BTS equals zzzz. Imagine stanning for such a manufactured pop production. I am here for Asian representation but not that. You clearly know nothing about BTS. Please educate yourself before spreading insults and negativity. Actually don't spread insults and negativity at all, it's not necessary.
Thank you hacker for letting me in, so I don't have to read these ridiculous comments without replying.
But also no-thank you hacker, the previous background was a lot better.

CU will, at the very least, easily outpeak her debut with Black Friday sales + her HBO special coming in the next sales week. Would love to see her gun for #1.

It feels like Kelly didn't do it, neither would Carrie.

It feels like Kelly didn't do it, neither would Carrie. CU has always been a strong album seller. Her streaming could use some help, but she consistently excels in the pure sales department. Wouldn’t count her out.

BTS equals zzzz. Imagine stanning for such a manufactured pop production. I am here for Asian representation but not that. After reading comments like this for months the hacker opened the gate and now I can finally speak up. It's one thing to dislike an artists music after actually listening to it or even taking a brief amount of time to learn about them. But let's be real here. BTS gets a lot of unwarranted hate because a small but extremely loud and obnoxious group of their fans are absolute lunatics (the vast majority of us are really nice, chill people). Also, some people just assume they know what kind of music they make. The reality is that BTS is an incredibly talented and hard working group of guys who have paid their dues for over 7 years to get where they are. While it is true that many kpop groups are sort of manufactured, although still very talented, BTS is not. From the very start they actually make their own music. The group consists of 3 rappers/producers, 2 of which were in the underground hip hop scene from a ridiculously young age. The members are heavily involved in writing/producing their own music and their dancing ability rivals or bests the majority of other performers. They have faced everything from stalking, smearing and harassment up to death threats causing them to have to cancel shows. Their fans are very quick to come to their defense when anyone mistreats them for that reason. They are also some of the most humble, generous and thoughtful people you would ever find. Yes, people on this site get angry over their fans buying their music every week (I saw someone compare it to buying copies of Dynamite like they were groceries), but consider WHY their fans do that. It's because BTS creates high quality music with deep, meaningful lyrics in more genres than I could ever list and despite having a massive US fan base, radio still won't play their music. A perfect example is their incredible single they just released on Friday, Life Goes On. It's better than Dynamite and better than a lot of other songs on radio now, but it's not being played only because it's mostly in Korean. That is why we mass buy. No, we aren't 12 year old girls or bots from wherever. We are mostly adults 25+ who love BTS' message. Their album is really great too and yes, I paid $50 to get it! Not only does BTS have composing and producing credits on this song, the youngest member, Jungkook actually directed this music video.

Honestly, you don’t have to like them but it’s gotten to a point that’s not healthy. Just let it go baby! Life will be so much brighter for you once you stop being a crybaby.

Cleanup requested in aisle Chart Discussion section HITS I'm in full agreement. Posts intended to just incite others and antagonize should not be allowed. Mature discussion and disagreements and open discussion on a give topic is surely welcome.

Perhaps, but I have been reading this site for around 15 years but never signed up. I was never compelled to actually post anything until BTS, whose music I enjoy very much, debuted at #1 on the Hot 100 and I was seeing an insane level of utterly irrational hatred. As a fan and long time reader here I signed up but the registrations were not being processed. I've been reading a lot of complete garbage hurled for months now. That was merely a culmination of months worth of reading insults I was not able to respond to.

Also who stalks a music forum for 15 years without joining it, I don't buy it personally cause well that's just random af I get maybe like a year or two, but 15 years is crazy

Let it go.
Xenophobia is a hell of a drug. I've been lurking too for months, and they clearly have 0 intention to give them a chance.
Bringing this back since this seems appropriate.

Before you make such a bold and brazen statement for someone whose only been here for only so long Do a better analysis Just cause we don't like BTS doesn't mean were xenophobic or against Korean music and/or culture at all Opinion are opinions If someone doesn't like BTS, its usually just cause they are not into them There are many users on here who do listen to K-Pop, just not BTS Some of us just don't like Dynamite but might like other BTS songs Opinions are opinions, don't come in here and try to play some victim card cause your not going to get any sympathy for it. I myself am not into BTS much outside of Dream Glow and Boy With Luv Don't dig deeper into it, it's not worth the effort.

I haven't always actively read here. I first started reading around season 4 or 5 of American Idol or around that time. At various times I've read and gotten information daily and other times I haven't opened the site in months. I've been a daily visitor again since around July. I did try to sign up then because I actually had something to say. Because of the hacker I got an email processing my registration. There are probably even more people who had the same thing happen.

Ah, yes.
I'm sure that the 'manufactured pop' comment, based on absolutely nothing by an user who probably listened one song and a half, isn't because this is K-pop.
Give BTS their Grammys, and they can be done with the US GP once and for all.

The radio refusing to play Korean songs and stuff like that definitely is related to xenophobia but I think it's a mistake to automatically assume that about the people posting here right off the bat. Like I mentioned, I think a lot of it is because people see the very loud but minority toxic stans on twitter and react to that. That's why my post was really long. We have to acknowledge that because it's off putting to people who don't know the history of how it gets to that point. The average person opens twitter and sees Army going after someone. They don't usually see what happened to lead up to that and that we are reacting. They don't know about the deranged BTS antis that create accounts pretending to be fans just to behave horribly to make it look like Army. I honestly think the hate directed at BTS is more frustration over our crazy buying habits because it's hard to compete against and the crazies they see on twitter. Let's not just assume it's xenophobia because that's no better than when someone assumes anything about us as BTS fans.

Can we stop arguing for once and just focus on what the purpose of this forum is 😭 Anyways, I’m wondering if Meg will break 100k but i doubt it. It’s funny seeing how stan Twitter hypes things up but don’t follow up with the support. I actually enjoyed her and BTS album. I prefer Megan’s SUGA over Good News though. I felt like the album was too long and it lost me half way through. What are your opinions on Good News and Be?

I was wondering if since people are buying BTS tracks to try to album bomb and not completing the album if that took away from their album sales numbers.

Alright. I will calm down. But we are literally dealing with it all the time, so it's not easy, and sometimes from people of autority - journalists, public figures, radio DJ. We are not a 'hyper-sensitive' fandom that makes up oppression for the sake of playing victims. Between xenophobia, antis, and people who dismiss them because they see us as screaming teenagers, that's hard.
As for going back to the topic, I actually really enjoyed Megan's new album. I was actually pretty surprised, because I didn't expect to like it that much - even if WAP is a hit. Body wasn't my fav, but after her perf at the AMAs, I kinda fell in love with it ? My favorite is her collab with SZA, it's kinda radio-friendly, I hope they make it a single eventually !
I have no idea how to compare it to SUGA though '_' I do like the evolution tho.
Be is great - no surprise here - and I really hope we manage to chart Dis-ease along with Life goes on, Dis-ease is a bop. Everyone is a bit anxious about it, but we'll see ! I'm still hoping for a standard version to buy the album tho, I'm not rich T_T

It's very frustrating to sit back and read months worth of it and finally be able to say something, totally get it. It's just better to show people they were wrong than give them an excuse to say they were right. :)

Also on a side yes xenophobia is real on the music charts and the reception of K-Pop music
It is a point that is understood by many but thats radio, pop radio has always had backhanded practices since ever and also definitely questionable choices in music that suceeda alongside what doesn't do well or stalls on pop radio.
That point is definitely heard here so rest assured about that much is the best I can tell ya'll.

Boy bands have their place in music and pop culture and I’d argue it is relevant to every generation but pretending this generation’s boybands are somehow different and aren’t going to follow the trajectory of every other generation’s boyband is silly to me. Yet, each generation the defensiveness jumps out.

Yet, each generation the defensiveness jumps out. I don't really view BTS in the same category as a boy band, though. Would you lump The Beatles in with boy bands? Probably not. On a global scale, BTS is today very similar to what The Beatles were back when they were at the peak of their popularity. Whether it's the language barrier or the statistically low percentage of the loud and loony factions of their fanbase, they do get unfairly dismissed. Ironically, Dynamite is the only BTS song they had no part in writing or producing. To me I picture boy bands recording and performing music someone else writes and produces. Artists create the music and perform it. BTS are artists who happen to be a group of men ages 24 to almost 28 that write/compose/produce their own music. One of the members also trained as a contemporary dancer. It's also not mostly young girls who make up their fan base. The majority of BTS fans are actually over 25 and a good chunk are actually over 40 years old. BTS did an ad for a car and they actually sold out and had to go on back order. It's pretty mind blowing honestly. I have a very deep and sincere respect for the members of BTS, for what they do for social and economic justice, fighting violence against youth and children, the environment. Their fans actually regrow rainforests and help get surgery for children with deformities, feed the hungry, etc. from being inspired by BTS. It's honestly a beautiful thing. I think that's why it gets so frustrating when they are so misunderstood.
