Ariana Grande pulls ahead of Pop Smoke to secure a second week at #1. A rebound in her streaming can be credited for the boost. The Kid LAROI will re-enter at #3 thanks to a deluxe version. NAV remains a contender for the Top 5, with Juice WRLD a possible spoiler.
TITLES IN GOLD = DEBUTS
In political news, we're still doomscrolling. You?

Yikes- wonder what will be No. 1 in album sales. Maybe Kylie Minogue's album? Question is, how low the total will be.

^Agreed. It might be the first #1 in Top Album Sales with less than 10k in pure sales.

Kylie has never been huge in the U.S. I think an easy 2nd week for Ari.

I thought Ariana’s career peaked???
She’s not lifting her foot off the #1 spot.

I thought Ariana’s career peaked??? Lol I wouldn't argue against this fact. Even with the 2nd week at #1.

Minogue's album has been high on the iTunes chart since its release (back at No. 1)- though that doesn't mean big sales these days.

Damn, Nav really out here making the #5 spot, the new #1 spot. The Brown Boy really stays winning no matter what... 🤒

The numbers are just straight up not good. The second week at no. 1 isn't due to good numbers, just due to lack of competition. I can see her tumbling out of the top ten by the end of November if these numbers are an indication of things to come.

If the second-week projection holds, that would be a ~63% drop for positions. Isn't that a better hold than some second-week declines/ Still not amazing numbers, though the drop wouldn't be as bleak as all that.

To keep things in perspective, positions would have more than a 84% drop in sales (pure + TEAs) and 47% in SEAs, 61% in overall SPS. I don't get a good feeling about its longevity in the Billboard 200 prospects.

Billboard 200 is basically a streaming chart now. One big single can carry the whole album..and with positions and POTENTIALLY pov, she’ll be fine.

It could be, but some of those huge drops had bundles that inflated opening sales more. It would need to be an even comparison.

POV has the greatest shot of being a hit out of any song on the album, but if her team doesn't prioritise it over 34+35 its impact might be reduced.

For some reason, I had a higher number in mind when thinking about the first week- hence the 63% I posted. The debut numbers trended downward from the projections,m so we'll see where the week-two-figure ends up. Nonetheless, percentage-wise, it won't be so bad, comparatively.

Harry top 15 with 6k PURE after 11 months, never charting below #22 in its entire chart run. A real blockbuster album. Love to see it.

^^ yeah it really is so impressive! I don’t think anyone was expecting it still charting in the top 20 11 months after its release.

Ariana's softer drop is also due to it not really starting that high to begin with. Two week total would still be well below her previous album's first week (and on par with sweetener's debut week if I recall correctly).

If softer drops meant anything for the longevity of an album, we'd still be streaming Rare, wouldn't we?

EARLY CHART ACTION: REPUBLIC'S TRIO AND COLUMBIA'S KID Ariana Grande’s lead over #2 Pop Smoke continues to increase on our Building Top 50 chart. With nearly 90% of the numbers in, we’re projecting Positions to finish with around 80k. Monte Lipman’s Republic once again has the Top 2 albums. Columbia’s The Kid LAROI vaults to #3 thanks to the deluxe (SAVAGE) version of F*CK LOVE. Republic picks up another Top 5 slot this week with NAV mixtape, Emergency Tsunami. Elsewhere on the chart, the late King Von’s Welcome To O’Block increases from its first week to enter the Top 10. Two other King Von titles will also appear in this week’s Top 50. As always, the current numbers are building and therefore not yet final. Check back this afternoon for the final totals and chart position. Friday, November 13, 2020
