Both jams, would've preferred MAMG but Trip Switch is still a banger.
Thanks for hosting Major Lazer & Marcus Mumford song!

In all honestly, while I had MAMG only a few spots higher, I was rooting for it. Then again it won 2016 AAA 1.0 already so yeah.

So AzatarOfficial has betrayed the Dua Lipa rankdown and Australia, what a sin I regret nothing.I f ucking HAAAAAATE 'Walking On A Dream', I hate anything Luke Steele has ever put his voice to. The Sleepy Jackson, Empire Of The Sun, even his collab project with Daniel Johns from Silverchair sucked. :sip2: As for the Dua rankdown, that's still happening. Life/Christmas/My birthday/Six million rankdowns' due dates lining up in a row/the PMA's had me like nope, no time or energy left to think about this too rn.

10. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Dark NecessitiesI'm just gonna go ahead and say it. This is quite possibly their last great song. The "Go Robot" thingie was decent, but this was the last true RHCPS sounding song they will probably release before going all artsy like the latest Foo's song. 9. Silversun Pickups - Circadian Rhythm (Last Dance)Cool jam. Better than the other one we ranked. 8. Radiohead - Burn the WitchI'm gonna leave this one alone, but it was seriously melodically challenged. Besides I only like two songs from this band. You all know which two by now. 7. Phantogram - You Don’t Get Me High AnymoreI love these powerful female sung jams. Very much like the Broods song. I was just more enticed by Giorgia Nott's scream a thon. 6. Glass Animals - Life ItselfI found nothing attractive about this song. The music was basically riding on that percussion which sounded borderline tropical ,and I can't stand tropical sounds. The only musical melody was brought by the vocals which I also found to be an ear sore. He didn't sound so bad by the chorus, but by then I didn't care. Hey Fire I'll trade you my #84 for your #95. 5. Nothing but Thieves - Wake Up CallA gripping intro. This was the second single, but equally strong. Glad to see Alternative Rock make the top 5. 4. Empire of the Sun - Walking On a DreamThis was a very cool album. Five singless were released and I charted all five. I was always gonna rank this high, because I actually charted it when it was first released way back in 2008. I remember because that was the year Ted Poley returned as lead singer for Danger Danger. Cool this means real Alternative Rock claims the top 3. 3. Foals - What Went DownCool. I didn't pay much attention to this one when it was out, but it's a good song with strong guitar strums. That pretty much works for me. Love the top 2!!!!!2. Foals - Mountain At My GatesAwesome! Great song. The only Foals song I have given top 10 action to. Crazy cool guitar melody and bass aligned into perfect harmony. 1. Nothing but Thieves - Trip SwitchAnother great one. I put neither in my top 10 , because I knew the rest of you would. Another cool as F U C K bassline and mega melodic chorus. lyhom Great job man. Love the videos stats and all that good stuff. "Bang Bang" didn't win but I got my wish anyway. Alternative Rock vibes prevailing on an Alternative (rock) rankdown. All hail the electric guitar.

had 0 Perfectos throughout the first 98 reveals of the rankdown, only to get 2 at the last 2 reveals. talking about quality over quantity so so glad to see life itself make the top 10 this time. kind of a boring top 2, but they're just the best 2 songs on the list, with trip switch being the best. thanks for hosting lyhom!

{TOOK ME LONG ENOUGH}#10: Jesus, a nearly 100 point difference between #10 and #11. I guess we can't say that the ten songs in the top ten don't deserve it based on that alone. This was my lowest remaining, sure, but a) this held up way better than I thought it would, and b) it was my lowest remaining at #20. This is probably the second-best song the Peppers made last decade. ("Monarchy of Roses" forever.) #9: I forgot that this was top five last time. Unlike with "Nightlight", this song actually tries to do something a little different, and, because of that, it just feels way more refreshing. #8: It is so weird to say this about a song that sounds like it can induce panic, but this song was my safety blanket in 2016. I was not going through a particularly happy time in my life when this song dropped (though I'd take it 100 times over compared to what we're all dealing with now), and, for some reason, something about this song soothed me. It may have been as simple as "Thom Yorke's vocals", or it may be way more complicated than that, but all I know is that "Burn the Witch" was the single most important song of that year for me, personally.
I said that I only really cared about my #1 making the top ten, and I meant it...but I am rooting against a song still.
#7: I have always had a bit of an up and down relationship with this song, though I'm firmly in the former camp right now. They've made better songs, to be sure, but this is still good. #6: "hopefully this moving up so much is good news for 'gooey' if we ever do a 2015 redo" I have never liked "Gooey", so I'm actually looking forward to the possibility of a 2015 redo to see if my thoughts on the song may change. I very much doubt I'll care for it the same way I care about "Life Itself", though. This song moves. #5: I always rank this song fairly high, because I recognize that it is a good song, well-performed, and generally without too many faults to speak of, but I've never cared for it in the way that I care for some of the songs off of NBT's debut. #4: Okay, I don't know why, but Tom not ranking this top 20 is THE surprise of this rankdown, bar none. I thought this was a lock to be high for him. #3: I've had a big turnaround on this song, though I think it's mainly because of me falling heavily for another song (specifically "Inhaler"), which gave me a bigger appreciation for this. The way this builds to the end is really, really cool. Foals know their way around an ending.
"Basic top two" And this basic bitch put these two songs at 2 and 3. I have no regrets.
#2: The climax of MAMG would be the best thing in this rankdown if the ending violin breakdown of "Burn the Witch" didn't exist. We better give "Inhaler" this level of respect if we get back to the early 2010's, though. #1: NBT have taken a sharp downturn in the last year, so I feel fairly comfortable saying that they will never be this good again. I still hold a soft spot for NBT's debut album, though it's not "Trip Switch" that has a hold on my heart. (Whereas everything else in this RD fell very far behind my eventual #1, "Graveyard Whistling" would have made the choice for #1 an actual choice, just as one example.) As always, lyhom, fantastic job hosting and revealing. I eagerly look forward to revisiting the hell that is the worst of 2016 Active.
