really enjoy this one. It's so fun and I think it'll be a moderate hit for her.

Great song, but I hate when artists spam radio with back to back or simultaneous releases. Itβs a strategy that doesnβt seem to pay off more than half the time.
Either both become big at the same time and listeners burn on your project more quickly, one flops and one dominates, or both cannibalize each other and underperform. Iβm sure someone else has done it well, but only a few artists (Weekend and BeyoncΓ© come to mind) have done this strategy gracefully where one release goes on to replace the other.
Ariana has success with this too but her last eras nearly involved 3 songs in the top 10 at once and stations still gave her recurrent hits dedicated airplay. It seemed that 15-20% of any given top 40 playlist was dedicated to Ariana when 7 Rings reached its apex.

The lyrics to this are absolutely hysterical. Itβs like a lost to the ages Katy Perry demo for BeyoncΓ©βs 4. I appreciate what she was trying to do here but... no. I think this is a soundbite single to generate interest in the album via Instagram/TikTok but the smart choice to follow this would be βmotiveβ in my humble opinion.

I don't like this as a single at all.

I'm surprised this is what they're sending to radio instead of "motive" or "off the table" with big-name features.
This kind of reminds me of If U Seek Amy, except I really think that was a feat only The Legendary Miss Britney Spears could pull off. (Not to mention it was before our current political hellscape; Fox News is not going to run a story about a pop star's suggestive lyrics corrupting the airwaves now.)

I don't think this song is as left field, polarizing as y'all are making it out to be. Aside from the "I'm talking about 69" which they will obviously edit out, I doubt radio will have any issues sending this Top 10.

This is ridiculous. "Positions" has been out for a week. I guess it worked for her last era/s but it's still maddening. Plus, this song didn't even stand out to me. I just listened to the album and "Motive" and "Obvious" seemed more like singles to me. Overall, the album had a pretty severe lack of melody and it was very tough to get past all the language. Just felt like it was excessively filthy just for the sake of being filthy.

They can always replace this with "motive" if they want. It's happened before.

Why did they not go with motive as the second single? It's one of the best songs on the album, it has a trendy feature artist, it's got a pop beat and serves R&B, could've been promoted on pop and rhythmic.

I like this, but yeah strange single choice. I'm sure some stations won't play it much because of the lyrics.

Radio 1 played this and the host quickly started talking loudly over the last line.

The radio edit is on All Access.
They replace "f**k" with "love," "dick" and "bitch" are just muted, and the end is cut obviously.

Is there an issue with a grown woman singing about sex??? why does it mean sheβs trying to gain audience? It's fine to sing about sex, but IMO some artists of both genders need to learn that there's more to life than sex. It's possible to be famous for being sexy without singing about sex. That's what Madonna and Kylie Minogue did.

At least she didn't write an entire album about love.

Is this supposed to be insulting to Pete Davidson, the entire female gender, your intelligence, or all three? These kinds of jokes are very last century, please get with the times.

No matter how many times I listen to this I can't get used to "Fuck me 'til the daylight", might have to switch to the clean version
