If this top 4 we have now is the one we end with, this will be the second year in a row where the top 4 doesn't have a song released in the year they're representing. And the first since 2013 to have one in the top four that wasn't released that year or the year before ("Can't Hold Us", which was originally released in 2011). I was very surprised when I had learned it came out more than a year before "Thrift Shop". Honourable mention to 2012, which had four songs in the top five (including all of the top three) that were released in 2011. Lights nearly fell under this category too, it was supposed to be released in late 2010 but was pushed back.

Another interesting fact, if this top 4 stays, this will the first time since 2015 that the top 4 doesn't consist of a song that debuted in the top 10. That is insane given how many of the biggest hits this year debuted in the top 10 These songs just had longevity unlike several of the songs that debuted in the top 10.

But yes, apparently it was actually recorded as far back as 2009.

I usually do this at the end of the year but here are some songs I think could make the YE in 2022 - Stay
- Bad Habits
- Heat Waves
- Fancy Like
- Traitor
- Some Doja Cat song
Any I should add or remove? I see Good 4 U going the full 52 weeks and thus making the 2022 Year-End. For that matter, the BTS stans will probably keep Butter on the charts for 52 weeks. {Spoiler}If they don't run out of money by then and read up on recurrent rules, they might even put it back into the top 25 on week 53. That's a terrifying thought...

Let's not be giving them any ideas, ok? My bad. I was thinking of that, too. I'm sure their parents' money has to run out within the next 8 months, right? …Right??? Or maybe they'll move on to boosting the next single ( sigh).

BTS will probably end up beating The Beatles' #1 hits record within a few years, which will be the music equivalent of Barry Bonds beating Hank Aaron's home run record.

I hope Leave The Door Open goes recurrent in order to not surpass drivers licence on the YE chart.

I'm not trying to bring back the constant whine fest that used to surround this song because I still kinda like it but does anyone else find it just really surreal that I Hope is gonna be top 40 on this year end list? Like when I think of "top 40 biggest songs of 2021" I Hope would be one of the last things to come up.
And yes I know part of it is the absolute lunacy of starting the chart in November but also even if that wasn't there the song might be one of the 40 biggest of 2021 anyway (not on Billboards list oviously just in general). It's above Driers License and Wants And Needs on the recurrent charts right now which is just kinda surreal because I haven't thought about it or really encountered it in half a year

I don’t think of LTDO as a bigger song than DL in any shape or form.

So will any songs from CLB besides Way 2 Sexy make the YE? My guess is no, but it’s always possible.

Country Again looks like it'll miss, it's falling on radio now & it needs 3 more weeks. I'm guessing after this week it'll shoot up to like 35 or so due to Drake falling away but then it'll probably freefall off the charts. Crazy just how many country songs we're gonna have piled up just below the cutoff, including a couple that are absolutely terrible

For the chart week ending Sept. 18, 2021, here's where I think things currently stand on the year-end top 100: Not much action as Drake hogged all the big points. He also pushed songs down so far the predicted actual year-end top 100 was affected. EST Year end | Song | Artist | YE Est Pts | 1 | Levitating | Dua Lipa | 10776 | 2 | Save Your Tears | The Weeknd & Ariana Grande | 8628 | 3 | Mood | 24kGoldn ft. iann dior | 8484 | 4 | Blinding Lights | The Weeknd | 8427 | 5 | Drivers License | Olivia Rodrigo | 6936 | 6 | Good 4 U | Olivia Rodrigo | 6572 | 7 | Butter | BTS | 6537 | 8 | Leave The Door Open | Silk Sonic (Bruno Mars & Anderson .Paak) | 6505 | 9 | Kiss Me More | Doja Cat ft. JAY-Z | 1597 | 99 | Settling Down | Miranda Lambert | 1585 | 100 | Gone | Dierks Bentley | 1583 |
TBH, I seriously doubt any of the Drake tracks that debut this week will make the actual year end. Most will plummet like boulders on a melting lake.

Next we'll have Arcade, Single Saturday Night, You Right and Thot s**t will clinch their YE spots.
And I need to stop predicting that Peaches is gonna be passed by Butter, Good 4 U and Kiss Me More even though it'll happen in the next two weeks.

Looks like If I Didn’t Love You has a chance to sneak onto the YE toward the end of the tracking year. It would be in the top 25 this week without Drake and is continuing to gain momentum.

I think If I Didn't Love You might be a sneak contender for a 2022 year end list spot as well if it gets some type of Forever After All chart run. And honestly it's the best (closest to decent) Jason Aldean song we've got on the hot 100 since the genuinely great A Little More Summertime so I'd be fine with that

It's already at #7 on country radio, which is very high for a song that was just released a couple months ago. If it peaks soon, I don't see it making 2022. Its best bet is either to sneak onto 2021 and/or make the 2021 January-December YE.

Bieber down bad two. songs just outside of the top 10 😂😂 Yep, sucks for him. The gap between "Stay" and "Butter" was over 100,000. Unless "Stay" gets enough points to bypass "Butter", that would be the final Top 10 (I'm completely fine to have "Butter" be #10 if it means it will re-enter in 2022 YE) EDIT: If by any chance "Stay" ends up at #13 instead of #12, it will be in the same position as Rihanna/Mikky Ekko's "Stay" in 2013 (or possibly Zedd/Alessia Cara's in 2017 if The Kid LAROI/Justin Bieber slowly decreased in points)
